Family owned, gorgeous oceanfront home!
Paul purchased this house in 2000
We were fortunate enough to stay at Sails one for 2 weeks this summer. The house was very well appointed and roomy and the views were incredible. We thoroughly enjoyed the 200 ft of additional beachfront from the recent beach enhancement project. The owners were very friendly and responsive and provided lots of tips for places to see. The house is close to lots of shops, restaurants and activities for the kids. We hope to come back next year!
The house was so perfect for a big group, the views of the ocean and beach from the top story are amazing. We enjoyed the pool and outside tiki bar so much to gather around at night. The owners of this house were such a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend this house to everyone i know! We will definitely return to this house!
This amazing beach house comfortably accommodated the 19 people in our group even with beds to spare. Plenty of bathrooms and showers as well so there are never people waiting in line. The outdoor shower and bathroom were great for when you were wet and/or sandy. The kitchen and living areas were very spacious and the two large dining tables provided plenty of seating for large group dinners or games. Everything was clean, tidy, and well stocked. The pool and hot tub were great and were checked and cleaned on several occasions by the pool company.
Location, location, location! This is the first time we rented an oceanfront home. Now we're spoiled! Being able to walk directly out onto the beach, view the ocean or sunrise from one of the many decks, or to just simply look out and check up on where the people in your group were was a huge plus. Being off the main drag, but close to Jeanette's pier, the recreational path out front, and plenty of shopping and food were good perks. Many people in our group walked to breakfast, dinner, and especially for ice cream with the kids.
And finally despite other posts, there was no evidence or issue with mice and the decks were very sound and sturdy. Unfortunately, I cannot confirm how many tv's there were only because we came to the beach to ENJOY THE BEACH!
I would definitely stay here again and recommend this house to anyone. Cheers to a great week with great family and friends at a great vacation home!
We were at Sails I the week of June 22, 2013. We have rented vacation houses for numerous years and I have to say this was the best house ever. We had a group of 20 individuals from age 3 to age 64 and everyone had a great time. The house was very large and accommodated the entire group with no problems. The furnishings within the house were nice for a rental house, the kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of dishes, pots and pans to include large stock pots and turkey roaster, large bowls and large pitchers, two coffee pots (hooray for that), toaster, blender, ice maker in the refrigerator, and a stand alone ice maker in the family room. The house is right on the beach and the views are great. Even the disabled members of our group were able to walk onto the beach. I saw some past reviews about the hotels by the house. However, I have to say that the motel and hotel did not block our views of the beach. The motel is a one floor building next to the house and the hotel is three houses away and also did not block our views or fun. The beach was never crowded - it was like having our own personal beach. The house is very close to Jeannette's pier. Walking distance is about four minutes. They have lots of night time activities on the beach for children regarding the eco system. Our grandchildren really enjoyed that. Some of the individuals in our group even saw turtles on the beach during their evening strolls.
My daughter and I are clean freaks, and were concerned regarding some of the reviews that stated the house was not very clean. I can honestly say that the house was very clean, the linens on the beds were very nice and there were plenty of towels and wash clothes in the house.
The house is so close to everything, but not in the main traffic areas. This was perfect - easy to get to everything, close to everything, but secluded from the traffic areas.
It was nice having a private pool and a sandbox in the back of the house, which faces the ocean. The pool was used extensively by the kids and grown ups alike. And the sand box was a hit with the little ones.
The owner was quick about responding to a couple of small issues we had. They were minor issues, but the response was quick.
We would definitely like to stay at this house again the next time we go to Nags Head.
My family & I want to thank you for such a wonderful place to relax, have fun and spend time with our family before & after my daughter's wedding. Sixteen of Us happily stayed together & had plenty of room & relaxing amenities to take advantage of. The location was perfect for the wedding at the nearby hotel facility & the wedding was absolutely beautiful on the beach, the weather was perfect everyday, except for a few rain drops just before the ceremony.... that just kept the sand from blowing :) Yall's house is amazing, spacious, views are awesome and again we thank you & love everything about the home.
We go to Nags Head usually twice a year and we have been for many years. This trip has topped them all.
Thank you for making my daughter & new son in law's wedding even more special & amazing.
It has been a pleasure keeping in touch with you. We hope to return to Sails I in the future.
Thanks Again :)
Just returned from our 11th annual volleyball on the beach trip. We had 19 people including 2 small children, and the house had plenty of space for all of us. This was our first time staying at Sails One, and the owners were very kind and accommodating. They allowed us to stay a partial week (rare on the Outer Banks).
The house was clean, well maintained and cozy, but spacious. We've stayed at a few other large homes in south Nags Head, and this one was the nicest. There were plenty of linens and towels provided. There was enough parking for 8 cars and a boat trailer. One nice feature about the house was that it not only had an outdoor shower, but it also had an outdoor bathroom, so that you didn't have to trudge inside with sandy feet just to use the restroom.
The location is fantastic. It's very close to Jeannette's pier, which has been rebuilt and is a cool place to visit. You can walk to 7-11 and Sam & Omie's. And you are just one minute away from the bypass by car. We were dubious about the two adjacent hotels, but it turned out to be a non-issue. The Dolphin Motel is single story, so you actually look down on its roof from the upper decks. The Comfort Inn is situated at an angle, so that when we were playing volleyball on the beach in front of the house, none of the hotel windows were looking directly at us or the ocean. In fact, it provides a nice wind barrier on days with a southwest wind.
All in all, we were extremely happy with the house, and we hope to stay there again next year.
We had 4 families in this house at one time, 23 people (several were children), and there was plenty of space to spread out. The view from the top-level deck was awesome! The "early birds" really enjoyed watching the sunrise. Great location - felt very private, but yet within walking distance to stores. The Tanger Outlets are very close by; also great dining and entertainment. The property manager came by on Wednesday and cleaned the sand out of the pool and jacuzzi - that was great! And they were very attentive to any needs we had. It was a perfect week that our family would love to do again sometime!!
