About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 1-5)

Welcome to River View Cabin located on a point of land above the Skykomish River at the base of magnificent Mt. Index, and about 25-35 minute drive, depending on weather and traffic to Stevens Pass. The view from the cabin windows, the hot tub over the river, the deck, and your own grassy beach is a unique and unsurpassed experience -- a relaxing and inspiring way to view the wild beauty of the dramatically beautiful Cascade mountains. See up close the river wildlife such beaver, otters, ducks, salmon and trout, eagles, and herons. The cabin is 464 square feet each floor, is fully equipped, has Wi-Fi, electric heat, word burning stove and firewood, a washer/dryer and laundry soap, stereo for iPhone/iPod, and satellite TV with DVD. The 45 square foot bathroom, with sunny yellow walls and panel, has a shower, sink, toilet, bath towels, body soap, and hair dryer. We provide hot tub towels. You only need to bring change of clothes and food to cook. There is queen size bed on the first floor with 2 inch memory foam, flannel sheets in the winter/fall and cotton sheets in spring/summer, and 2 blankets and a quilt. On the second floor is 2 full size beds. Both floors have view decks. At this special cabin, there is a wood walkway to a grassy yard at the river edge. Your dog is welcome.

The uniquely beautiful location above the Skykomish River

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had such an amazing time!!! We were fortunate to stay a whole week and wished it could be longer. It was so wonderful to watch my dogs swimming in the river and having the time of their lives! My favorite part was in the early morning when the sun was coming up and river surface was covered by mist. Rita, you made our stay soooo welcoming and personable. You took the time and effort to make sure every detail of our vacation was wonderful ... we see your magical touches everywhere. We cannot wait to come back! This was like our home away from home. Thank you so much!

Great Spring Break Getaway...

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to get away…river, possible fishing, and hiking and then to be able to relax in a hot tub…and then we found the cabin by the river. Rita was quick to respond to all of my questions and then helped me book it very quickly. It was so easy to get to; we were there before we knew it.

Bridal Veil Falls and the Lake Serene trail head is literally just down the road...the hike was great!! We could not have had better weather while we were there. The hot tub was welcomed after the long hike…and to sit and hear the roar of the river while relaxing was perfect.

A river otter visited us the last night we were there enjoying the camp fire alongside the river. The views from the deck were spectacular and we had a fantastic stay! Everything we needed was already there!

Rita, thanks again for everything…we look forward to our next trip up.

This cabin was a perfect cozy hide away for us!!!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a weekend getaway and we definitely pick the right place. The cabin was so cozy and the views were so beautiful and to top it off we had a private hot tub. Just down the road you can hike up to this beautiful waterfall called the bridal veil falls. This time a year it was frozen and so amazing the hike in the snow was amazing and romantic for the two of us. The owner was very kind and so sweet and all about making us comfortable for are 3 night stay. We were sad to leave but grateful for the time we had.

Rustic, charming cabin with incredible views and accommodating host

  • 5 of 5

We and another couple stayed there recently this past December. The cabin was absolutely perfect!! In my opinion, it was charming, comfortable and had everything we needed for our short but perfect stay. The kitchen has everything you need to cook as if you were at your own home. The bathroom was spacious and the bedrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs, were cozy, The beds were comfortable and warm. There is a nice clean grill on the deck not far from the hot tub, This area was probably our favorite. Nothing quite like being in a hot tub listening to the river surrounded by snow covered scenery. Rita was also great, we met her for a short orientation to get a quick rundown on how to use the keypad, hot tub and other little small but important details. Glad we did as the keypad is one that we had never used. All in all I would highly recommend this little treasure of a place. We will definitely be back.

Great location but has some downsides

  • 3 of 5

The cabin has a great location, nearly sitting on top of the river. The hot tub is large and very nice, but is about the only thing remotely new about the cabin. Our party consisted of 3 people and we only stayed two nights and didn't spend any time during the day at the cabin. If felt cramped and small for 3 people so I wouldn't recommend a larger party, especially if you plan on hanging out there during the day. The ad says its 25 minutes to Stevens Pass, but it was more like 35 minutes.

I agree with Jill S.'s review that it was very annoying to have to meet the owner at the cabin and have her explain in excruciating detail every component of the house. I've never experienced that and I've rented vacation homes and cabins at least a dozen times. What made it even more annoying is that meeting her required us to delay our dinner by over an hour to accommodate her schedule (we had to drive past Gold Bar for 20+ minutes to get to the cabin, meet with her for 20+ minutes, and then drive 20+ minutes back to Gold Bar for dinner). She seems like a nice lady but it was a real inconvenience for us and she was somewhat condescending toward my teenage kids. Nothing she told us couldn't have been provided in written instructions.

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed the spectacular nature environment. I regret the communication was not a good fit. The orientation is light switches to the wood shed for safety in the dark, how to use the keypad to enter the cabin, how to use the hot tub so it does not get broke and affect subsequent reservations, and imprinting card. Arrival is usually about 4:00 p.m. When I was there at our agreed upon time around 6:00 p.m. and learned it could be up to 2 hours later to stop for dinner, I advised about the restaurant choices in nearby Gold Bar. If anything gets worn looking or old, we replace it with something new, excluding antiques. I will analyze the process, to do a better job of meeting expectations including providing choice of no orientation. Kind regards from Rita

Unbelievable Cabin & Views with Wonderful Host

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was so clean & cozy. Unbelievable surroundings with such a peaceful, quiet location. It was like a little piece of heaven all to ourselves. We stayed for five days with our Beagle, he loved it. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. It was just like being at home, but better. We caught trout and had them for dinner...yum! The bed was so comfortable. Rita thank you so much for sharing your cabin, we will definitely be back again, and bring our whole family this time.

Many Blessings to You,

Jeff, June & Elliott the "Beagle"

cozy river cabin, amazing for a couple's getaway

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is really something special - it is so nice for a couple's getaway. It is cozy and compact but you never really feel squeezed - rather just cozy. (We didn't even use or go upstairs to the loft area but I am sure it's nice. If you don't pull out the ladder it is an excellent place to put your shoes to keep them out of the way) The view out nearly every window is of the river. Even with the near-constant rain we were still able to enjoy the hot tub and deck. The hot tub feels nice and private. The kitchen is fully appointed, the bathroom is roomy, the bed was super comfortable. We saw herons and ducks and fish jumping in the river. I am disappointed that I didn't see a beaver but you can see beaver-felled trees just across the river so maybe if you stay longer than a weekend you might see more wildlife. I especially loved hearing the train go by at night. I can't wait until we're able to visit again!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for sharing about your experience. The resident river wildlife is a lot of fun to observe in this part of the river where they live year round -- beavers, otters, herons, eagles, various river ducks. The salmon get as big as 3 feet and leap in the river, and trout are indeed tasty. Thank you for letting me share this getaway experience. Respectfully from Rita
