In winter the leaves are gone from the trees, revealing even more of our view to include some of the Presidential summits. We are near six ski resorts and hundreds of miles of maintained hiking, cross-country and downhill ski trails in the Mt. Washington Valley and White Mountain region. Check out the February chocolate festival, annual ice carving contests and dog sled races. Take an ice climbing lesson on a frozen waterfall, go on a full moon snowshoe hike with a naturalist guide to learn about owls and see moose tracks, and ride a tram to a mountaintop to see spectacular views.
Year-round tax-free outlet shopping is available at brand-name stores in North Conway, just a few miles south of the condo.
Our condo is near Route 16 where you will find community theatre, artisan shops, traditional farms, cultural events, a public library, a weather museum, and the towns of North Conway and Jackson village. On Friday nights hear Celtic music in North Conway played by a duo called "Four Feet, Two Shoes" -- Dennis and Davey. The amazing Davey plays keyboard with his bare feet while also strumming a guitar and playing harmonica or singing. On Sunday mornings year-round enjoy the famous brunch buffet at the Red Fox in Jackson for about $10 per person.
Take a drive across the Kancamagus Highway to see mountain vistas, the Swift River, roadside parks, and -- possibly -- a moose. Drive the famous 100-mile scenic route through quintessential New Hampshire villages, covered bridges and two mountain notches with gorgeous vistas of the White Mountains. Local maps and activity brochures are provided to help you plan your vacation. Bring your camera - stunning views are everywhere.
During warm months, take a three-minute stroll to our outdoor heated pool (the largest in the valley when it was built), forest trails and tennis courts (racquets provided). Just a few miles across the Valley see rock climbers ascend the ledges. The condo is near to golf, a corn field maize, zip lines, train rides, water parks, and easy trails to waterfalls and vistas. Pick strawberries or ride a horse along West Side Road. It is easy to rent kayaks, hiking boots, and road or mountain bikes. Hundreds of miles of hiking trails are maintained in the White Mountains.
Plan ahead for a colorful autumn vacation. From late September to late October the mountains are dazzling with color. Drive around and see outdoor 'pumpkin people' displays in the towns of North Conway and Jackson. The hiking trails are beautiful with colorful leaves below and above.
There is plenty to do in the Mt. Washington Valley in every season!
I was born in NH and love the mountains. For work I direct a global connections center for a college near Boston, and in my spare time I lead hiking and kayaking trips in New Hampshire and internationally as a volunteer for the Appalachian Mountain Club. I try to hike a mountain a month.
Robin Melavalin purchased this condo in 2003
I couldn't resist the mountain views and dramatically changing seasons. There's a sense of wilderness combined with New England village life. We occasionally see moose grazing by the side of the road. There are good local breweries and a bakery with fabulous breads and granola. An organic market with smoothies, sandwiches and a raw chocolate bar is within a couple of miles.
This is a peaceful place surrounded by natural beauty and year-round activities. There is a lot to do but sometimes the day passes just watching the sky changing over the mountains with the mind at rest. At dawn the sun sometimes casts a red glow on the Moat Mountains. If you are an experienced hiker, I recommend trying the 9.7-mile trek across the Moats. Nearby, the Diana's Baths forest trail is wheelchair accessible and 1/2 mile each way to the waterfalls. The outdoor pool and tennis courts are a 3-minute walk from our condo door. Swim at night and gaze at the stars while you're floating.
The condo was very comfortable and the views were stunning. Watching the sunset on the balcony was one of the highlights of our trip.
The condo has everything you need to feel right at home and is just minutes from downtown North Conway.
Whether you are plans include hiking, skiing, sightseeing or just enjoying the view, this is the place for you. The condo is perfectly located to enjoy all that the Mount Washington Valley has to offer. We enjoyed being able to go to town and come back to the quiet of the our home away from home. It is perfectly appointed and well stocked to make your visit comfortable. There is plenty of room to spread out and relax. The owner was a joy to work with, professional and helpful. All of this added up to a wonderful stay and made it very hard to leave.
Beautiful views, very clean, and accessible to everything! We truly enjoyed our stay in North Conway and all of Robin's recommendations were great.
Stayed at this condo twice and both times had an amazing experience! So quite, comfortable, and the view is everything you could ever hope for!
We had a wonderful stay last weekend. Very nice condo unit. Well appointed and in excellent condition. Owner was wonderful to work with. Looking forward to our next visit.
The condo was very clean and had everything we needed. It was close to Attitash and North Conway (downtown). When we arrived, we had a question on how to turn on the hot water. The owner had left her cell phone number for us and helped us right away. We would love to stay there again.
The condo is in the eastern part of New Hampshire just 1 mile north of the North Conway town line, in the village of Intervale, and 1 mile up the hill from the intersection of Route 16 and 16A.
