Welcome to our characterful and well-equipped house wonderfully located in the heart of a lively village. The house dates from around 1600 and is full of period charm but also comfortably modern including two newly renovated bathrooms, two separate WCs, and a bright new kitchen.
The house offers an excellent base for Frankfurt as well as for exploring the surrounding countryside. Frankfurt central station can be reached by direct train in 40 minutes (the railway station is just 5 minutes walk away).
Windecken-Nidderau is an attractive large village with many half-timbered streets and the remains of a castle above. The house is located just off Windecken’s Renaissance market square which has several local shops, a good bakery and an excellent ice cream café. The popular Carolus restaurant is in the same street and other restaurant and café options are within walking distance. Nearby (10 minutes walk and 5 minutes drive) is the Nidderau shopping centre, including a Rewe supermarket. Here you will also find a cinema, an indoor swimming pool, and an outdoor pool from May to September.
The area offers good walks across hills and woodland and the Saint Bonifatius long-distance footpath passes by the front of the house on its way between Mainz and Fulda. In easy reach are attractions like the Ronneburg castle, the Celtic Glauberg, the Roman Limes, and the walled town of Büdingen. The house offers easy street parking and its own parking space in the gated yard directly at the front door. For warm weather there is a private roof terrace with a BBQ.
