Guestbook comments from the manager

We had such a lovely stay at the Dome House. It is exquisite - we'd love to come back again in the summer! We relaxed, cooked, and enjoyed the wood stove. Our dog, Toby, parked himself right in front of the stove, and loved the shag rug! Everything was handled so smoothly in renting the house. Thank you so much!

Gorgeous comfortable home in amazing setting

  • 5 of 5

We spent a splendid week at this home. The location is really perfect. It is a nice short walk into the center of town but you are far enough away that you are completely out of the hustle bustle and nestled in the woods. The back of the house faces a beautiful meadow where we watched the deer frolic and many different sorts of birds swooping and feeding and nesting. It was serene and lovely. The patio is sunny and a great warm spot for breakfast and general lounging. There is also a large screened in gazebo with a hammock and picnic table - perfect for dinner after grilling on the bbq. Inside is equally as wonderful. The "dome" room is a large, very comfortable and cool room with a big open kitchen that is very well stocked with everything you need for home cooking. You definitely don't feel like you are in a rental home with just the bare minimum for cooking - we love to cook and were very happy with the kitchen supplies. In the living room area there is a big cozy sofa for reading, relaxing or watching a movie on the wall projector TV. The house comes with a great selection of movies and we watched a few on the projector - which was fun. The extension on the dome is really fantastic - the back wall of the house is essentially all glass looking out to the meadow. The upstairs bedroom has nearly floor to ceiling windows (bring your eye mask for sleeping in) and is huge, airy and gorgeous. The bathroom/shower/dressing area design was amazing and very thoughtful -- the shower is huge! The downstairs bedrooms are very comfortable also, and open to the meadow side of the house. I recommend this house highly for a couple or a family or friends get a way. It was a real treat to stay there. Also -- very close by is a bike rental shop - we rented bikes one day and rode from the house out and around the Ashokan reservoir, that was really fun and we saw bald eagles flying over the reservoir, which was a treat. We also saw a bear -- which was a little scary but also cool! There is a lot of great hiking in the area -- and a really nice run/walk in the woods from the house in the Commeau Property -- just across Tinker St. Finally, Kim was a very professional and helpful property manager. I'll also add that if you have a dog and happen to be in need of "doggie-daycare" while you are there -- Camp Belly Rub in nearby Kingston was A+++ and I highly recommend them as well. Thank you very much!

So much fun and relaxation

  • 5 of 5

Our group had a great time in the Dome house. We can safely say it is the most unique house we have stayed at! Since it was a crazy spring weekend, we got to enjoy the hammock and gazebo on a sunny afternoon in the peaceful backyard, chilly nights cozy by the fire while watching fun old movies projected on the dome wall, a bit of time in the very nearby, but not too close town, and a snowy morning cooking a big breakfast in the open kitchen.

We will be back!

Beautiful house in a great location!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife, two young sons and I thoroughly loved our 3 night stay here. Firstly the house is a gorgeous design….the geodesic dome is so cool, unique and cozy and then the mid century style modern wing addition is simply fabulous. The layout was very cleverly thought out and although it's a large open space it feels warm and friendly. The master bedroom is beautiful - I loved the large en suite steam shower room - and the other bedrooms, although smaller were a perfectly good size and with good light. My 6 year old loved the dome with it's pointed entry doors and triangular windows - he called it his palace!

Even though it was a short walk to the center of Woodstock, the house had a country feel to it with all the windows facing out over the property which looks like a rustic field. It wasn't really cold enough for us to light the wood burning stove in the dome or ignite the good looking gas stoves in the master bedroom and living room area but I can only imagine that it would be an extra cozy experience.

The house was clean, tidy and very nicely furnished. The kitchen was well equipped and had very nice lighting and I liked the butcher block counter tops. I really appreciated that there was lots of useful labeling on light switches etc and notes in appropriate places to make life easier for guests.

Our booking was very last minute and the manager of the house, Kim, was very easy to communicate with and we had no problems at all. We've already raved about the house to all our friends and would love to go back again soon!

We ate at the Garden Cafe which is vegan and very good - really light and cool decor. We also ate at Shindig a small but very good restaurant - we had a really good brunch there - and the Yum Yum Noodle Bar which is not outstanding but perfectly adequate. All these places are a easy walk from the house.

I highly recommend this house .

The property lived up to its description. The initial contact was prompt, businesslike and friendly. We appreciated the proximity to the village and everything Woodstock had to offer. Overall we had a delightful stay and would look forward to going back!

Expectations exceeded: best VRBO ever!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here over Thanksgiving 2014. I wrote a review shortly thereafter, but for some reason it didn't get posted. Today, I was recommending this property to a friend, and looked to make sure my review was there. It wasn't, so here goes, better late than never, and this property certainly deserves it:

This house was a perfect fit for our family of 6. Bedrooms and bathrooms were tucked away, nice and private for those seeking peace and quiet, while the dome part of the house made for a welcoming center where we would gather for games, or meals or just to hang out at the huge kitchen counter.

The modern additions to the house are straight out of Architectural Digest, with soaring ceilings and lots of glass framing bucolic views of gardens and fields. Sofas strategically placed here and there made for inviting spots to curl up with a book.

The overall impression is of lots of welcoming space, really interesting architecture, with books, art, and tasteful decor adding to the wow-factor.

The house is ideally located on a quiet country lane, just a short and scenic walk into the center of charming, bustling Woodstock village.

Sincere thanks to the property manager who warned us about an incoming snowstorm, and to the owners who allowed us to arrive early. You certainly bent over backwards, and went way beyond the call of duty to make sure our arrival went smoothly.

We've done several rentals over the years, and the Dome House was by far the best.

Definitely hope to come back some day.

We've stayed at the Dome House many times and have thoroughly enjoyed our visits. It feels like two houses in one; the dome part, with a well stocked kitchen, dining table and entertainment center, a large comfortable sofa, and a bright bath with a double Jacuzzi tub. .The modern wing has its own great room area, dining table, and three large bedrooms, all with private baths. The nighttime view from the master bedroom windows is stunning. I especially love a black sky with bright stars intermingling with fireflies, and you can’t tell the difference between them! The house is always clean, refreshing, endlessly interesting to look at both inside and out, and offers everything we want in a vacation home (walk to town, privacy outside, screened dining in the Gazebo, high quality entertainment system and kitchen, plus very comfortable beds).

Thank you,

Daniel
