We know there are endless choices for wonderful places to stay and play. We are confident that you will thoroughly enjoy staying at our fantastic condominium at beautiful Tiara Sands. Close enough to everything and just north of Mazatlan's Golden Zone so you can enjoy tranquility, peace, and beauty. Originally built in 1991 as the Pato Blanco Resort, this structure uniquely captures the traditional Mexican design and rich heritage of old Mazatlan. This complex has been completely re-built and completed in 2009.
More about Tiara Sands: Originally the building consisted of five floors. Three top floors have been added which include large junior penthouse and penthouse units. The original building had only one penthouse. Our condo sits directly on top of that unit on the new sixth floor. It boasts 12' ceilings and feels large and spacious. Porcelain floors and cedar finishings are complemented by granite counters and stainless appliances.
This is a lovely modern condo unit in a quiet building. It very clean and very well maintained. We have rented here two years running and are looking forward to returning soon. We stay for a month at a time and have found this condo to be just perfect for our needs. Three bedrooms, two of which are large master suites with ensuites. The third bedroom has two single beds. We don't use the third one so it's great for storing our luggage. The open floor plan living room, dining room and kitchen make the place feel even larger. Large floor to ceiling sliding balcony doors lead to a large balcony overlooking the pool and also gives a great view of the ocean just steps away. The balcony at the other end of the unit overlooks the street and gives a great view of the city and the marina across the street. The kitchen has modern stainless steel appliances and is very well equipped for those of us who prefer to prepare some of our own meals. There is washer and dryer set in the condo for laundry. The owner always provides us a package detailing some great activities and attractions in Mazatlan. The owner even has a couple of local pay as you go cell phones at the condo for guests to use while there. We simply buy the minutes at a local bodega. They're great for making local calls. We arrange for a local lady to come in and clean once per week through the owner. She cleans up the entire condo and the cost is reasonable.
The pool / hot tub and sun deck area are a great place to meet some of the other residents. The pool itself is mostly shaded for much of the day but you can bake away the day on the sun deck and get plenty of sun there. There are literally miles of walkable beach just off the sun deck. There is a small gym on the main floor.
There are several good restaurants in the area and the bus stop is just a few steps away. You can catch the bus or a pulmonia that will take you into the Golden Zone, Old Mazatlan or out to Playa Bruja.
The owners are a very nice family and they make the rental process very easy. If you have a larger family group, this is an excellent choice for accommodations.
We have rented this unit two years in a row and look forward to going again as soon as we are able. This is a lovely, modern well kept unit with great views. Huge bedrooms with private baths. It has a great kitchen with modern up to date appliances for those who prefer to eat in. A nice living room area with satellite tv. You can't beat this place. A very nice open floor plan. The photos depict the place exactly how it is. There is even a small gym on the main floor for those who like a morning workout. A lovely pool and hot tub on the common deck with lots of lounge chairs for those who like to soak up the sun. Miles of very walkable beach with a nice restaurant and bar about ten minutes down the beach. There are also several other restaurants within walking distance. This is a private residence building that is very peaceful and quiet unlike some of the resorts that are non stop loud music and constant noise until the wee hours. It's a short walk to the main street where you can get a bus or pulmonia into the heart of Mazatlan
When we got there the place is as neat as a pin. We arranged for maid service once per week as we feel we can pick up after ourselves for at least that long. Arrangements for the maid can be made through the owner.
The owner is great and makes the rental process very easy. We were able to do the entire transaction online and were never disappointed. We simply made our arrangements with the owner. He sent us a rental agreement and we went forward from there.
We have now stayed here twice and have yet to be disappointed. It feels brand new and very clean. The last time we took our 4 children and found it very comfortable for all of us. The owner had a packet of information we found to be very helpful with places to eat and shop, with options for transportation. They had detailed which bus to take to where and we found bus transportation dirt cheap and convenient with a bus stop just across the street; but if we couldn't find the right bus coming back pulmonias are everywhere and not very much money either.
We liked being in a more private setting off of the goldzone. It is very quiet and peaceful at Tierra Sands. We went in March and in June which is their off season and both times there were very few people on the beaches, if any, so it was pretty sweet.
It feels pretty warm that time of year when walking around the gold zone etc but at the condo it was always very comfortable. My favorite thing about this place are these huge sliding glass doors that open to the balcony with an amazing view of the ocean and allow a constant ocean breeze to blow through the place; it is a constant reminder that you really are right on the beach. At night we would close the doors and turn on the air conditioning so the pounding surf wouldn't keep us awake, but otherwise the smell and feel of the ocean breeze through the condo is amazing.
The kitchen was great and I found everything I needed to cook etc. The owner had good instructions of where to go for groceries and better still, a list of places to eat. Our favorite place of those he suggested was a place called the cave of the lion; amazing food for very little money. We also like Chili Peppers and Pancho’s that are right on the beach. Our kids like the aquarium and the water park but more than anything they loved the beach and the pool.
The staff at Tierra Sands is very nice and extremely helpful. They were happy to call cabs or make arrangements for fishing etc. The pool and facilities were always clean and well cared for. The condo had reliable wifi.
