ENJOY: Whistlepunk 29 is an exceptional mountain chalet experience. Right on the ski trail, wood fireplace, splendid location, superb appointments in excellent condition. Caring owners have created a great place for a couple with children, or 2 couples together. For larger families, we have more Whistlepunk units, all close together.

OCCUPANCY LIMIT: Designed for 4 adults and up to 2 kids/sub teens. Larger party? Ask us about suitability. We have other larger and smaller rental properties available, too.

Mountain Delight

We have been going to Snowshoe for 5 years now and have rented several places before we discovered Whistlepunk 29 - we rent it now every winter, sometimes 2 times! For our family ski/snowboard trip this place is perfect in every sense! Awesome location to the slopes and you can head right down the mountain without getting on a lift - so for first trackers it is awesome. It is current and up to date just as all the pics show and very well kept. The amenities are awesome with it being a corner unit and amazing fireplace that brings lots of family time together!

The rental staff is hands down the most accommodating and hospitable you will find and they make sure all details before, during and after your stay are handled with the utmost of customer satisfaction.

The condo itself is so charming and cozy and it is has everything a family will need! We cook and we have not seen a better stocked kitchen as far as equipment and utensils. We stay in this unit all the time and it is always very clean and ready for our arrival. On a few occasions we had very late arrival to the mountain and they had security go and unlock it for us and turn on the heat!

There are 6 of us in the family and our 4 kids love the place too!

Nice condo if you can deal with the noise

The good: nice, rustic, ski-themed decor, plenty of good quality supplies, and the detailed information supplied by the managers. In particular, the 6-page information guide covered everything you could need to know and was much appreciated...other managers on VRBO could learn from this example. Also we liked the convenience of parking right on the level with the condo. It's also an easy walk to the village. You can come here, and leave the car parked. The condo was clean (at least as clean as properties like this can be) and the linens were even in special packages so you were assured these were clean. We really liked the wood-burning fireplace and appreciate having plenty of wood available. These kind of details add a lot to the experience. Also, there was no need for a check in, which is very convenient and welcome after a long drive to get there. I feel the manager does an outstanding job, compared to most VRBO rentals we have done over the years.

The descriptions and photos of the condo are correct, except for a few points that should be disclosed...

The bad: this is on the 2nd floor of a 3-story, wood frame building. It is noisy! The unit above (#30) is a large condo owned by some inconsiderate people that we constantly had to remind to keep their small children under control. Letting kids run around like wild animals is inappropriate in any shared setting, but the truth is the building has such a lack of soundproofing that you will hear any footsteps, conversations, etc. The kids merely add to the experience by making you think the ceiling will fall in on you. The condo to the side was fun too: phone conversations at 1AM could be clearly heard in our bedroom...every word of them. So beware. Unless you get lucky and nobody else is around, you will have to deal with noise.

The other disclosure is the description of being "ski-in/ski-out." This is not really true. There is a "trail" behind the property that is directly accessible, but it's not a "trail" in the skiing sense of the word, i.e. groomed or ski-able. You will have to tromp the 100 yards over to where the lifts are.

Finally, you will have to complete your transaction outside of VRBO. This was not expected. Our experience was that VRBO reported our requested date as "unavailable" but the manager contacted us directly (and after the 24 hour window) to make arrangements for payment by check only, and totally outside the VRBO system.

Great Place to stay!

Great condo in a great location. Just right for our family of 5. Easy access to the slopes and a short walk into the village. The condo was stocked with everything we needed including a crockpot so we could come in from the slopes at lunchtime for a hot bowl of soup. Updated decor with a nice cabin feel. We are already planning our trip for next year and will definitely stay here again.

Above and beyond

This was our second year in a row at whistlepunk. Exceeded our expectations for the second year in a row. After receiving 39" of snow in 7 days we were what they called "orphans of the storm" Kip and his team went above and beyond to accommodate our family! Can't wait to come back next year!

Great place to stay

We stayed here for five nights we had a Great time. Unit was as promised we were pleasently surprised. Great location for us easy to ski in n out but not in the middle of things. We enjoyed been in the nice quiet setting. I would stay there again next year. Very easy with no check in or out just show up and enjoy!
