About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

Enjoy the quiet elegance of this creekside home nestled among trees, woods, and stream in the hamlet of Christopher Creek. This special retreat is in the mountains 20 miles east of Payson, directly below the stunning Mogollon Rim vista. Less than a mile from the highway, the home is easy to access in all seasons, yet still perfect for those who enjoy quiet, wildlife, and beauty all around them. The hiking and fishing are outstanding in this forested area abounding with lakes, streams, and magnificent mountain views. Or you can enjoy the amenities of nearby Payson, with its antiques, museums, restaurants and shopping.

The home’s large back deck is directly next to the stream, making it a delightful area for eating, relaxing, and wildlife viewing, with many squirrels and birds lending their chatter to the burbling creek sounds. The rim has many hiking trails, and is a great area for cross country skiing. Or simply stay warm at this refreshing retreat and restore your spirit among the trees and sparkling water.

Inside the home awaits another kind of beauty: understated refinement rare to find in a mountain hideaway. The 1900 SF home has two master bedroom suites with private dressing areas and bathrooms, each with patio doors adjoining the 80 foot deck. There is a third central bathroom with shower for guests, next to the laundry and pantry. Cozy, private enough for two, yet able to sleep five, the home is large enough to entertain even more if desired.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great house, squirrels, birds and deck! We even caught one rainbow trout in Christopher Creek! (Released it back to wild.) Woods Canyon Lake was a great suggestion. Had great time. We will be in touch to rent again in near future! Thank you!!!

Very Nice and quiet retreat

  • 5 of 5

Loved the clean air surrounded by nature as well as the beautiful home. Anita was very pleasant and made our experience one to remember. She also left home made brownies for us when we arrived as well as a very clean home. We loved it

A great retreat on the creek!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this get-a-way on Christopher Creek! The home is very spacious, quiet, and clean. Kitchen is well stocked, although we ate out the time we stayed at the local restaurants. The huge deck was wonderful to relax on and listen to the gentle sounds of the creek. The mature trees offered much needed shade all day. The owner greeted us, made us feel right at home, and her brownies were a nice touch, as well! Would like very much to return!

Relaxing Stay by the Creek

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Anita's place 5 days over the Labor Day weekend. The house is an older place among an established little community along the creek bank. It was a quiet stay and very relaxing. Saturday night had a lot of parties going on at some of the other houses including across the street from us, but once on the back porch you were in your own quiet space and heard nothing from the other house except for the occasional ATV that drove by. The parties made getting around the neighborhood a little challenging but nothing too difficult.

The house it self had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Lots of glass doors leading to the back porch which really is the focus point of the house. We sat for hours watching the squirrels, blue jays and hummingbirds frolic around causing acorns to drop all around us. The sound of the creek was relaxing and soothing inviting you to settle down with your coffee or drink and enjoy the setting.

I would definitely recommend this place to unwind and settle down. Anita was more than helpful and the brownies she provided were just what we needed to get the vacation started. Thanks a lot for them!

This place is a great launching point for touring the Rim Country. We took the drive up to the rim and across via SR260 and Forest Road 300 making a big loop back through Payson and back to the house. A three hour ride with fantastic views with a great lunch in Strawberry. There is a small general store close to the house and more shopping opportunities about 20 minutes away in Payson.

I would highly recommend staying here. We would happily stay again.

Nice quiet location overlooking the creek.

  • 5 of 5

Good accommodations for a family or two couples, with its two master suites plus third bedroom. Open area of living room, kitchen and dining with wonderful huge deck above Creek was wonderful. Near lots of recreational activities but a ways from Payson (about 22 miles) so you should plan to bring food and drinks. Owner does have most everything else, even seasoningso. We loved being in a house and not a hotel too. Plus we could bring our cat who loved watching the birds and squirrels thru the sliding glass doors.

Owner's Response: Just for clarification: this guest meant third bathroom, not third bedroom. This is a 2bdrm 3 bath house. Thanks for choosing our streamside home. We look forward to having you back!
