What is SAINT TERESA? St Teresa has 130 years of history. St Teresa is only 5 miles of quiet, exclusive, secluded second family homes. A beach community nestled deep in the National Forest. It is only available to owners and their guests/renters. There are only 8 RENTAL PROPERTIES really on St Teresa Beach. Please Google map St Teresa to see where we are and where we are not! (St Teresa does not include Alligator Point, the River, Carrabelle or Summer Camp Beach club rentals). The St Teresa community is over 100 years old. An exclusive private community with few rentals. We are directly on 5 miles of very wide continuous beach... you do not walk down a road or drive to the beach. St Teresa properties are passed from generation to generation. Each home/lot has a minimum 1.25 acres and some are over 2-3 acres. We are unique in this area of Florida. We have a history, miles of beach, you may not see a soul your entire stay. We have modern well managed homes with every comfort. This is not a rental area, you have a home at St. Teresa.
A true 'Eco-vacation' at the Lazy Dolphin ....our cottage is located on Florida's 'Forgotten Coast' where the forest meets the beautiful Gulf water. Far from traffic and city lights Saint Teresa Beach is like Florida was 100 years ago. You will be in the forest with miles of private beach at your front door. Great fishing right off the beach and a dozen local restaurants nearby. Welcome to 'Old St Teresa' with over 100 years of family enjoyment and history.

About the Area: St Teresa is a beach side community made up of private homes owned mostly by Tallahassee residents. Only a handful of people live here year-round so the beaches are not only private, restricted to homeowners, but also unpopulated most of the time. St Teresa is in the middle of a National forest area and the forest goes almost to the water. Our water is very shallow and we do not have large waves and undertow. Best for Fishing! Our wide white sand beach stretches for miles. We are about 15 minutes (north-west-east) from small communities that have fine dining (casual). Please bring TOWELS, and expendables (TP, Soaps, etc.). All utensils. coffee makers, blender, toaster ovens and microwave are furnished. Google map us at 3974 St Teresa Ave, St Teresa , FL 32358
People who have enjoyed our home over the years come to walk on the secluded beach, enjoy nature all around, and a fresh seafood meal. Enjoy what Florida was like 100 years ago. St. Teresa. There is nothing like it anymore.

Moved to St Teresa in 1996 and work with the local CBS affiliate operating beach web cams across the panhandle of north Florida. Enjoy meeting people from all over the world with our nearby vacation rental property.
Steve Metzke purchased this house in 1994
St Teresa is where my family spent the summers. I grew up on St Teresa beach and it has not changed in 60 years. This is NOT LIKE PC, DESTIN or St George Island type area or water!! It is Exclusive and Private. Wooded.Trees, Private Beach, no noise, no lights and a sky full of stars at night. Watch wildlife, empty beach, wind through pines, relax and unplug. Put our beach chair in the shallow water and take a nap. Enjoy the area for the Natural Beauty surrounding you. You will be in a very wooded area with Nature all around you. Enjoy it. This is the last of it Florida has to offer.
The forest goes down to the water. We have animals and birds. The fishing is GREAT from shore or our nearby dock. Great local restaurants just 10 minutes in all directions. Excellent golf club and grill just 6 minutes from the house. WE ARE DOG FRIENDLY!
Our family loved staying at the Lazy Dolphin. The beach was perfect, so quiet and peaceful. My husband and sons loved fishing off the beach and dock. The house is exactly as described and extremely clean. It's the perfect getaway spot if your trying to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Theresa Beach is a favorite of ours. The "Lazy Dolphin" exceeded our expectations. Everything we needed was there! Fully stocked kitchen - we brought most of our meals and did not need to go into town - keeps the vacation economical. The furnishings were very comfortable and thoughtful right down to night stands and wicker luggage storage chests. The shared open living areas rooms are very spacious. VERY private beach, beautiful sunsets, tidal pools for wading and playing. Master bed could use a cushioned topper (but that's a personal preference), Perhaps a few lower tree branches could be trimmed to provide a better view of the beach from the house deck ... but all in all ...a great place. I look forward to staying here again.
Had great time!! Just trying to update payment method to receive refund of deposit!!
I just read Linda B. July 2016 review and felt that I had to respond. Many of the reasons stated for the poor review are the reasons we rent this property each year. Steve and Nancy welcome our dog and are wonderful hosts. The house is comfortable and provides everything we need. Many days we can be on the beach all day and not see another person but those we do meet are friendly and welcoming. We love watching the wildlife; Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Bull Sharks, Rays, Crabs, a Fox at dawn while walking the dog on the beach and even the Bears and Alligators. There are wonderful restaurants close by and plenty of things to do; Appalachicola is a short drive and a wonderful town to visit and spend the day. We can't wait to make our reservations for this coming winter.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by Steve, due to us getting a little lost (we blame the GPS!) Steve showed us around the rental property and explained the things we needed to know, key on the counter, how to use the TV remote etc. Apart from that, we only saw Steve and Nancy one other time when, I believe, their Nephew visited them. The house is definitely private and out of the "rat race". This is definitely the "Old Florida" we were looking for. There was some sand on the floor when we arrived and the dishwasher definitely needed to be cleaned but that was soon remedied by us purchasing a $2 dishwasher cleaner at the local Dollar store. Some of the cutlery and dishes needed to be given a once over clean. Definitely add this to the cleaning crews list of things to do and don't rely on ALL guest to clean everything as well as you would want them to. The beach was amazing. We saw maybe 3 people on the beach while we were there for the whole week and was so nice and peaceful having the beach to ourselves. Be aware, if mosquitoes bother you, then yes, you are going to get bitten. I would definitely suggest bug spray but I would imagine that is any place in Florida at that time of the year. We saw dolphins playing a couple of mornings and my Fiance did catch a couple of sharks off the beach and a couple of other fish. Yes, the low tide is out during the morning and the day but if you have a smart phone, you can download a tide app and it tells you the low and hide tide times, as well as the sunrise and sunset times. St. George's Island is definitely worth a visit or two if you love fishing. We were there until around 7pm one night and the sharks were coming in close to shore. If you love to shell, then this is the place for you as not much shelling opportunity on the beach out front of the property. The property was definitely as described and if you are taking dogs, be aware that there is a spiral staircase in the living room that leads to the master bedroom but you can also access the master bedroom from stairs up to the balcony. My Fiance wanted to rent the kayaks for the week and due to Nancy and Steve's nephew visiting on the weekend, Nancy gave us an amazing deal on them for the rest of the week! Thank you for that, it was much appreciated. Definitely NO sand spiders! I took both my dogs and they had the best time. I did want to write a lot more but I ran out of room! Thanks so much Steve and Nancy. We had an amazing time!
If you are looking for a truly secluded, private beach house then this is the place you are looking for! This home is well appointed and has everything you will need to make your stay enjoyable. The bedroom upstairs is large and airy with a balcony to enjoy your morning coffee. Love the steps outside that go to the balcony which made it easy for our dog that is going blind to get upstairs at night. We literally saw less than 10 people on the beach the entire week. The walkway to the beach platform is safe and convenient as well as the little bridge that takes you to the gorgeous beach with miles of white sand. You can pick up equipment at Crums In Panecea to go crabbing in the little lagoon, which is hours of relaxing fun. If you are interested in fishing, Crums can set you up for that as well including a chart of the high and low tide times. We enjoyed walking the flats at low tide and gathering shells as well as fishing from the beach at high tide. My husband caught a Hammerhead right off the beach as well as a Red Drum. We didn't eat out but Steve can provide information on local, nearby restaurants as well as the other touristy things to do in the area. We have taken a few vacations to beaches and this was by far the most relaxing place we have ever found. We will definitely return and recommend this little slice of Heaven to anyone we meet looking for a quiet, relaxing place to unwind and regroup! Thanks Steve and Nancy!
