Description

Milagrosa Hills House Rental Photos and Description

6 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 7 Baths (Sleeps 10-12+)

This is a private home on 3 gated acres bordering Coronado National Forest Wilderness Area. This 5,000 square foot contemporary Santa Fe style home is beautifully situated on the highest and most scenic improved parcel in the northeast Catalina Foothills at the base of Mount Lemmon. 4 bedrooms, 7 baths, gourmet kitchen, detached game room, and multiple porches and decks with the best views of the Tucson valley-period.

This home is nestled into a saguaro studded hillside at on elevation of 3,300’ (Downtown Tucson is about 2,350’). It is the highest estate in the northeast foothills of Tucson and the view must be seen to be believed. During the day, you can see the mountains on the Mexican border (68 miles away) and at night, the sea of lights of metro Tucson are below you. Behind the home is designated wilderness area filled with wildlife and improved hiking trails off of the Catalina Highway to Mount Lemmon. The daytime temperatures in the summer are about 4 degrees less than downtown because of our elevation and the nighttime temperatures in the winter run at least 5 degrees warmer because we are off of the valley floor and sitting on solid granite.

Mt. Lemmon is a rare jewel in the Arizona desert. Jutting up 9,000 feet above sea level in the Santa Catalina Mountains north of our house, this magnificent mountain peak stands amidst the pale backdrop of the sparse desert sand and cactus. From our driveway, you begin the journey into a geological time warp moving through a saguaro forest for the first 10 minutes, then into many oak and pinion pine covered mountains with spectacular rock formations. Within 35 minutes, you can be fishing for trout at Rose Canyon Lake in the ponderosa pines. If you continue on, you quickly arrive at the small village of Summerhaven and the Ski Valley lift at over 8,000’ elevation. Many trails can be found in both the lower and upper elevations for winter or summer hiking.

Even though you sense extreme privacy on the property, you are only minutes away from many activities:

Golf at Arizona National (formerly the Raven) in 10 minutes, 49ers Country Club in 10 minutes, Ventana Canyon in 25 minutes, and many more great golf courses within an hour.

Grocery shopping, restaurants, drug stores, and virtually everything you might need to purchase on a day to day basis are within 8 minutes. Park Mall is about 20-25 minutes away.

Drive time to the University of Arizona is about 35 minutes and to downtown Tucson, about 5 minutes further.

About Jack or Bonnie Simmons

We're at the end of Quesada Pl behind a private gate that protects 7 other 3 acre parcels with 3 other large custom homes.

Jack or Bonnie Simmons purchased this house in 2002

Why Jack or Bonnie Simmons chose Tucson

This is a true Sonoran desert setting in one of the most pristine saguaro forests in the world.

I've been a custom home builder in southern Arizona for nearly 20 years and spent 3 years building this home for our own family, finishing in 2002. We absolutely loved living on this great property until the kids went off to college and we became free to travel more. You'll love it! A link to an online video walk through of the property is available upon request.

What makes this house unique

This property has proven to be ideal for golfers, bicyclists, hikers and runners, housing for out of town wedding guests and family, special occasions, gourmet cooks, Canadians and everyone else who lives where it is too darn cold or wants to experience a warm Sonoran Desert experience with the best views in the Tucson Valley! A link to an online video walk through of the property is available upon request.

If and when there are more than 20 guests on the property, there may be an added 'extra guests' impact fee. Please inquire. This is not a wedding venue! The Pima County Development Services Center/Zoning Enforcement Division has advised me that weddings and other events cannot be specifically scheduled on the property by the owners due to zoning restrictions.

This property was a trip to wonderland. Everything needed was available from washcloths to entertainment accommodations. The house is large and simply beautiful from one side to the other. The view is breathtaking, especially at night. The owner was extremely helpful to answer questions, and give a full tour of the home. Yes this luxury home is the absolute best I have ever experience so far. And I have experienced several homes prior to this one, and none has come close. Not just the house alone, but the hospitality given by the owner. I can't wait to visit this home again.

great for golf trip

  • 5 of 5

We are a crew of 9 guys golfing for 4 days, who, for the first time, tried a house instead of hotel. We picked a winner here. The house is spectacular. We enjoyed the huge space, allowing small groups to sit down before and after dinner, along with the beautiful view. We just loved the place. It is centrally located, and the land lord Jack couldn't be nicer. This place is awesome.

Wonderful stay!!!

  • 5 of 5

The home was beautifully maintained and the pictures do NOT do it justice. We had a family gathering of 12 from different areas of the country and then added in town relatives for a cook-out with lots of room to spare. Jack, the owner, was extremely helpful from our first contact,on through the check-out. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful, clean home with amazing views and a feeling of luxury!!!

Breathtakingly Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We booked this venue as a stay-cation with friends and family. The view is awesome. The guys went up to the guest house which is transformed into a game room and spent the whole time there. The girls hung out in the huge master bedroom/bath and in the enormous living room/kitchen. We spent most of our time outside on the huge front porch area overlooking all of Tucson. My only suggestion would be to only bring older kids and not little ones to the house because it is on a hill. Our son is 8 and he loved the game room.

The pictures of this house do not do it justice. Jack was so nice throughout the entire experience. He really opened up his home to us with such generosity. We are definitely going to book another stay-cation in the near future!!!!!!

Spectacular Wedding Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We originally booked Jack's house as a place for family to stay the weekend of our wedding. After reading all the reviews and seeing the house we decided to hold the wedding there. The setting is gorgeous; nestled into the Saguaro National Forest with an amazing view of Tucson. Jack has all of the tables, chairs, linens and china available on site. The pictures online do not do justice to the house--it is really nicer than the pictures and Jack is extremely helpful. I highly recommend renting the house for a weekend or an event. A true jewel in Tucson.

Beautiful Memories to Last A Lifetime

  • 5 of 5

A mother's dream is to have her daughter's wedding in an unforgettable setting surrounded by loving family and friends. Thanks to Jack our dreams came true. Not to mention the fact that this beautiful home was amazingly available on these dates for a wedding on 12/13/14 :-) The home is beautiful, the view is stunning, the surroundings are quiet and peaceful, but most importantly, the availability of tables, chairs and linens made our stay so memorable. Jack was so accommodating and it was so hard to leave our temporary home away from home. Although it was a rainy day, my daughter's sunset wedding was beautiful. We will return and strongly recommend this beautiful home.

Golf: There are too many great golf courses within 60 minutes of this property to mention. Arizona National and the Forty Niners country club are the two closest at about 10 minutes drive time door to door!

Ski: Mount Lemmon Ski Valley is the southernmost snow skiing facility in the country. It is only 27 miles from the property! You can go from 2,800 to 9,100 feet in elevation in about 40 minutes. The lift is usually operating between mid December and the end of March-depending on snowfall and conditions, of course.
