About ALLAN RUDICK

I have lived in Florida, New York City, and Jamaica. Have traveled the world looking for beautiful destinations, and have found this area to be one of those 'world class' destinations. Graduated Queens college in New York City, majoring in Business.

ALLAN RUDICK purchased this house in 2009

Why ALLAN RUDICK chose Alajuela Province

I have traveled to Costa Rica numerous times over the last decade. I have found this area to suit me, because of the natural beauty, and easy-going lifestyle. Also have friends that live in area.

What makes this house unique

I enjoy the serene and quiet environment, while still having easy access to the local restaurants and shopping in the nearby town of El Castillo and La Fortuna. I also enjoy the benefit of friendly neighbors, and the green style of living.

My 3rd Stay at Birdsong!

  • 5 of 5

Birdsong is amazing! I returned for my 3rd stay since 2009. Allan was hospitable as always and treated us like family. Breakfast every morning was delicious. We did a few dinners at the villa as well and it was fantastic. Allan set us up with reservations at the Ziplines, Butterfly Conservatory tour, Hot Springs, horseback riding and Phoenix Restaurante just down the road from his villa. My wife and I took our kids (5 and 2 years old) and they loved everything about the trip too. The views are just as spectacular as ever and we are already looking forward to another stay at Birdsong.

Read all reviews throughly

  • 3 of 5

I will begin by saying that Allan is a very kind man and that he does take time to talk to his guests. He had a great recommendation for the hot springs for my family. The house does have an amazing view of the volcano and the observation deck is awesome. However, I do have some things to point out that I would have preferred knowing prior to booking.Everyone does have their own opinions of things and I do recommend you thoroughly read all reviews prior to making a decision based on your accommodation preferences. I should have read the reviews a little bit more thoroughly and also researched and read the reviews that are on trip advisor about the house.

The property is described as luxurious. In my opinion it needs lots of TLC. The Garden view shower flooded after the first shower and the toilet in the Bird’s View Suite was not flushing. Alan did immediately help out with both situations. The house looks like it needs a deep cleaning. The ceiling is covered with something similar to bamboo and we frequently had bugs drop down from it.

The night before we drove to the house I began to read some of the reviews more thoroughly. I discovered from the reviews that the road is very bumpy.I called Allan to ask if he believed my taxi driver would be okay with driving us there.I hadn’t read this on the reviews before:/

He said that taxis drive there all the time. The property description doesn’t mention that the access road is a non-paved road, it takes approximately 45 minutes to drive on this bumpy road and it has lots of pot holes after it rains, and the final stretch of the road is all dirt, very narrow, and it’s steep and slippery after the rains.I would recommend hiring Allan’s taxi driver as he drives these roads frequently because my taxi driver was ready to turn back after he experienced the road.

Expect lots of odd bugs and geckos in the house. We stayed at a previous house in Costa Rica prior to coming to this house and it was nowhere close to having the same amount of bugs.We didn’t sleep all night because bugs kept landing on us all night. I recommend for you to bring netting for the bed.We didn’t stay the second night that we had booked for this reason. If I wanted bugs landing on me all night I would have slept outside on a hammock.Garden view room is very small for the additional mattress. It takes up most of the living room and kitchen area. The additional mattress is an air mattress.

Owner's Response: This was a family of 6 (4 children & 2 adults) four of the children stayed in the Garden view suite, so the door was kept open most of the time & because of this bugs entered the apt. At night when the door was closed the bugs could not get out. The apt is equipped with windows that open & have screens to prevent any bugs from entering. This is a jungle & rain forest where you find bugs (part of the beauty). As far as the shower flooding, as the guest said it was taken care of within 10 minutes of them notifying me. Any house can get a stuffed drain once in awhile. the toilet was due to the same problem. The road from the main road to the house is about 6 miles & in the rainy season it does get somewhat bumpy, but no way does it take 45 minutes to go 6 miles. It is true that taxis & vans come up this road everyday without any problems. As a matter of fact my car is not even 4 wheel drive & I have no problems getting to my house. the taxi driver they had was just trying to get more money for the ride. You only have to look at all the 5 star reviews I have to decide for yourself.

  • 5 of 5

I couldn't have been more impressed with this home. Allan was great to work with and very hospitable. The views are almost unreal. The home is beautiful and comfortable. Perfect for couples or honeymooners. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and it was so nice to not have to leave the property. We will be back!

Perfect for Honeymoon

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here during our honeymoon, the property is absolutely breathtaking. Allan was very helpful in helping us book activities in the area. Location was perfect, secluded but just a short drive from everything you could want to do..zipling, waterfalls, hot springs all just a 10-15 minute drive.
