Ala Aina Ocean Vista is a private, unique, 100% solar-powered B&B suite that is located on a former banana plantation. Nestled in an exotic lush tropical setting, our accommodation promises peace and quiet and offers guests sweeping ocean vistas. Enjoy lying in bed watching the ocean in your king-sized bed surrounded by windows overlooking tropical trees, Hawaiian flowers and rolling green lawns.
Our B&B suite offers a fully-equipped efficiency kitchen on the large private deck. You can cook 'under the stars'! There is an inside private bathroom with marble floors and tiled shower (roomy enough for two), as well as an outside bath and shower with lotus pond in your own little garden. Classic board games, ipod docking speakers, DVD and Direct TV for those that want television.
We are just 2 miles from, 7 Sacred Pools, aka The Pools at Ohe'o or also called 'Ohe'o Gulch'. Additionally we are 10 miles to the town of Hana, where the famous Hasegawa's General Store and the Hotel Hana Maui are located.
We are only 30-40 minutes to Maui's black and red sand beaches. Waioka pond, known as 'Venus pools', are a short 20 minutes away and Alele Waterfall is just 2 minutes away.
The best part is we offer each and every guest a romantic and quiet accommodation experience.
Originally from Michigan, I have been blessed to be a Hana, Maui resident since 1982. I run our B&B with my daughter. Together we have created this special place for our guests to enjoy and we keep busy making sure our 4-acre parcel is beautiful and manicured.
We were fortunate to have found this lush and peaceful spot on the Island of Maui. After my husband passed, my daughter and I needed a way to make a living, so we took advantage of having a space to renovate into a Bed and Breakfast, as this allowed Mercury (my daughter) and myself to stay at home, run a business and have a connection with wonderful folks from all over the world. This has worked out better than we could even imagined!
Samadhi Butterfly purchased this cottage in 1989
We are 100% green (completely solar powered) and offer our guests the chance to enjoy the lifestyle and and views that one would expect of a tropical paradise. Although we are always happy to answer questions and can offer plenty of advice on any Hana activities or sightseeing spots, we ultimately respect the privacy of our guests and believe in making sure you have a peaceful and romantic stay while you are here. We are around when you need us… and respectful when you want to be alone.
We have the luxury of privacy, peace and quiet in our setting. Mercury and I enjoy staying on our blessed piece of paradise and working in nature to make things beautiful. We enjoy donating to the homeless with our abundant fruit from our trees. We get most of our social connections with the wonderful folks that visit our B&B. We enjoy being totally 'green' and helping provide true eco-friendly accommodations but with the creature-comforts one would expect of a wonderful place to vacation.
The Mother-Daughter team do a great job at hospitality in their
"Piece of Paradise". We enjoyed two of our dinners on the lanai
watching the sunset. One dinner we ate off of the bamboo tray on our
bed because of the rainfall. As the evenings progressed, we would sit
at the table and read, eat tropical fruit from the property then
crawl into the king size bed and watch the geckos crawl up the
outside of the windows. The croaking frogs and light rainfall lulled
us to sleep several nights.
We enjoyed coconut milk, mangoes and bananas from the beautifully
manicured grounds (a former banana plantation).
Once we were greeted and shown around, we were given complete
privacy, unless we sought them out with a question. I bought a nice
costume jewelry necklace from Mercury's collection of handmade
jewelry. We appreciated all of the plumerias and other exotic flowers
used to decorate our room.
We would recommend Ala Aina Ocean Vista, especially for honeymooners;
lots of privacy and beautiful scenery. The only sounds we heard were
the mooing of nearby cows occasionally, birds trilling, the wind in
the mango trees and the frogs at night. Ahhhhh, lovely!
This is the exact opposite of Kaanapali's hustle and bustle. it's
remote, quiet & relaxing. If you want to rejuvenate and enjoy nature,
this is the place to stay!
Very unique place. Great place to unwind and get away from it all. You will be greated with fresh fruit and amazing views. The outdoor kitchen reminded me of a Thai outdoor kitchen. Remember to clean up and clean again as you are in the jungle and ants are in no short supply. My husband got a bit antsy at doing nothing. But I thoroughly enjoyed reading in the lounge chair with nothing to do and nowhere to go. If u are accustomed to resort life this may not be the place for you. If you re looking for a unique one of a kind place. This is for you.
A unique property with warm hosts that welcome you and then leave you to your business and privacy. They provide eggs, juice and bagels, coffee and tea for you to make your own breakfast at your outdoor kitchen. Incredible views of the volcano and ocean from the deck.
The home is right off hana hwy and convenient to get to many places that your may not have time to get to if you don't stay in the Hana area.
We would stay again if ever fortunate enough to be back in the area.
My husband and I spent 4 nights in Kihei/Wailea then another 4 nights at this enchanting bed & breakfast in Kipahulu. We wanted the second half of our vacation away from the commercialism of West Maui and that is exactly what we got here at Ala'Aina Ocean Vista. Mere words cannot express the beauty and peace of this little slice of heaven. We were met by Sam who gave us a very detailed tour of the space and the area nearby. The property itself is just gorgeous with tropical plantings everywhere and fantastic ocean views from the deck and the bed. Mercury's decorative touch, inside and out, really spoke to my heart. Such a peaceful place filled with beautiful Balinese statues and other artful pieces. The private waterfall Sam recommended, walking distance away, was such an enjoyable experience our first day! Every day was an adventure...black sand, red sand, white sand beaches, the bamboo forest, Seven Pools, and Hana Town. There were plenty of eggs, butter, bagels and fresh fruit for our breakfasts and the outdoor kitchen was sublime. Absolutely loved sipping cocktails, prepping our food and eating outdoors under cover while the fairy rain drizzled all around us. I recommend stocking up on food and drink before heading out as there are not many dining choices in the area. There are several good food trucks but only 2 restaurants which are poor to mediocre in ambiance and value. It was hard to leave this magical and enchanting place and we hope to come back someday. This was an experience we will never forget! Mahalo and blessings Sam & Mercury :)
My wife and I enjoyed 3 exceptional days at this B&B. It is beautiful, exotic and peaceful. Mahalo
This experience is not for everyone. If you need cabanas, clubbing and expensive resort restaurants, this isn't for you. If you want peace and serenity in a unique place, its exceptional.
The owners are very respectful of the land and the environment. We enjoyed cooking on the open air deck. We had bought unbelievably fresh fish earlier in the day and finished the sauce with the tangerines from the trees on the property.
On our trip to Maui, we stayed up country on a coffee plantation, a condo in Wailea for the beaches, and this B&B. It covered the range of experiences on the island. This was a great way to complete our week.
My wife and I had 3 exceptional days at the Hana B&B. This was the opposite of the usual vacation experience in that it was so quiet and so peaceful. Just a few minutes after getting in, we began to speak in whispers, and pretty much spoke that way the entire time we spent there. An EXCELLENT location from which to explore Hana and the environs, we spent most of each day doing just that, but felt that we were STILL exploring even when we returned here at the end of the day. Sam and Merc were friendly and helpful, and the place and the property were beautiful and comfortable. We used herbs from the garden, and ate fresh bananas (lots of banana trees) whenever we wanted. We even got to feed bananas to the horses next door when they would visit our fence-line. Gorgeous ocean vistas, including the Big Island and the sunset, plus THE BEST SHOWER EVER were just extras to what was a perfect place for our Maui stay. Can't recommend this highly enough!
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights during our Honeymoon. It was the first time either of us had ever been to Hawaii and we planned a lot of places to stay. This was, by far, our favorite. Located away from it all on the South Shore of Maui this Bed and Breakfast is the perfect place to stay after driving the Road to Hana. It is just a few miles from the Seven Sacred Pools and Haleakala National Park. The room is very clean and features a gorgeous bathroom with a giant shower. There are plenty of extra blankets, towels, books, guides, beach equipment, and bottles of water. There is a deck off of the room with chairs and a small kitchen. It was lovely being able to cook and eat under so many bright stars.
Sam and her daughter Mercury are both very kind, hospitable, and offer excellent advice on things to do and routes to take driving. Mercury sells jewelry, so be sure to bring some cash with you. I purchased a gorgeous necklace for my mother in law from her.
All in all this was definitely our favorite place we stayed during our 2 weeks in Hawaii. We look forward to returning one day.
Ala Aina Ocean Vista is located in the pristine Hana side of Maui on a private estate. Surrounded with lush gardens of tropical flowers, and seasonal fruit trees of; banana, mango, avocado, starfruit, Surinam cherries, oranges, tangerines and lemons (to list a few).
The property also boasts ocean vistas and nearby to Maui's famous Wainapanapa Black Sand Beach, Red Sand Beach, Hamoa Beach. We are also close to Waimoko Falls and a few other famous Maui waterfalls.
One of the best things our Hana property provides is peace and quiet.
