My husband and I spent our childhoods in Stowe, and after leaving for school(s) and subsequent travel, we each decided to return, where we 're-met,' married, and have happily raised our children.
LeeLee Goodson purchased this cabin in 1984
This was where we raised our two young children and only left because we purchased a nearby farm to begin our veterinary practice; but we couldn't bear to sell the cabin -- which is why we now rent it.
The cottage is just as perfect as the pictures. Cozy and warm with all the essentials. We spent our babies first Christmas in a winter wonderland and felt like it was our home for the week. Easy access to town and skiing on the mountain. Our dog loved the private property to roam. We will definately be back.
We absolutely loved our stay at Thornapple Cottage in Stowe! Warm and inviting log cabin with gas fireplace that we used every day of our stay! Worked well for a family of 4 with 2 teenage boys and one polite dog. Everyone loved the hot tub, especially after a day of skiiing! Great fun exploring the grounds and tromping through the woods. Highly recommend staying here!
My family of 4 loved our two-week mid-winter stay in this gorgeous cabin. It was lovely and warm, even during the -15 degree cold snap. The hot tub was wonderful and the cabin was well appointed with all necessary items for a self-sufficient stay. It is very private and the grounds are fun to explore - with forests and a creek! The cute town of Stowe is only a 5 minute drive and Stowe ski resort is just 20 minutes away. Our only criticism is that the main bed is a bit old and soft - but it didn't significantly detract from our enjoyment of the place.
I write this review standing at the window of this sublime little cottage as big fat snow flakes drift lazily down on the first snow of the season. Fitting because this cottage is magical. It is cozy, rustic, and precisely what one might imagine a log cabin should be and then some!
And, that is why we continue to come back, TWICE a year :)
Whether you prefer to relax by the fire with your favorite book.....or watch a scary movie while carving a pumpkin on Halloween....or soak in a hot tub at night and tell your favorite spooky stories ( yes even in the RAIN !!! )......YEAR after YEAR , rain or shine.......this little cabin loves you with it's charm, comfort and warmth. It certainly soothes and calms our tired souls. There is plenty to do if you decide to venture out in the lovely town of Stowe, but with all that comfort this cabin has to offer, a day in your pj's may be just what the dr. ordered!
Life is Better At the Cabin!
Already planning our next return! :)
A wonderful, peaceful retreat. We enjoyed our few days, only wish we could have stayed longer. LeeLee was very helpful and in regular contact making sure we had everything we could possibly need.
Definitely a cottage that we would love to visit again, I imagine it's perfect during every season.
