Located on a quiet, flat and sunny street very close to downtown Tahoe City. Great street for the kids to play and close enough for a walk to town in less than ten minutes. Tahoe House coffee and pastries and Blue Moon Natural foods are located just around the corner (or shorter if you cut through the woods). Also, the trailhead for Page Meadows is a quarter mile from the front door for awesome hiking and mountain biking. Walk to the river for summertime fun. Great, easy winter access as well.

We have lived in Tahoe since 1989 and love it here. We both came to ski and live in these beautiful mountains and never want to leave. Eric has been a professional skier since 1989 and still works as ski guide and coach in the winter. Laura teaches school in Truckee. We know what it takes to make a great home here in the mountains and this house reflects our commitment to a comfortable life and a warm, happy, and functional retreat for our family and our guests.
Eric DesLauriers purchased this house in 1996
We chose this street and house because it is sunny, warm, flat with easy access, no traffic (on a horse-shoe road) and it is located close to town, skiing and wilderness trailheads. We are a short walk to downtown Tahoe City, and close drive of only twelve minutes to Squaw Valley. The house also offers a beautiful, large and private backyard bordering greenbelt forest.
You can enjoy plenty of warmth and comfort and functional use of space when staying at our house. We have made many modifications including large, custom-cabinets and stone floor on the entry way to handle the demands of kids and parents with active lifestyles. We have lots room to dry and store everyone's gear. The living and dining rooms seat the whole family with the gas fireplace to provide warmth and ambiance. Everyone will be toasty on cold nights with down-filled covers on all the beds. And the full-featured, private hot-tub spa will be a welcome warm-up after a day in the mountains.
A small group of adults and and a 2 yo enjoyed a few nights at this house. It was comfortable with all the amenities we needed. We even cooked a large meal one night easily. The gas fireplace was super comfy and the place generally warm. It snowed a ton over the weekend and Eric graciously checked in to make sure everything was plowed. He also was quick and apt to respond when we had questions about the hot tub. Also, the house is a very quick ride to the local organic grocery store and our favorite Tahoe bakery.
Very nice place! Highly recommend it. The square layout is perfect - access to the kitchen, and all areas of the house, from two directions, two bathrooms, fireplace is a good source of heat, comfortable furniture, gas stove, easily accessible hot tub, and great walking, sledding nearby. Wish we could keep it a secret-that nice!
House was comfortable and had all the necessities for a great Tahoe stay. When I-80 closed due to weather, the owners offered to accommodate our family until the storm passed. I would choose to visit again next time!
Overall, the home was comfortable, clean and welcoming. Positives were location, restful outside area, clean hot tub for relaxing, comfortable king size bed and working wi-fi. The kitchen was a bit dark, could use a good ceiling scrubbing and cooking supplies a bit limited for our taste. If planning menus, be sure to pack any special spices and/or cooking tools that you may need. Also, paper towels and toilet paper might be included on your list. The TV could use an update and although there was a stereo system, there were no instructions on how to use the stereo so bring your own music devices. Also, the BBQ was very dirty and required substantial cleaning before use. Just everyday things that one needs to be prepared for, but overall our visit was very pleasant.
We loved our stay in the cozy vacation home. We really enjoyed location, which was close to everything but still very peaceful. The house had plenty of open space, and we really enjoyed grilling outside and the going into the hot tub. The whole family had a blast and would definitely go back to this lovely place!
The Granlibakken trail head is just around the corner from the house, offering a trail well suited for hiking, trail running, and mountain biking. It accesses the Truckee River, Paige Meadows and, further along, ties into Alpine Meadows and the Tahoe Rim Trail. Generally, it is a good trail with moderately steep sections.
