Superb place for kayaking, canoeing, sailing and fishing as well. Spectacular biking and hiking in area. “A stone’s throw” from Eggemoggin Reach and Buck’s harbor, and neighboring Blue Hill and Deer Isle-Stonington. Less than an hour from Acadia National Park.

September is a beautiful month in Maine. It is still warm with bright sun and the colors are lush. For those of you who haven't experienced late September fall season in Maine, you are in for a treat! The trees' colorful leaves compare to none.

Lovely vacation home with friendly loons on the lake

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay at this well equipped charming home. We appreciate the clean spacious rooms. It is a wonderful place to enjoy Maine. We love having LL Bean braided rugs on the floor and quilts on the beds. Walker's Pond is a quiet lake that has at least 8 loons. We were out in the kayaks and 8 popped up around us. We enjoyed observing their interactions with each other. There is a comforting fire place and lots of firewood for chilly evenings.

Tranquil & so beautiful!!! A perfect memory making cottage that we will cherish!

  • 5 of 5

Patty & Robert Clapp couldn't have been better hosts! This home has EVERYTHING you could possibly wish for!! Plenty of space, ideal for our two family share! The beds were super comfy, linens perfect, kitchen outfitted with plenty of everything! Patty obviously had fun decorating this gorgeous cottage!! I'm thinking perhaps they did an LL Bean photo shoot here it is that beautiful!! The ping pong table was a hit when the rain brought us indoors and, when it didn't, the kayaks were wonderful for peaceful kayaking on Walker Pond with the Loons!! LOVE THIS PLACE!! We are so grateful that the Clapp family shared their beautiful home with us!! ❤️

Maine at it's best!!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5 adults were fortunate enough to rent the Clapp's beautiful cottage over Columbus Day weekend. What a peaceful setting!! The home is every bit as beautiful as you see. The owners are very easy to work with through the rental process and provide great information and resources when you stay in the house. The hose is secluded, yet you have neighbors- very nice!! We njoyed our time the house by touring Central and Coastal Maine. The day in Acadia(45 min- 1 hr drive) was fabulous. The location provided easy access as well as a very nice route. We also toured to Bangor, while I am glad I visited it, I would recommend another day in Acadia. We enjoyed Bar Harbor tremendously as well. We also enjoyed a nice fire in the fire pit down on the beach of Walker's Pond- a great end to a great day. The only considerations we ran into in this house for our party was the lack of television and weak internet and phone service. We had a need for communication with the outside world and was limited. However, we would highly recommend this house and area to most parties and especially to families with Teens or Young Adults.

Owner's Response: We were so excited to have renters over Columbus Day Weekend! Late September /early October is a beautiful time of year to be here. It it our favorite! The fall colors cant be matched. One of the drawbacks of living in some rural parts of Maine is the limited internet connection, but we hope that will change.
