Try a completely different vacation on a Sausalito Floating Home.
Walk down a lush flower filled dock to arrive at ''Sidari'' (named after our favorite place on Corfu). Enter the private gate, walk down the ramp and up the steps to the oversized deck of our lovely vacation rental. Gaze at the views of San Francisco, the Marin headlands and Tiburon/Belvedere. The deck is outfitted with a large glass table, 6 chairs, an umbrella and lounges.****Note, this floating home is located in a deep-water berth which is very desirable***Enter the French door to the open Living/kitchen/dining area. Look out the floor to ceiling windows or greenhouse windows to the Bay below. A seal might just swim by! The living room features a large wood burning fireplace, pergo floors, a couch, and a TV.A breakfast bar with 2 stools and a glass dining table with 4 chairs are used for eating. A seal might just swim by! The living room features a wood burning fireplace. There are two bedrooms with water views and each has a king bed. The King bed in the second bedroom may be turned into two twins. The bathroom features a pebble floor and newer fixtures. The original art by local artists is everywhere. The views from Sidari in the living, kitchen are magical, especially at night you can see the twinkling lights of The Bay Bridge, a glimpse of the city and the beautiful bay all around you.
Why the Owner Chose Sausalito: This was our primary home for 7 years until we bought a large one. Sausalito is a magical place with views changing moment by moment.
The Unique Benefits at this Houseboat: We often stay at this houseboat when we are in town. We look forward to the tranquil open water views and picturesque vistas from every window and the deck. We always take a kayak ride out to visit the resident seals and view the San Francisco skyline. The deck is a perfect place for afternoon cocktails and to waved to the passing boats. On those chilly nights we light the fire and curl up on the couch to read.
I am the local Realtor who sells most of the floating homes. I live just a few doors away from Sidari and I am always available to help you find places to eat, tours to take or activities to enjoy. I also allow you to use my double kayak and canoe when you stay at Sidari besides the two kayaks that are on board.
Owner purchased this house boat in 1991
Sidari has a special whimsical charm that captures the heart and soul of all who stay here. You will see why when you arrive.
Views that knock your socks off!!!! Fireplace on chilly evenings, fully stocked with everything you would find in your own home, kayaks, whimsical original art with a seaside theme. Lots of towels and sheets, large deck with table and umbrella. Sip wine on the deck or kayak to a local bar.
My mom and I loved itJ It was so tranquil and relaxing. We both wished we could have stayed longerJ You have an amazing little piece of paradise in Sausalito. I loved all your little decorations in your house. So very charming. We are keeping you on our list for any future quick get a ways. My mom and I did the dishes, took the trash out, striped the sheets, and added new sheets to the beds, cleaned the sinks and cleaned the toilet as wellJ
Thank you again for letting us spend 1 night on your houseboat. It was exactly what we needed for the last night.
Two friends and I had a very enjoyable months say on the houseboat!! It was a truly unique and comfortable experience. The pictures and description are accurate! It was very comfortable for 3 people and could accommodate more. We learned to sail in Sausalito during our stay too. Molly Stone grocery store is close by for food if you want to cook your own or there are plenty of local places you can go near by for meals. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans and the like. Michele, the owner, was very quick to respond to our questions! Will do again!!
You couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay. From the moment you step on the dock you know this place is something special. The Sidari is so airy and comfortable and well equipped we wish we could have stayed longer. The kitchen is well stocked and Molly Stones market is just a short walk away so we didn't eat out as much as we had planned because it was so nice eating out on the deck. We really enjoyed the kayak to paddle around in and see all the floating homes and the seals and ducks etc. For going out and exploring, Sausalito is a nice 25 minute walk or you can take the bikes or the bus right at the corner so you don't have to worry about parking in town or you can catch the ferry to San Francisco, Napa is less than an hour away, and we did lots of hikes in and above Muir Woods and around Mount Tam. Muir beach is a nice drive and lunch was nice at the Pelican Inn on the way. It was nice to come back at the end of the day to the peace and quiet of Liberty Dock and sometimes the cat came by for a visit too. At night the lights of Sausalito and Tiburon are beautiful and you can see the lights of the bay bridge in the distant. The bed was super comfortable and bathroom very nice. It was nice to have the washer/dryer as well. We felt very lucky to have spent a lovely week on Sidari, and we hope to return to this lovely area to do more exploring or just do nothing at all.
We loved everything about Sidari and the whole floating home community in which it is located. Artfully decorated home, cozy, clean and ample space for five. Loved the deck, kayaking, and slight rocking some of the time. ( I have motion sickness tendencies but this was so slight it did not bother any of us-- we rather enjoyed it! ) Michelle was a most gracious and helpful host and we would definitely recommend!
This was my third stay on Sidari and I can't recommend it highly enough! The location is beautiful-set on a quiet, friendly dock with kayaks and bikes to help you explore the local area - and there's so much to do.....It's an easy bike ride into Sausalito where you can catch the ferry to the city or head along the nearby bike path to explore the boutiques and restaurants of Mill Valley. The Bayside Diner and The Anchorage are just a few minutes' walk away and serve breakfasts and lunches that will keep you coming back for more! Or if you prefer to take things easy, just grab a coffee or a glass of wine and sit on the deck, watching the world go by.....Sidari is well stocked with the basics, and there's a grocery store close by for everything else. It also has a washer & dryer which I found to be invaluable. If you do need anything, Michele, the owner, is incredibly helpful and can't do enough to ensure you have a fabulous time.....A houseboat holiday is a unique experience -and it'll make me think twice before booking a hotel ever again!
My sister and I finally took our much-delayed retirement trip, spending it in Sausalito on this charming houseboat. We were in Sausalito the third week of August and the weather was perfection every single day. The houseboat was charming and comfortable. We enjoyed the mornings on the deck with our coffee, watching the fog clear, and the evenings on the deck with our happy hour cocktails. Occasionally our friendly "harbor cat" would come by for a visit, pawing at the door to be let in and then curl up in a chair for a nap. We (and the cat, I suspect) felt totally at home. This is a lovely alternative to a hotel. In fact, I'll not likely opt for something as mundane as a hotel room again. This is a great way to livel like a local. Thank you Michele for everything!
Michele was an excellent host. We could not have rented from a nicer person. She was there for our every need. She made sure our vacation was unforgettable.
We are located on the water, Richardson Bay, approximately 5 minutes by car to downtown Sausalito and 15 minutes by car to San Francisco. There is a bus across the street from the parking lot that takes you to the financial district and clock tower of San Francisco which is where the 'famous' Saturday Farmer's Market takes place. We are 5 minutes from Mill Valley and about 35 minutes from Muir Beach. In the Summer there is a free concert every Friday night at the Ferry Terminal. Bring a pic nic and wine and sit under the stars....
Other Activities: shopping, kayaking, boating, wildlife viewing, health/beauty spa, hot air ballooning
