Stonedrifts is located within minutes of Berkeley Springs, Cacapon State Park, and the C&O Canal. With the gorgeous valley views and mountain scenery, it is easy to just sit back and relax. There are opportunities for hiking, canoeing/kayaking, horseback riding, swimming, fishing, golfing, and antiquing.
While in Berkeley Springs, spend some time following in centuries-old footsteps by “taking the waters” in historic Roman Baths or treat yourself to one of the contemporary spas. If the spas don't suit you, delight in one of the many lovely restaurants and cafes situated throughout the town. There are self-guided tours of everything from Berkeley Springs State Park and the historic town of Berkeley Springs (Bath) to a county-wide driving tour of George Washington-related sites.
Cacapon Resort State Park is quite beautiful and encompasses over 6,000 acres. Over 20 miles of trails abound for the hiker visiting the park. From a leisure walker to an avid hiker, Cacapon has a trail to suit you. A short drive from the cabin will put you directly in the hub of all the park amenities, including swimming, hiking, biking, horse back riding, golfing, and guided tours.
Come relax at our cabin retreat. Nature's beauty is right at the doorstep at Stonedrifts Mountain Cabin.
We are from the Washington DC area and the working parents of two teenage boys. We always seem to be on the run in one direction or another (work/school/sports). We bought the cabin to find a sort of escape from the craziness of Northern Virginia crowds, traffic and commitments. We love that we can take an easy drive (about 2 hours) and be in a less stressful and more relaxing environment. The mornings are my favorite time. It's so quiet and serene. I typically make a pot of coffee, grab a blanket, sit on the deck and wait for the wild life to appear. We've seen a bunch of deer, wild turkey, a bobcat or two and even a bear! We love what the cabin provides....peace, quiet and an incredible sense of calmness.
Lisa and John purchased this cabin in 2007
We first purchased our cabin in 2007. We were looking for a place that would allow us to spend some good quality time with our family while at the same time, a place that would give us a place to recharge our batteries. Our kids are so connected to technology that we really were looking for a place to leave all that behind (if only for a weekend). The cabin gave us a place to reconnect. We play lots of board games, bake all sorts of cakes/cookies/pies, take long walks and explore. Our Great Cacapon cabin has become a wonderful retreat for us. Also, we've enjoyed a number of wonderful holidays here and love that we can get back to the basics at the cabin. Over the years, we've had lots of friends join us for weekend trips. Everyone loves it here! No distractions and no worries!
We love that the cabin is a short drive away (15-20 minutes) from Berkeley Springs, WV but welcome the seclusion that our place provides. We love that within minutes, we can be eating at a nice restaurant, taking in a spa treatment, watching a movie at the Star Theater, or browsing an art gallery or antique shop. Cacapon State Park is about 25 minutes away and offers all kinds of fun things to do (Golf/Horseback Riding/Fishing/Swimming/Trap Shooting/Hiking). The C&O Canal is also close by. You can fill up your day with lots of things to do...or simply sit back and put your feet up.
Lisa & John - Although I only rented your cabin for one night on 17 June, even a short stay totally helped me decompress from the hustle and bustle of life. On the outside your cabin appears rustic, and on the inside I found your interior design to be totally comfortable and cozy and anything but rustic. It was immaculately well kept and equipped with everything one needs. I loved the feel of isolation, despite being only 15-20 minutes away from town. Five out of five stars in my book.
Spent a long September weekend at this quiet cabin with our dogs. Glad for the clean modern comforts, and the satellite and well-stocked video and game cupboard. Enjoyed trips to the waters of Bath, the C&O trail and the winding wooded roads to get there. Owners provided prompt service. Definitely would return!
We really enjoyed our stay here. Very remote cabin above Berkeley Springs. It is quiet, beautiful, and private. Cabin was immaculate. Will be back.
I rented this cabin for my 11th Wedding Anniversary. This was my first rental on VRBO and first rental in WV. My wife and I can't say enough about this cabin. After spending the weekend here, if we rent again I cannot see renting any cabin but this one! If you want to "rough" it in the woods, this is not your cabin. If you want a cabin that reminds you of home, then this is the cabin for you. It was clean, stocked and had all the luxuries of being at home, WiFi, Dish TV and land line telephone which comes in handy being there was no cell service with AT&T and I would imagine it is the same for any cell service. There was a small grocer 10mins from the cabin and another 10 minutes and you were in the small town of Berkeley Springs. My wife and I ate at Lot12 and I can tell you that this rated as high as restaurants we have eaten out at in larger cities(Baltimore, Philadelphia, Boston, etc...) Again, can't say enough! I recommend this cabin to almost anyone.
We had a wonderful time during our stay. The cabin is beautiful outside and in and very well maintained. The central air condition was an welcome touch, as it was very hot (90+) during our visit and kept the entire cabin very comfortable. I especially enjoyed the isolated setting. No other homes or people were within view and we never heard another person or vehicle during our stay. It was peaceful, which was exactly what we wanted. The cabin was very well stocked with all the cookware, spices, etc. we needed and all appliances were in perfect working order. I would eagerly return in the future.
We had a wonderful time on our week long vacation to Stonedrifts Cabin. The cabin is in great shape and was very clean upon arrival. We were provided great directions from the owners on how to get to the cabin as well as how to access the cabin itself. The outdoor scenery of the cabin provides a beautiful view of a nearby mountain. The cabin itself is also on a small mountain side with a lot to explore. We brought our two dogs and this location is perfect if your dogs like to run around. The dogs had a wonderful time. The inside was well equipped and decorated very nice. We spent most days wandering around the mountain side that the cabin resides on. But I would definitely recommend visiting Eidolon Preserve which is about 15 mins away from the cabin on Orleans Rd. It provides nicely marked hiking trails, a little bit of history in a beautiful stone house on the property, as well as a stunning view on the Yellow Loop. The views out to the Preserve itself are beautiful as well. We visited the town of Berkeley Springs which is about 25-30 mins away from the cabin and it was a cute town with nice shops to visit, but pay attention to the days and times they are open most places are only open Fri-Sun. There is also a historic hot springs spa in Berkeley Springs but we did no visit it. I would also highly recommend dining at Panorama At The Peak restaurant which is right on your way to the cabin, about 15-20 mins away. It provides an amazing view of mountains and valleys as well as the Great Cacapon River cutting through. There is also a great atmosphere, service, and wonderful farm to table food. Again, pay attention to the hours and days they are open. The owners were easy to work with and prompt in responding. I had a couple questions while at the cabin and received a response and resolution quickly. The only thing that could be improved about this experience were the beds and some curtains on the bedroom windows. The beds are very flat and firm and a couple memory foam mattress toppers would do wonders. Also it got light around 5:30 a.m. when we were there and not having curtains on the bedroom windows is hard for those who are light sensitive or like to sleep in. Be prepared for bugs as well if visiting during the warm months. Overall I would recommend this cabin to any potential renters. Thank you again for opening up your cabin to us.
The Cabin was lovely, quiet & well kept. We had everything we needed, very well stocked. The dogs had a great time walking in the mountains. The cabin has a lovely deck & although our weather was lousy the first 2 days of our stay we enjoyed the area. Cacapon State Park was fantastic & the views were amazing. If you are looking for a beautiful cabin in the woods this is the place.
