Beautiful views and plenty of beds

  • 5 of 5

Took a recent trip to Lake Tahoe for an annual ski trip. Karen's house is tucked away in a beautiful cove that overlooks the lake from its back porth. The house has plenty of room (3 floors) and has a great open setup. The house is also secluded enough where you don't feel like you are on top of your neighbors. Lastly - very close to the local Safeway (2 minutes) which was hugely convenient. Definitely recommend!

Great space for a large family or group

  • 4 of 5

The house was a great space for our large family and I absolutely LOVED the kitchen! Perfect for anyone who likes to do a lot of cooking. We also went in the winter so it was nice to have a hot tub indoors. The hot tub room isn't heated. However, when you're in the hot tub, it's totally fine. A few things to note however: The bedrooms on the first floor and room on the very bottom floor aren't connected to the main heating system however the owner had the foresight to include space heaters, which worked well. The Wi-Fi was also spotty at times but overall, a great house to stay in with a large group!

Spacious, comfortable home in a great location with an incredible view!

  • 5 of 5

A larger group (~13) slept comfortably over an extended weekend stay at this location. The house is exceptional for entertaining a higher number of guests. The spacious kitchen and dining area(s) allow for an atmosphere fit for dining in and relaxing. The added living room with a pool table provided extra comfort and entertainment. The back patio was our favorite spot with a gorgeous view of the cove and distant neighboring homes, we felt at ease enjoying the quiet mornings and lively afternoons without concern of noise pollution. Karen is great to work with! I'll highly recommend this spot to friends and family in the future.

Great family time in Zephyr Cove, Lake Tahoe!

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family of 12 (3 children from 5 to 11, a 19 year old and 8 adults) stayed in this beautiful home for a week during July. It’s very spacious, with room for everyone to spread out, lots of places to just sit and read or chat, and two wonderful decks with incredible views over the lake and the forest.

The kitchen is large and well stocked, and we made good use of it. The dining room was big enough to seat all of us together. We also had happy hours and a birthday party for the 5 year old on the deck right outside the dining room, which has a long picnic table and benches, as well as a big umbrella.

The living room has comfortable couches and a pool table, used by many of the guests. There are games in the cupboards, and a huge TV screen (which we didn’t even use, as there were TVs in several of the bedrooms).

Everything was very clean and in good condition. One thing that potential guests should be aware of is that there are 35 steps down to the house from the driveway where the cars are parked (plenty of room for our 4 cars—we could have gotten more in there!). This helps make the house very secluded and private—we really never saw any neighbors at all. There are good railings on both sides of the stairs (one goes all the way to the house), but there is no accessibility for wheelchair-bound guests, at least as far as I could see.

The house is a short drive to South Lake Tahoe with its many interesting restaurants, especially in Heavenly Village. There are several good beaches nearby; we enjoyed Pope Beach (with its trees that provided much-needed shade when lying on the sand) and Round Hill Pines especially. Both rent kayaks and other devices for going out on the water, and Round Hill Pines sells food. However, be sure to get to these beaches early (by 9:30 on the weekend) to get a place in the parking lots! It’s also a short ride to the Nevada/California border, where there are many casinos.

There are lots of wonderful places to hike. We took a great hike on the Van Sickle Trail (suitable for all of us, from the 5 year old to her grandparents), which is located in Van Sickle Bi-State Park right behind Heavenly Village. It’s only about 2 miles roundtrip, going up to a nice little waterfall, with great views all the way up and down.

All in all, we had a wonderful family vacation. Karen was very responsive and helpful when I wrote to her with many questions before we arrived. I highly recommend this vacation home.

Beautiful House

  • 5 of 5

This house has beautiful views off the deck, great hangout areas and an amazing kitchen! Plenty of space, clean and well-kept. It was a great fit for what we needed.

Entrance is a little tricky, as there is only a small driveway visible from the road, but going down stairs to the property gave a feeling of added privacy. If you don't do stairs well, this house is not the best option for you.

About Karen

I'm Karen Packman and a real estate agent at Chase International. I first came to Tahoe in 2000 and fell in love with the scenery and activities. Over the past 16 years we've worked hard to provide our guests the best vacation experience.

Karen purchased this house in 2002

Why Karen chose South Lake Tahoe

Centrally located with great lake views and lots of space. Close to the best beaches in Tahoe, casinos, and Heavenly ski resort.

What makes this house unique

I lived in Philadelphia suburbs and saw this home in the internet and dreamed about it. 6 months later I bought it! It has a unique setting with front yard. It has great entertaining spaces.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a great time. Loved the house. We're coming back in the winter for skiing.
