Since my son and his family couldn't come home for Thanksgiving I rented the cabin near his home for me and his 2 sisters to go there. My sons family came over every day when the twins were not napping. We took a couple of folding tables and chairs and had plenty of space to feed 10 adults and 8 children for Thanksgiving. We did put a baby gate up at the top of the stairs for the safety of the babies. There was plenty of room for the kids to play inside and out and they especially loved going down to the dock. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would love to go back again. Actually everyone hated to leave. Unfortunately due to a knee injury I personally.did not go down to the dock but everyone else did and enjoyed it.

Clean, Comfortable, Convenient -- Perfect for our Needs

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were looking for a nice, clean place to stay for a week, while visiting aging parents in Wilkesboro. Having a place to prepare healthy meals and unwind, with plenty of room to spread out means a lot to us and in the end, was probably more economical than a week of eating out and staying at the Hampton Inn. But, that's what VRBO is all about, right? 😃

As other reviewers have said, this property is amazingly CLEAN. That, along with the incredibly beautiful all wood interior, and the lovely views from the immaculately clean floor to ceiling windows made our stay very pleasant. Several times a day, we'd go check out the Butterfly Bushes in the backyard to see who was visiting! Ceiling fans and gas fireplace supplement the excellent HVAC.

We found it to have easy access into town, an excellent grocery store (register for MVP card at, if you are not already a member) and more amenities than you'd expect from a town this size.

Our first lake vacation, but not the last!

  • 5 of 5

This is an incredible place, full of light,, spacious, with room for our entire family (me, my husband, our college aged children, a married daughter and her two babies who visited for a couple of days each). The deck views are terrific, and the lake was fun for all. We rented a canoe and a paddleboard and the swimming was great. Meals were prepared in the large, well equipped kitchen and enjoyed at the family style table. We ventured into Boone and Blowing Rock, and made it up to the Ashe Co. Cheese Factory. We were only there a couple of days when my husband declared this our "best rental ever, hands down." We'll be back! Thanks, Richie

Traditional Destination

Let me first say that this is my second review, and justly-so considering the importance of peer reviews in our world today. Once again, this amazing log home on the lake failed to disappoint. We decided to go a little early this year, and April surprised us with low 80's temps and amazing sunshine. We didn't partake in lake activities this time instead choosing to venture out on longer road trips. And the home, mountains and sites brought fantastic enjoyment and lasting memories as usual.

Speaking of peer reviews, we used sites like Google and Yelp to gauge activities and dining without any guesswork. Blowing Rock has stellar cuisine at an affordable price, where as Ashville has stellar cuisine at stellar prices! Zip lining, vineyard tours, waterfall hiking, scenic drives on the Blue Ridge and Tail of the Dragon, and breath-taking views and experiences around every bend has us wanting to schedule another trip this same year!

The relaxation and tranquility from comfort, floor plan, fireplace, lake side views and amenities can't be conveyed fully in this review. I woke up early every morning (as if for work), but to see the sunrise on the lake - through the the Master bdrm. patio doors - from my bed - and I was 100% glad to be awake at 6 am on my vacation! All jokes aside, I will be trying to book another week this year...
