About the Area: St Teresa is a beach side community made up of private homes owned mostly by Tallahassee residents. Only a handful of people live here year-round so the beaches are not only private, restricted to homeowners, but also unpopulated most of the time. St Teresa is in the middle of a National forest area and the forest goes almost to the water. Our water is very shallow and we do not have large waves and undertow. Best for Fishing! Our wide white sand beach stretches for miles. We are about 15 minutes (north-west-east) from small communities that have fine dining (casual). Please bring extra beach TOWELS, and expendables (TP, Soaps, etc.). All utensils. coffee makers, blender, toaster ovens and microwave are furnished. St Teresa is where my family spent the summers. I grew up on St Teresa beach and it has not changed in 60 years. This is NOT LIKE PC, DESTIN or St George Island type area or water!! Good fishing off beach or pier. It is Exclusive and Private. Wooded.Trees, Private Beach, no lights and a sky full of stars at night. Watch wildlife, empty beach, wind through pines, relax and unplug. Put our beach chair in the shallow water and take a nap. Enjoy the area for the Natural Beauty surrounding you. You will be in a very secluded very wooded area with Nature all around you. Enjoy it. This is the last of it Florida has to offer.
The forest goes down to the water. We have animals and birds. The fishing is GREAT from shore or our nearby dock. Great local restaurants just 10 minutes in all directions. Excellent golf club and grill just 6 minutes from the house. WE ARE DOG FRIENDLY!
We had such a great stay at this house. The beach was so quiet. There were so few people around, especially during the week. The water was pretty clear and the beach was great for walking along. The house worked well for us and is dog friendly (no carpets, thankfully, so it is easy to just sweep away the sand). The futons in the living room and the bed in the main bedroom were comfortable, showers in bathrooms worked just fine, and the kitchen is well equipped. The outdoor shower was good for washing off sandy feet after visits to the beach. The house is in an ideal location for taking day trips. Lots of places to visit within an hour or so in all directions: Tallahassee, St. George Island, St Marks Wildlife Refuge, Apalachicola ... The list goes on. We had such a fantastic stay here and it was so difficult to say good-bye!
Location was great. Lodging left much to be desired. Bed was not comfortable and there were no towels, toliet paper, kleenex, or papertowels. A good cleaning would be good. Needs some updating. Loved the beach and watching the sunrise.
Third year at Crazy Dolphin. Had good weather, good seafood, happy dog and finally caught a redfish. Plan on being back next year.
While this spot may not be for everyone, we enjoyed our stay in this area. The house could use a spring cleaning and the layout is a little odd but the quiet, natural beach and proximity to many amazing locations and things to do make this a great bang for the buck. While it sleeps 6 I would say I'm not sure that would be a good idea unless a set of parents with kids or a very close family. The only private bedroom is the small back bedroom, the master is open loft and must be walked through to get to the small other bedroom so no privacy (we were just a couple so had no issues of course). The fireplaces on both levels were very nice and women will want to choose the main floor bathroom :) Hot water tank runs out before the tub is full for a nice hot bath though, but a shower was fine. The very quiet beach (most of the homes only occupied by owners on weekends) was amazing and just be aware, it's a natural beach so things wash up (which we loved to find new things every day) but can be a bit smelly (got used to just fine in one day though). There is a very long stretch in either direction for walking on the white sand and even more beach during low tide in the morning!
The area is great, stock up at walmart in crawfordville before arriving and you're all set. St Marks Wildlife Refuge, Wakulla springs boat tour and Apalachicola are must dos.
Definitely would recommend overall!
If you truly are in need of peace and quiet, this is the place. It's a very comfortable home with private beach access and hardly anyone around. On christmas day we were the only ones on the beach. We stayed for a week and walked the beach every morning and encountered other residents only once.
The only ones making noise are the squirls and an angry bird ( cardinal) fighting his own reflection in a window.
Apalachicola is 40 minutes away, well worth the drive. Great restaurants and nice shopping. Supermarkets are not nearby, but the road to Carabelle or Panacea is good and not very busy.
The owner was very friendly and advised us were to go for shopping, entertainment and even which garage to go to since we had a puncture in one of our car tires.
Do the Jungle tour in wakulla springs park (excellent!), drive to the st Marks wildlife refuge and the lighthouse later in the day for spectacular sunsets, have lunch or dinner in Apalachicola
If you're in for peace and quiet and a lovely deserted beach, this is the place.

It's hard to find something similar to this secluded paradise unless you're willing to pay quite a sum of money. This is not a busy resort, rather a peaceful beach that, while it is lined with homes, does not have many people. (At least when I was there.) You're pretty much by yourself on about 2 miles of sand.
Being remote as it is, yes you will find bugs, flies etc. Just bring bug spray. While they say there are alligators I didn't see any. As a general rule there are alligators wherever there is fresh water in Florida, you just get used to it - they do not bother you unless you swim in their marshes. Yes there is seaweed on the beach, being a quiet, non-tourist beach it isn't raked every day. But the sand is white and sugar-like, and you have the beach to yourself!
The home is quite nice. You get an ocean view from pretty much every square foot of the house, even the laundry! I love the fire places, which are great for the evenings.
There's an outdoor grill, a nice yard in front of the house, and then walking over the footbridge you get to the beach.
In driving distance there's a ton of stuff to do, which being Florida's Forgotten Coast, is different than what anywhere else has to offer.
30 minutes from Wakulla Springs 'World Deepest Freshwater Springs' the Jungle Cuise is a must do, visit the Gulf Specimen Aquarium, and you are just 30 minutes from historic Apalachicola, and St Marks wildlife refuge, Shelling on the beach and on nearby St George Island State Park. Great area for Parks with outstanding Facilities. St. Marks Wild Life Refuge, Wakulla Springs State Park, Cape San Blas State Park, Fort San Marcos, Bald Point State Park...Inquire for details.
