What enchanted us about this condo was its peaceful wooded setting by the Blue River. It is a second-floor corner unit, quiet and private, close enough to the ground to hear the river and high enough to have a spectacular view of the snow on the pine trees.
In the winter, sit in front of the fireplace and watch the snow falling on the pines outside your window after a day of breath-taking skiing. In the summer, sip a glass of wine on the balcony off the living room as you listen to the rushing sounds of the Blue River nearby and relax after a day of playing in beautiful Colorado. Or just curl up with a book or a movie in the bright and sunny living room.
This cheerful and spacious 1,600 sq. ft. unit has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths and is just 150 yards from the Quicksilver chairlift at Peak Nine base, a five-minute walk from Main Street and the heart of Breckenridge, and is surrounded by miles of skiing, hiking and biking trails.
Why the Owner Chose Powderhorn: We picked Breckenridge and this particular property for a number of reasons. We live in Boulder, Colorado, so Breckenridge is conveniently located--we can be there in less than two hours. We were there in the summer of 1996 and stayed at a place near the Blue River. It was a typical Colorado day--the sun was shining, the sky was blue, it was hot but without the humidity that plagues so many other states--and we thought: Wouldn't it be nice to have a place here. The rest is history!
Our condo at Powderhorn is right next to the Blue River, so in the summer we can leave the doors of our deck off the master bedroom open and go to sleep to the sound of the river gurgling beneath us.
Why the Owner Chose Powderhorn (continued): Powderhorn is also adjacent to the Peak 9 Quicksilver lift, so an easy ski-in ski-out for DeWitt. Sandra, who does not ski, likes the fact that in less than 5 minutes on foot she can be in town. Of the various ski towns within two hours of Denver, Breckenridge is by far the largest and the one with the richest history. So after a hard day of skiing or biking we can enjoy some truly outstanding restaurants.
The Unique Benefits at this Condominium: In the winter, skiing, of course, is the primary activity. In the summer we enjoy biking and hiking. There are miles of trails in all directions. The ambitious biker can even bike to Vail!
And the condo is large enough that it feels like a real home. It is 1600 sq. ft. with a huge living/dining area, a deck that can comfortably seat 4, and a large kitchen for those who love to cook. City Market, which is affiliated with Kroger and King Soopers, is close by and a great resource for good groceries. And there are some great restaurants that we would be happy to recommend. Oh, and don't forget to ask us about the best bran muffin . . . !
Summer guests please note that the pool and hot-tubs are being renovated so they will not be available for the summer of 2018 starting April 1. The current hope is that the work will be complete November 30 and ready to reopen on December 1, 2018.

We are retired and love to travel. When we travel we almost always stay at Bed and Breakfasts because we enjoy the personal touches that each place offers to the cold anonymity of most hotel rooms. That is why we have decorated our condo in warm and vibrant Mediterranean colours and have hung family and travel photos on our walls.

Our group loved the location and the condo was the perfect size for 2 families.
So glad you enjoyed your stay!
Condo was nice and spacious but not really ski in/ski out.
While we enjoyed the accommodations and location to town, we were disappointed in the “ski in/ski out”. You are not able to actually ski to or from the Quicksilver lift. It was a walk including steps to go to and from the mountain. The condo was well stocked with linens and kitchen utensils. Very comfortable with nice view of Blue River.
Breck for New Years!
We have stayed over the years in over 10 different properties and places through VRBO. This condo was at the top of our list of well kept, convenient and amply supplied properties. We had a minor issue (kid's toilet flusher was broken) and property management responded and fixed in inside of an hour (on Dec 31st!). It had a GREAT view of the new year's fireworks. A wonderful thing since we had been up since 3am flying. The kitchen was well supplied and we had groceries delivered which made coming 'home' at the end of the day so nice and easy. A great floor plan for us and our 3 kids! Really made for a fabulous and relaxing vacation!
Thank you for the great review. So glad you could see the fireworks from the condo!
Great place to stay. Perfect location. Rest and Recreation.
Everything worked out perfectly for our stay. Thanks for providing a clean, well equipped home away from home!
We had a wonderful vacation! The condo is beautiful and in an awesome location. It is nestled in the treetops yet on the river. The sound of Blue River is one that we will surely miss.
The location was perfect for our family. It felt as though we were on a secluded mountain retreat yet it was just a few minutes walk to downtown. When my husband and son spent the day flyfishing about 30 minutes away- we didn't feel stranded. The rest of us went for a short hike and then went into town for lunch and a bit of shopping. It was great.
The owners were quick to get back to us with any questions we had. They also had great suggestions for what to do when we arrived in Breckenridge. We would highly recommend this condo.
Thank you, Jennifer, for the great review. You spoke about going for a hike and then walking into town. That's exactly why I love Breckenridge. When we go in the winter, my husband skies, and I can go into town. The condo feels like it's in the middle of nature, but the town is easily accessible. I hope you will return soon!
Nice condo, but a management company from Hell
The condo itself was perfect, but the management company should be fired. One day while we were gone, someone let themselves in, and when they left, used a key to put on the dead bolt. Since our kids were in Vail having a late dinner and had the only key, we had to sit in our car for almost 3 hours at 10pm waiting for them to return and open the door. When I told Meghan at the management office the next day, she said she knew of no one who was scheduled to enter the unit for any reason, and would check into it immediately and get back to me the same day. When we left 3 days later, she still had not returned my call. In packing and leaving the unit, my son, who has a brain tumor and is on heavy meds, found that the person had stolen one of his bottles of Ambien, which cost hundreds of dollars. If we had the time, we would have filed a police report.
Dave, we are so sorry you had a bad experience with the management company. We have spoken with them to make sure something like this never happens again. Thank you for your feedback.
POWDERHORN ON THE BLUE RIVER: Powderhorn sits just above the Blue River where it flows into Maggie Pond. It is perfectly situated for easy access to Peak 9, the heart of the Breckenridge ski area, the ski school, skier necessities and services, a web of picturesque foot paths along the river, and the town's Main Street shops and restaurants. In the winter, Peak 9 not only features many acres of terrain for Beginner, Intermediate and Expert skiers, but also offers quick and easy access to both Peak 8 and Peak 10. Peak 9 is the core of the ski area; the location could truly not be better.
The trailhead for the Forest Service Burro trail is also nearby, providing opportunities for snow shoeing, hiking and mountain biking, depending on the season.
Other Activities: shopping, kayaking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, spa, racquetball, basketball, sleigh rides, ice skating
