Great cabin!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Highlands Hideaway cabin. The accommodations were perfect for our family of 3 and our dog loved running around the large yard. Our son LOVED playing with all of the toys, that was a great addition. Thank you for letting us stay in your home!

Utter Relaxation and Sweetness

  • 5 of 5

Perfect for our party of 4 adults and two dogs. We loved the spacious, sun-filled living room, warm fire, two comfortable bedrooms, two bathrooms, well-stocked kitchen. Loads of room for us. A few recommendations: more dish towels (we ended up using hand towels), a decent large plastic cooking spoon and some paper napkins. The futon made an "okay" extra seat....don't know how it would be as a bed. Kids would probably be fine on it. We really had a perfect time and would definitely return. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Had a great time!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the cabin. It was roughly 30 minutes to ski at Winter Park, and the 2 snow covered acres were an awesome playground for 2 boys and dog. The cabin is very comfortable, nicely decorated & furnished, and worked very well for our family of 4. We'll be back!

Peaceful and beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the home and the neighborhood. We were comfortable and had everything we needed. The kids loved the play cabin. A recommendation would be to have the windows washed in the main living room so one could better enjoy the view.

Decent. Could be better.

  • 3 of 5

I recently stayed here with my two daughters, my little sister, my parents and their dog. Since my daughters are small (5 and 7) they shared the queen size bed with me. Had they been bigger, I'm not sure we all would've been comfortable. The decor was cute. The closets had toys and games for the kids. The location is good. Quick drives to our places of interest. The outdoor space is very nice, great for bond fires and star gazing. Bring a telescope. I've taken one star off for cleanliness. The floors in the kitchen/dining area will leave your socks black and there is various dog hair everywhere. The little throw rugs in the kitchen are filthy, we tried hanging them outside and vacuuming them to get the hair, dirt and smell out with no luck. They just need to be dumped and replaced. I knocked another star off for the beds. The beds are old and worn spring mattresses. The King was especially bad and needs to be replaced ASAP, it has a huge dip in the middle that you notice just by looking at it. I was really quite surprised by how bad they were. Most rental places nowadays have good quality memory foam mattresses. I'd say overall this place was average. It has serious potential though. With a deep cleaning, updated mattresses and a finishing of the basement it could be 5 stars.

Owner's Response: I'm very sorry to hear that our home didn’t meet your expectations. I’m especially concerned about your complaint re: its cleanliness. If you had contacted the management company (or me) during your stay, I’m sure we could have helped by sending a housekeeper out to reclean it. I have discussed your concern with our management company to ensure that they are more thorough in their cleaning. In addition, our home offers basic amenities at affordable rates, similar to the nearby YMCA – we are by no means the Ritz. However, our nightly rates and pet fees are both lower than what the YMCA charges for a similar-sized cabin. And unlike our home, the cabins at the Y don’t include a dishwasher, washer/dryer, garage, TVs, and all the other items that help make our guests more comfortable. I remain committed to our guests satisfaction and would be happy to discuss this with you further.

Perfect, exactly what we were hoping for.

  • 5 of 5

My family 2 adults and 2 boys ages 4 and 1 year old vacationed at the highland hideaway over Memorial Day weekend 2015. The cabin was large and very nicely decorated, upkept, and furnished. We couldnt have asked for more family accommodations, it was great, like the child proof locks on the exit doors, toys, highchair, mattress protectors and movies. My dog saw deer out the windows and was terrified, it was hilarious! We cooked brats over the fire and burgers on the grill and loved the view of the mountains. It snowed every night and morning but we wore t shirts during the day! We rode bikes and visited Estes Park, Georgetown Loop Railrood and mine tours were spectacular! Great location, easy to reserve and check in and out. We honestly could not have been happier!
