About Eric DesLauriers

We have lived in Tahoe since 1989 and love it here. We both came to ski and live in these beautiful mountains and never want to leave. Eric has been a professional skier since 1989 and still works as ski guide and coach in the winter. Laura teaches school in Truckee. We know what it takes to make a great home here in the mountains and this house reflects our commitment to a comfortable life and a warm, happy, and functional retreat for our family and our guests.

Eric DesLauriers purchased this house in 1996

Why Eric DesLauriers chose Tahoe City

We chose this street and house because it is sunny, warm, flat with easy access, no traffic (on a horse-shoe road) and it is located close to town, skiing and wilderness trailheads. We are a short walk to downtown Tahoe City, and close drive of only twelve minutes to Squaw Valley. The house also offers a beautiful, large and private backyard bordering greenbelt forest.

What makes this house unique

You can enjoy plenty of warmth and comfort and functional use of space when staying at our house. We have made many modifications including large, custom-cabinets and stone floor on the entry way to handle the demands of kids and parents with active lifestyles. We have lots room to dry and store everyone's gear. The living and dining rooms seat the whole family with the gas fireplace to provide warmth and ambiance. Everyone will be toasty on cold nights with down-filled covers on all the beds. And the full-featured, private hot-tub spa will be a welcome warm-up after a day in the mountains.

Cozy cabin!

  • 3 of 5

Had a great stay in this cozy house - really enjoyed the location, the easy gas fireplace, the hot tub and just the overall coziness of the house. We stayed for a week and really enjoyed walks in the neighborhood with my dog, easy access to downtown Tahoe City and cooking in - the kitchen has everything you need to make a great meal!

A few suggestions would make the house even better - definitely need some type of deadbolt or additional lock on the back door. More than once, we thought the door was completely closed, but it blew open and it wasn't very windy out. Second, would be great to have a guest book for the house just to have easy access to instructions for checking out, how to use the tv/audio and hot tub. While this did not damper our stay at all, would have just saved us some time in acclimating to the house.

Great home!

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for us. Took myself and 5 others up to Tahoe from the Bay Area for a ski weekend and we couldn't have been happier with the space. Plenty of room, a nice table for board games, and the hot tub is glorious after a punishing day up on the slopes. The chairs and couches were also super comfy. We hiked up to Tahoe City through the woods in the snow (about a 10-15 minute walk) and walked along the river. Homeowner was easy to contact, and even came by to help shovel snow without being asked! I will definitely be looking at this place for my future Tahoe City trips!

Wonderful house

  • 5 of 5

We're already looking forward to returning next summer! This is a wonderful house for either a family with kids or a group of adults. There's plenty of room for everyone, both inside and out - the backyard is huge and is a wonderful place to eat a meal, sit in the hot tub or just hang out and enjoy nature. The hot tub is new, large and very clean. Everything, in fact, was very clean. A well stocked kitchen and a nice gas grill made meal prep a pleasure. Lots of thoughtful touches like board games, books and a good sound system made the place feel like home. The house is well located on a peaceful residential street and the walkability was excellent - it was an easy walk from the house into Tahoe City and also up to the Tahoe Rim Trail for great hiking. The owner, Eric, was a pleasure to deal with and sent a welcome letter with useful recommendations for places to eat in the area. All in all, we were very happy that we spent our Tahoe vacation at this house and would definitely recommend it to others.
