Orleans House Rental Photos and Description

4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, 2 kitchens, ping pong & pool table, outdoor shower, TOYS!

Sorry, but the fall and winter of 2016 are now rented to long term tenants. Vacation availability begins in May 2017.

If you are interested in 2017, the price is $5,400 per week from Saturday, July 1 through Sat. Aug. 26, 2017. We get many inquiries, so if you see an availability that can work for your group, let us know right away as we get completely booked every year from Memorial weekend thru mid October. (Mid October thru mid May the house is rented long term to winter residents.) The price quoted is for 10 people. For more than 10, the price is an additional $100 per person.

Nauset Beach House is a beautiful, comfortable home PLUS a connected cottage, located in the very desirable area of Nauset Heights, East Orleans, just 2 lots away from the Priscilla Landing/Nauset Inlet and a walk over the dune to famous Nauset beach. Our location is ideal for people who have beach, boating, fishing, surfing, bird watching and athletic interests. The boat launching area into thousands of acres of the Nauset harbor is only about a 2 min. walk from property.

Spacious and beautiful, Nauset Beach House offers 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths (plus a great outdoor shower!) along with a 2nd kitchen and a 2nd living room in the attached, remodeled cottage.

This 2nd living room/dining room can also be used as a 5th bedroom as it has a comfy daybed and a new high quality memory foam queen size sofa bed. The 2nd kitchen area offers an extra refrigerator, micro, coffee maker, and beautiful granite seating area. The cottage also has a pretty bedroom with 2 twins beds and a full bath.

The cottage has its own outside entrance and is connected by French doors and a pretty hallway to the main house. These can be closed for quiet and privacy. This is perfect for grandaprents or others who want to be with the group but enjoy some space too. (The main house and the cottage are always rented to the same group.)

Inside the main large house, there is a large 880 sq ft great room with 27 windows. There is a modern kitchen with a granite island to seat 5, a big dining table for 8-10 and a large living room with 2 new Sunbrella sofas, comfy chairs, 46" HDTV, Comcast cable, WIFI, etc.

Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms--the two beautiful queen bedrooms both have water views, one with private bath, the other with a walk out water view deck. From that deck there is a spiral staircase to the observation deck with water views & often gorgeous sunsets over the inlet.

There is also a cute, nautically themed 3rd bedroom that sleeps 3, with bunk beds and a single twin. There are 2 Pack N Plays for your use as well. Both upstairs baths are spacious with full tub/showers and double Corian sinks, custom cabinetry, etc.

In the walkout basement, there are both ping pong and pool tables, sofas for hanging out and watching the games, and lots of beach toys, boogie boards, skim boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, beach umbrellas, strollers, and a fun red wagon to haul stuff in. This is also where the washer, dryer, iron and ironing board are.

Total inside square footage is 3,800. Outside of the house are 610 sq ft of 4 big decks, furnished with multiple tables and chairs, lounges, etc. With all this space, there is lots of room for folks to move around and spread out.

The house is built of natural woods and is low allergy/non toxic, as are our cleaning products. To honor our guests with allergies, no smoking or pets are allowed. Our flower gardens and lawns are all organic and chemical free.

Please contact us, the owners, for more information, photos, contract details, future availability, and check out our new website, www.nausetbeachhouse.com

Because this is such a great house for entertaining, we have a limit of up to 12 guests to maintain its' fine condition. We do not rent for graduation, weddings or other parties, nor to underage individuals.

The house is professionally cleaned from 10-3pm between each Sat. changeover. We provide a beautiful vase of flowers from our gardens upon check in and organic greens from our gardens when available.

As we live near by, we will check you in personally and are always available to help with any of your questions or concerns. In the meantime, we are happy to email you lots more photos.

As is customary on the Cape, we do not provide sheets or towels, but do offer plenty of pillows and blankets. For those not wanting to bring their own, the linen charge is $12 per person for sheets and towels and we request that they be washed with Free and Clear laundry soap and folded as much as possible before check out.

If you have a big family or group and are serious about renting Nauset beach House for 2017 it is wise to act early to disappointment. All of June, and July and the first 2 weeks on August are reserved. The last 2 weeks August 2017 are available and some of Sept. and Oct.

The shoulder season of May/June and Sept/Oct are much less expensive but equally nice as there are fewer crowds but still lots to do and often wonderful weather. The 3rd weekend in Sept. offers the many free, fun events in Orleans called "Celebrate Our Waters". October has the wonderful Wellfleet Oysterfest. As we receive deposit checks, we block out the weeks that are reserved.

AMENITIES------

We take pride in the fact that Nauset Beach House is exceptionally well equipped! There are 2 kitchens! Between them we offer a dual fuel Jenn Air range, quiet Bosch dishwasher, Cusinart food processor, 2 refrigerators, 2 microwaves, 2 blenders, 2 coffee makers, coffee grinder, 2 toasters, lobster & pasta pots, waffle iron, griddles, and many pots, pans, serving dishes, utensils, etc. And a gas BBQ. Everything needed to feed a group....

WIZARD OF OZ Memorabilia: And most unusual of all, for fans for the famous movie 'The Wizard of Oz', we have a large collection of the personal memorabilia inherited from our Uncle RAY BOLGER who played the Scarecrow in that wonderful movie. We have many of his personal items on display here--- his dance shoes, top hat, his Tony Award for Best Actor, house keys, address book, photos with many celebrities and US Presidents, family members, etc.

For those with other tastes in amusement we have an extensive library of humor books--Dilbert, Calvin and Hobbs, Doonsbury, Garfield, New Yorker, P.G. Wodehouse, etc. There is also a section of non- fiction books, cookbooks, Cape Cod guidebooks, top fiction and a wonderful children's book collection and some quaint vintage such as the Nancy Drew series. Another shelf has over 300 Dvds many of them HD as well as many Cds for musical pleasure. Plus a 46' HD TV with Comcast cable in the main living room. The are numerous games, puzzles and poker for those inclined in 2 cupboards, a set of blocks, cars and trucks, many, many toys, Barbies and her clothes, stuffed animals, etc. Like many other items in the house and kitchen, toys are replaced annually as they show dirt or wear.

HISTORY: In 1940 the original cottage was built to serve as lodging for the Worsely family during duck hunting season, chosen for its' ideal proximity to the marsh and waters of Nauset Inlet. Awhile ago, it was purchased by Mark Picton, a professional builder, who built the current main house as a 2,800 sq ft 'addition' to the original cottage. The two houses are connected by a wide hallway & french doors and the Ray Bolger memorabilia display cabinet. Another Picton building project, a beautiful house in Ct., very similar to ours, was featured in the November 2009 issue of Fine Homebuilding Magazine.

LOCATION:

Nauset Beach House is located in east Orleans which is very convenient for great walking/exploring/playing at Nauset inlet or the more famous Nauset Beach.

Nauset inlet is very calm and more like a bayside beach with warmer water and fun little pools for kids to expore. There is also great kayaking, standup paddle boarding, sailing, water skiing, canoeing and boating here, a 3 minute walk from the house. Just over the dunes is big Nauset Beach which is often voted one of the top 10 beaches in the US and was selected by the Boston Globe as best walking beach in New England. There are over 10 miles of gorgeous waves, white sand and dunes, seashells, pretty beach rocks, driftwood and wildlife.

There are beautiful sunrises, excellent bass and blues fishing, surfing, sunbathing, full moon rises, and swimming in cool ocean waters.

Why Richard Thompson chose Cape Cod

This prestigious area of Nauset Heights was developed over 100 yrs ago and many of those same families still summer in their original cottages. Our location is ideal for people who have beach, boating, fishing, surfing, bird watching and athletic interests. The boat launching area into thousands of acres of the Nauset harbor and marsh system is only about 200 feet from the end of the driveway. The calm water is always a favorite place for kayakers and standup paddle boarders, which can be rented by the half or full day in Orleans.

Feel free to bring or rent small boats/kayaks for easy launching & our private lot has ample parking. This unique property also offers access to our Nauset Heights Assoc private staircase down to Nauset Beach. The house is just over a mile away from the public parking area of the famous Nauset beach.

The majestic waves of the open ocean at Nauset Beach are only a 15 min. walk over the dune from the boat launching area.

This was our 2nd summer week at this beautiful home. The sprawling layout easily and privately accommodates our family of 12. The private yard is wonderful for family dinners and play for the grandkids. The home is open, clean and cozy. The easy access to the bay and ocean is an added plus. Our hosts are helpful and very welcoming. A perfect place!

Signed up for our fourth stay!

  • 5 of 5

We just competed our third year staying at Ann and Richard's property. It is well appointed, Ann and Richard do a tremendous job thinking of everything you may need and are welcoming hosts. From infants to seniors, there is something for every age: toys, music, videos, games, area information, books, a game room and lots of the necessary beach essentials: chairs, boards, umbrellas, toys and coolers. We have been so pleased with the quality of the home, it is clean and very comfortable. Our family of 10 ranges from toddlers to seniors. The property around the Home and cottage provide a beautiful sanctuary to rest and relax at anytime of the day. The gardens are beautiful and serene and the bird watching is plentiful. It is located only a few miles from town to provide ample shopping possibilities.

We loved having you once again and Richard got such a kick out of the kids enjoying the handmade blocks. Glad you were able to enjoy some of the garden herbs, the basil and the kale are needing to be picked! Have a great year, looking forward to seeing you again next summer!

Amazing home and neighborhood!! Will come back!

  • 5 of 5

Richard and Ann have created a wonderful, welcoming home with every amenity one could think of! The beautiful, private yard is quiet and peaceful, but close to beaches and town. The house easily accommodates extended family gatherings or groups of friends. We had a family reunion here last week, drawing people from NY, MA, NH, PA and OR. Three families stayed in this house and others at my parents' home in South Orleans, but we all spent time together at this wonderful place - 4 generations! We had one big dinner with everyone out on the porch, and the open concept living/dining/kitchen area was the scene of many late night talks, meal preparation, and movies. The great-grandchildren enjoyed playing hide and seek, wiffle ball, and croquet in the yard, and pool and ping-pong in the basement when they weren't at the beach or playing board games in the annex dining room. Others enjoyed sailing and kayaking in the bay, early morning walks over the dunes to the north end of Nauset Beach, sunset strolls to the staircase on the heights to enjoy the view or jumping in for a swim in the "swimming hole" down the beach. There was plenty of room to spread out, and the separate original cottage was perfect for the family with little ones who went to bed early and woke up before the others. Many wonderful memories were made and new friendships gained with Richard and Ann, who were wonderful hosts and next door neighbors! None of us wanted to leave and we all hope to repeat this again next June! (Almost don't want to spread the word about this special place!)

Our location in East Orleans is very desirable & convenient for great walking/exploring famous Nauset Beach. Nauset Beach is often voted one of the top 10 beaches in the US. There are over 10 miles of gorgeous white sand and dunes, seashells and driftwood. There is great kayaking, standup paddle boarding, canoeing and boating here, just 200' from the house!! Up the street, our prestigious neighborhood of Nauset Heights has it's own set of stairs leading down to a beautiful and very uncrowded section of North Nauset beach. At the main Nauset Beach, the public parking has 300 parking spaces with several lifeguards, clam shack, restrooms, etc and is just 1.5 m. from the house. Nearby Rock Harbor is known for amazing sunsets and charter fishing tours. About 1/3 of Orleans is salt water bays and inlets and there are several beautiful fresh water lakes also. For activities away from the beach, downtown Orleans is a main shopping area, with many large and small stores. Selections include, Christmas Tree Shop, TJ Maxx, Stop N Shop, Shaw's, Friends, Staples, many boutiques, antiquing, consignment shops, 4 good thrift shops, great restaurants, gourmet ice cream, Nauset Farms famous deli, Sat .farmers' markets. Other adventures are the nearby Audubon Wildlife/Bird Sanctuary, Wellfleet Swap Meet, the Cape Cod Rail Trail for miles of biking, Nickerson State Park for hiking, Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, whale watching, fishing boat charters, 6 golf courses, and many churches. ENJOY!

Other Activities: Bird Watching--We have a bird bath and feeders and have taken many great photos of regular visitors such as chickadees, grackles, mockingbirds, blue jays, cardinials, nut hatch, goldfinches, woodpeckers, etc etc-- and of course the ubiquitous chipmunks and squirrels looking for easy pickings.

The world famous Bird Watchers General Store is located in our town of Orleans is very amusing and carries any manner of bird related objects. The owner is an author of an informative & humorous book ' Why Don't Woodpeckers Get headaches?' Because we use no poisons, our yard also has many tame bunnies and has been frequented by beautiful foxes, wild turkeys, etc.

Cape Cod is definitely one of the most beautiful places on earth. It is home to great beaches, majestic dunes, scenic roadways, historic homes, harbors, coves and much, much more. For many decades, the Cape has been a destination for family vacations, weddings and reunions of every type. Orleans and the immediate area offer plenty of fun things to do for all ages. Beaching, boating, sailing, surfing, fishing, golfing, shopping, antiquing and just relaxing to name a few--as well as great local food and fabulous seafood.

Golf on Cape Cod is also a favorite among visitors to our beautiful area.. We have hosted golfing families and groups of friends who enjoy the many and varied courses available on the Cape. Orleans is a great location to use as your home base while hitting the links. There are a number of both public and private courses in the mid and lower Cape. Off season - many of the private courses offer golf packages to non members and reduced greens fees are available at public courses as well. Public courses include The Captains Courses in Brewster, Chatham Seaside Links, Highland Links in Truro, Cranberry Valley in Harwich, Dennis Pines and Dennis Highlands in Dennis, Bayberry Hills and Bass River in Yarmouth.

Captains Golf Course is less than 9 miles from the house. The Captains is Cape Cod’s premier public golf course facility, located in Brewster, Massachusetts — the golf capital of the Lower Cape! The staff includes PGA professionals available for lessons and clinics. There is also a fully stocked Pro Shop and a full restaurant. The course is conveniently located off the Mid-Cape Highway Route 6.Tel: (508) 896-1716.

The Chatham Seaside Links was built in 1895 and is located 11 miles from the house. It is a 9-hole course that is centrally located right in downtown Chatham. Though it is a smaller course, golfers of all levels are sure to find some challenges here and getting matched with a 3-some is never too long a wait. The holes consist of mostly par 3's and 4's.
