Belvedere Duomo is Florence's most beautiful location for your Italian holiday. Located literally on the side of Brunelleschi's Duomo (only 27 meters or 80 feet away), the two level apartment has a large terrace for dining (for 8) and relaxing in the shadow of this great dome, the third largest Church in the world. After an extensive two year renovation, this property is 'new' in the shell of a 12th century structure. The amenities of the apartment are as you would find in a luxury hotel suite, with a gourmand's kitchen, computer hookups and wi-fi, washer/dryer, and an elegant all travertine bath.
The apartment is on the fourth level of the building, with 88 steps well worth the journey. Assistance is provided to help with luggage upon arrival.
Spend a once in a lifetime vacation at one of the most historic sites in all of Italy, with all of the comforts of a 5 star hotel. Belvedere Duomo comfortably sleeps 4 in comfortable beds with ample storage and unique original artwork and sculptures throughout the apartment.
One step onto the terrace of this magnificent unit, and you will understand the historic importance and splendor of Italy.

I am an architect in New Orleans Louisiana USA - educated in Rome and Florence, and have always dreamed of the perfect getaway in Italy. 'Belvedere Duomo' - meaning 'beautiful view of the Duomo' is just that place, with a very convenient, luxurious and quiet apartment with the appointments of Florence's finest hotels.
Ron Blitch purchased this apartment in 2009
After searching for an apartment for over a year, I saw this completely renovated 12th century apartment with one of the greatest views in all of Italy - Brunelleschi's Cathedral, or the Duomo. The powerful presence of the Duomo from the upper living room and kitchen (unique around the entire Duomo) is breathtaking and hard to put into words. The Duomo becomes 'part' of your Florence experience, from a vantage point that only you can enjoy.
Located literally next to the Duomo, Belvedere Duomo is only a few minutes from the Uffizi, the Train Station, the Central Market and San Lorenzo (Medici Chapel), and the Galleria Accademia (David). The apartment is a 'new' property, completed restored and rebuilt after 2 years of intensive work, including wonderful appointments and conveniences only found in a luxury suite in a fine hotel.
We just thought we would drop you a line and thank you for such a wonderful place to stay. I travel the world (a lot for business, but also a lot for pleasure) and have to say this is one of the finest places we have stayed. My wife is a decorator and usually I hear what she would do different when we stay at rental homes. Not this time, she LOVES what you have done to the place.
Paolo has been wonderful. He introduced us to a new artist by the name of Elena Faccini and we bought some art from her. Not sure if you know of her but judging by the art we see here you might want to take a look. Up and coming artist we believe.
We also visited Gabriele Mossa whom we found through your information and art. WOW, wish he still did the masks you have in your place here. UNBELIEVABLE! We did purchase three items from him though, he is a wonderful talent and thanks for the information. I have included a photo with Gabriele and my wife with one of the items we purchased.
Again, thank you for creating such a wonderful place to stay. We look forward to staying here many more times in the future. We love Florence and we LOVE your place.
This apartment is incredible. The terrace alone is worth staying here, but the apartment is fantastic top to bottom. Highly recommended.
This was absolutely the best place we could have asked for in Florence. I almost wanted to keep this gem a secret to myself, but the owner Ron really deserves some kudos for his wonderful home.
I had looked at many places in Florence, and I wanted a fantastic view coupled with a some space, privacy, and luxury. This condo has it all.
Let's start with the obvious: The view is not only incredible, but you're not going to find another VRBO or hotel that compares. You get a very personal experience with the Duomo, and we felt so privileged to be able to soak it in day after day (instead of just rushing about like a tourist). You soon realize that you're fortunate enough to occupy the only terrace like this in Florence. I didn't see a single comparable perch-- and I even hiked up to the top of the Duomo and the Bell Tower and looked down! I saw my terrace and felt like the King of Florence.
Not only does the (totally private!) terrace provide the best view in Florence, it's also beautifully appointed. We learned from the guest book that the owner Ron is an well known architect back here in the states. It makes perfect sense why this place is decorated so well-- he has great taste. The furniture and art were exceptional quality, and we felt like we were staying at our own home. Ron has really done an outstanding job of making this a perfect luxury retreat. We were amazed by the custom handmade ceramic tables (the kind you see often in places like Positano with the hand painted lemon motif). These patio tables are the type you'll see that cost several thousand each and I've never stayed in a VRBO in which the owner put such beautiful high quality pieces of furniture.
After a quick trip to the supermarket around the corner, we sat out on the terrace and enjoyed wine, salame, and cheese. We had the Duomo all to ourselves, peacefully above all the hustle and bustle below on the street.
We were told the building was built in the 1315, and is older than the famous dome it overlooks! Honored stay in a 700+ year old building. The unit is newly remodeled into high end luxury condo. The unit felt like brand new, and such high quality fixtures! I would say it was actually nicer than the last Ritz Carlton I stayed.
People keep talking about the steps to get up there. These are a piece of cake and I don't know what all the fuss is about. The manager Paulo was waiting at the front entry for us and even carried our bags.
Best place in Florence. Hands down!
Fabulous location and spectacular apartment, in keeping with the historical style of beautiful Florence. Incredible views, from all the windows and of course the terrace. Everything is thoughtfully and comfortably thought out, even the linens. And Paolo was very helpful. Just wish we could have stayed longer !
The location of this apartment can't be beat. You litterally have an amazing balcony that looks directly at the Duomo - as well as a view of almost the entire city. We spent lots of time really looking at the exterior architecture of the Duomo from this bird's eye view. It is truely like having a museum piece all to yourself to admire.
The apartment is comfortable, modern and well appointed. It is located very close to everything so we had dinner out and cooked meals in as well. The 88+ steps are a challenge, so pack light. But once you get settled, they become routine and walking those steps means you can eat all the amazing food you want!
Paolo was wonderful (as was Alberto). He made us reservations for a great local restaurant on our first night which helped us settle in right away.
As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the bed is exceptionally comfortable and something you will cherish if you have travelled in Italy.
Our stay here was definitely a highlight of our trip to Italy.
This apartment has the best view of the Duomo and is in the best location in Florence. I almost hate to say this because at some point in the near future it will be impossible to rent.
Comfortable and convenient to see Florence, this is where you want to stay.
Currently there are about 100 steps to the top patio overlooking the Duomo. But I understand in the next year or so there will be an elevator installed to take you to the top. But you get used to the steps and you are doing your heart a favor.
If you are looking for a wonderful place to stay in Florence where you can cook or at least make your own breakfast, you have found it.
Plan your trip and rent this apartment and go.
We had a wonderful time in Florence and staying in belvedere duomo #1 only added to the great experience. Coffe in the morning on the terrace with duomo practically within reach, and returning in the evening for an aperol spritz or wine again on the terrace was magical. This apartment is great and has everything you need to feel at home. And Paolo , who helped check us in and get acquainted with everything was super! Thanks Paolo! We would definitely stay again on future trips to Firenze! Thank you!
Tours of the Cupola, the Roof, and the Campanile of the Duomo are within 50 meters of the apartment
