Beautiful and peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with us.

As soon as we entered the driveway we knew we were somewhere special. The grounds were gorgeous with flowers, decorative items, palm trees and banana trees.

The room was decorated and had everything needed. We had the ocean view from inside and outside. I loved the deck with the outdoor kitchen.

You are a wonderful host by providing a beautiful environment and privacy.

Thanks for the wonderful memories!

This was a delightful place to stay off the beaten path. Sam and Mercury were just charming.

My husband and I loved these accommodations. Outdoor kitchen area. Well stocked. The grounds were lovely, mix of grass, trees and forest. Very quiet. Night sky spectacular. Saw an owl, probably a barn owl, fly over the yard one evening. Ruddy Turnstones and Pacific Plovers feeding in the grass. Wonderful frogs calling at dusk. A great place to explore from or to just hang out, read and relax. An extensive library right in the room. Fruit stands nearby.

Serene place, beautiful scapes

  • 4 of 5

The place is beautiful. We didn't feel disturbed by the owners.

One quick tip though, it is quite far away from the main cities/towns.

Hana town is 40 mins away and the roads are hilly and narrow.

Also there's not much to do after sunset

(can try star gazing or reading or book or playing games indoors )

So if you are seeking that kind of an escape, this is a good place to be in.

Private cottage in breathtaking Hana

  • 5 of 5

Loved the location and the facilities of this cottage. The owners Samadhi and her daughter Mercury are also very sweet. On day one they walk you through things you need to know in the property and around to sight see. After that you almost don't even see them until the day you leave. The kitchen is outdoors but good enough to cook for couple of people. The bed and bathroom are quite adequately comfortable. The location is stunning, the property grounds are maintained very well and has an amazing sense of tranquility when you wake up in the mornings or you want to retire on the deck with a glass of wine after a long day of hiking, etc.. Will definitely consider staying here again if I visit Hana.

Wonderful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time. The property is beautiful! Our favorite was the outdoor kitchen and lanai. We were sheltered from the rain and could still enjoy outside. Would stay again. Thanks Sam and Mercury.

About Samadhi Butterfly

Originally from Michigan, I have been blessed to be a Hana, Maui resident since 1982. I run our B&B with my daughter. Together we have created this special place for our guests to enjoy and we keep busy making sure our 4-acre parcel is beautiful and manicured.

We were fortunate to have found this lush and peaceful spot on the Island of Maui. After my husband passed, my daughter and I needed a way to make a living, so we took advantage of having a space to renovate into a Bed and Breakfast, as this allowed Mercury (my daughter) and myself to stay at home, run a business and have a connection with wonderful folks from all over the world. This has worked out better than we could even imagined!

Samadhi Butterfly purchased this cottage in 1989

Why Samadhi Butterfly chose Kipahulu

We are 100% green (completely solar powered) and offer our guests the chance to enjoy the lifestyle and and views that one would expect of a tropical paradise. Although we are always happy to answer questions and can offer plenty of advice on any Hana activities or sightseeing spots, we ultimately respect the privacy of our guests and believe in making sure you have a peaceful and romantic stay while you are here. We are around when you need us… and respectful when you want to be alone.

What makes this cottage unique

We have the luxury of privacy, peace and quiet in our setting. Mercury and I enjoy staying on our blessed piece of paradise and working in nature to make things beautiful. We enjoy donating to the homeless with our abundant fruit from our trees. We get most of our social connections with the wonderful folks that visit our B&B. We enjoy being totally 'green' and helping provide true eco-friendly accommodations but with the creature-comforts one would expect of a wonderful place to vacation.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The Mother-Daughter team do a great job at hospitality in their

"Piece of Paradise". We enjoyed two of our dinners on the lanai

watching the sunset. One dinner we ate off of the bamboo tray on our

bed because of the rainfall. As the evenings progressed, we would sit

at the table and read, eat tropical fruit from the property then

crawl into the king size bed and watch the geckos crawl up the

outside of the windows. The croaking frogs and light rainfall lulled

us to sleep several nights.

We enjoyed coconut milk, mangoes and bananas from the beautifully

manicured grounds (a former banana plantation).

Once we were greeted and shown around, we were given complete

privacy, unless we sought them out with a question. I bought a nice

costume jewelry necklace from Mercury's collection of handmade

jewelry. We appreciated all of the plumerias and other exotic flowers

used to decorate our room.

We would recommend Ala Aina Ocean Vista, especially for honeymooners;

lots of privacy and beautiful scenery. The only sounds we heard were

the mooing of nearby cows occasionally, birds trilling, the wind in

the mango trees and the frogs at night. Ahhhhh, lovely!

This is the exact opposite of Kaanapali's hustle and bustle. it's

remote, quiet & relaxing. If you want to rejuvenate and enjoy nature,

this is the place to stay!
