This home is the perfect spot for your getaway! With 3 levels and an open floor plan, there is plenty of space to be together, and plenty of space to have a little quiet time away from the rest.
The location is close enough to Grand Lake (a few minutes away) to enjoy it's mountain charm, and just a short walk from Shadow Mountain Lake, and yet far enough away to be a quiet refuge.
This mountain home (and everything in it) is top quality, immaculately clean, and comfortable! All the furnishings were purchased with luxury and comfort in mind.
The 2-story great room is the center of the home and a perfect gathering space, featuring hardwood floors, a wonderful gourmet kitchen and island breakfast bar with slab granite counter tops, eating area, gas fireplace, big flat screen TV, sound bar, and Sonos Hi-Fi music wireless speaker system. This room spills out onto a huge private deck living area that is partially covered with a gas firepit to gather around, a built-in outdoor kitchen with gas grill, side burner and drop-in cooler, and ample seating to take in the scenery and the great outdoors.
The master bedroom is on this main floor, featuring a king-size bed, a flat screen TV, it's own cozy sitting area/retreat, 5-piece bathroom, and walk-in closet.
Upstairs is a wonderful loft area, complete with a flat screen TV, and a large private bedroom with a king-size bed and a day bed with a trundle/pull out (2 twins together), walk-in closet, and it's own full bathroom. The sofa in this loft area pulls out for additional sleeping. We love the 'suite' feel of the loft.
Downstairs is a quiet walk-out level with 2 queen bedrooms and another full bathroom. These bedrooms are just off a third living area and game table area with a big flat screen TV, DVD/VHS player, and a game system, 2 comfortable sofas, one of which pulls out for additional sleeping. This area is perfect for kids of all ages to get away from the rest of the gang and play to their heart's content.
Just outside the atrium doors from the walk-out family room is a quiet area with 2 porch swings. Watch the kids. Enjoy the view. Breathe the wonderful mountain air. Walk up the hill behind the house and take in the fabulous lake view.
All of the bed linens and towels are luxurious and top quality. We have tried to outfit the kitchen with the best of everything - and everything we could think of.
The home feels secluded but is just minutes from everything you'd want to do. It is complete with WiFi internet, Comcast cable, high-efficiency washer and dryer, an on-demand hot water system that enables you to run all the showers, dishwasher, and washer without ever running out of hot water, beautiful decorations, beautiful views, and is ready for you and your family to enjoy time after time.

We are both Colorado natives, born and raised. We have spent as much time as we could vacationing in the mountains and had always dreamed of having a little slice of heaven in Grand Lake to build family memories. Now we are pleased to be able to share it with you. We hope you and your family will enjoy our mountain home and will create your own wonderful memories.
John and Becky purchased this house in 2009
Located at the headwaters of the Colorado River and situated on the shores of Grand Lake, Colorado's largest natural body of water, the Town of Grand Lake is the western gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. Home of the world's highest registered yacht club, the nation's highest altitude golf course with grass greens, and Colorado's premiere summer musical company, Grand Lake offers a unique getaway for all. Also adjacent to Arapaho National Recreation Area, Grand Lake has been dubbed the 'Snowmobile Capital of Colorado' due to its access from Town to Colorado's largest network of groomed snowmobile trails. Grand Lake is a year-round vacationer's paradise for over one-hundred years.
This beautiful home is less than 2 hours from Denver and is easy to get to. Our home is not far (just 5 minutes) from Grand Lake at the foot of Rocky Mountain National Park and all the area attractions but feels like it's in a secluded, private area. It's just a short walk to Shadow Mountain Lake, the Colorado River, walking trails, the public boat launch, and canal between Shadow Mountain Lake and Granby Reservoir. The area offers fishing, boating, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking with plenty of wildlife to enjoy.
Our home is uniquely situated near Grand Lake and all the attractions, but feels like it's private and remote. The Shores area is a planned community with paved roads and easy access, and our home is on a very quiet cul-de-sac with virtually no traffic. Our home itself is luxurious, accommodating, and comfortable with fine furnishings and everything you might need.
A trio of bulls across the street - eating willow branches and then resting!
Wonderful house and a delightful week in Grand Lake. 100 degrees at home made it even better. Good time had by all!
This place feels just like home from the moment you walk through the front door. Anything and everything that you would have in your own home is there and waiting. It is beautifully decorated, yet very, very cozy feeling for such a large home. The gas fireplace in the family room was very welcoming and perfect for taking the chill out of the early morning air. The fire pit on the deck made the evenings a pure joy. The kitchen was first class all the way with every gadget you can think of available. We only utilized the master bedroom and it was fabulous, a very comfortable bed that made it hard to get up in the mornings. The home is quite capable of handling large family reunions, but it was the perfect romantic getaway for two.
Do not miss the opportunity to see a sunrise from the top of the hill out back. The view over the lake and surrounding skyline is breath taking. There are some great hiking trails within walking distance of the home that were absolutely beautiful. We had the perfect fall vacation, temperatures in the 30s at night/ 60s in the day, a dusting of snow on the mountains, and the Aspens, Cottonwoods, and Willows were in their peak autumn colors.
John and Becky were such a pleasure to work with and really made us feel very welcome in their home. We look forward to returning for another great vacation. 5 Stars all the way!
Had a wonderful week at the Shadow Mountain Lake house. Spent several days fishing and boating on the different lakes in the area. The house was comfortable and every amenity was as described. The views from the top of the hill behind the house was beautiful. We spent time together in Grand Lake and went to a Blues festival in Winter Park. We watched the stars from the deck and were visited by a moose one evening as well. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in the Grand Lake area.
This house was absolutely stunning. Perfect from the moment we arrived and exactly as described. They had every utensil/cooking item you could possibly need, and there was plenty of room to accommodate the 9 of us. My kids loved the giant hill of a backyard, and we enjoyed the daily visits from the hummingbirds and deer. Plenty of activities like Adam's Falls, Estes Park, horseback riding or boating nearby kept us plenty busy when we weren't soaking it all in at the house. The overhang perfectly blocked the rain as we spent most of our time loving the gas fire pit. The neighborhood is quiet, and we even got to see the milky way while we enjoyed the stars. Would highly recommend for anyone seeking a Colorado vacation. Perfect from start to finish.
We had a wonderful time in the mountains for a family Thanksgiving get-a-way. This was a beautiful place to gather, with plenty of space to spread out, yet be all together with the open floor plan. The kitchen was well equipped and gorgeous. The beds were comfortable with the most luxurious sheets I've ever had the pleasure to sleep between. We climbed the mountain in the backyard daily to check out the view of the lake... adults and children enjoyed the climb as well as sledding. We will return again... during warmer months when we are able to enjoy the outdoor grill and fire pit a little more.
My family stayed in this house for thanksgiving; We were all very happy with everything this home had to offer. The homeowners were very organized with instructions on where everything was & how to operate things. Great kitchen for cooking our big thanksgiving meals; well equipped with all the baking & cooking utensils you could need. The main living space was open with plenty of seating so everyone could interact, whether one person was cooking or one was watching TV. There was also a nice family room in the basement, with games & puzzles, or a loft sitting area upstairs for kids to play. There were plenty of bathrooms for everyone to shower or get ready in the mornings. The location made you feel like you were nestled away on a retreat & the view at the top of the hill in the back yard is gorgeous.
All in all, this home was beautiful with plenty of space for people to spread out & great for entertaining. Great kitchen for cooking, TV for football, table space for games & puzzles (& eating), & a sound system to unwind & enjoy music & drinks at night.
We fell in love with this property. It was perfect for our family reunion. Very nicely furnished, spacious and equipped with everything we needed. We had children so the back property hillside allowed us to sit on the deck and watch them climb and play. The covered deck and outdoor kitchen were a big bonus. The home is a short drive into Grand Lake and the entrance to RMNP which was great for us. We had the additional bonus of seeing two bull moose up close and personal in the mornings on the property which was very special. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a large vacation home.
The house is 5 minutes from the town of Grand Lake, which is at the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park and is the Snowmobiling Capital of Colorado! Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Lake, and Lake Granby offer tons of fun during any season.
