Silverthorne Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7)

This beautiful lake cabin has an open main level with cathedral ceilings and a grand floor to ceiling moss rock wood-burning fireplace. The private master suite has a private bath, deck and small reading loft with views of the surrounding mountains and the pristine Green Mountain Reservoir. The massive deck and windows are spectacular for taking in the sun, views and wildlife watching. Enjoy the evening by the toasty fireplace or soaking in the hot tub while star gazing. Hot tub will be available by request and an additional fee.

Heeney lies on the banks of the Green Mountain Reservoir and is the smallest, sleepiest Summit County 'town' with a year round population of approximately 65. The town is at the lowest most northern end of the county and is often forgotten, but not by the outdoor enthusiasts. The reservoir, unlike Lake Dillon, allows for water sports and snowmobiling. So, Heeney is a common destination for sport lovers, whether they are windsurfers, jet skiers, water skiers, wake boarders, fishermen or the occasional cliff jumper.

Enjoy watching the moods of the lake change with the weather and the seasons. Winter has its incredible beauty when the lake is frozen and the snowmobiles are off and running. Ice fishing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and hunting are a few other favorites for winter fun, but sitting by a roaring fire with gorgeous lake view and mountain views are a personal favorite to many. The pristine mountain lake takes on a whole different feel in the summer when the leisure time is filled with wakeboarding, tubing, skiing, and fishing. The wind surfers and even the cliff jumpers make an appearance now and then.

Heeney rests at about 8,000 feet above sea level and is nestled between Green Mountain Reservoir and the Gore and Williams Peak mountain ranges. This modest community is only about 30- 40 minutes to Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain and Arapahoe Basin and offers a unique change of venue from the nearby resorts of Summit County. There is little commercial development surrounding the reservoir, but you will find a small marina offering boat rentals, a boat launch and a bait and tackle shop.

Cattle still graze the beautiful mountains surrounding the lake, and the pace of life is still that of a sleepy, little lake side village. You can expect to encounter deer, elk, bear, a bald eagle family and an occasional fox along the scenic drive into Heeney. Experience the hospitality and warm welcome that are an instinctive part of the unique little community. Come see for yourself and enjoy a taste of true tranquility which is so quickly disappearing in today’s hectic world.

This is more than a vacation rental; it will become your family’s favorite playground as it is ours.

About Kelli Bennett

I'm a real estate broker in Summit County and I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and yes, of course my dogs. I travel, love the outdoors and all the mountains have to offer. When work permits, I spend my time at 'The Lake House' fishing, wake boarding, hiking or just hanging around with a good book while soaking in the views.

What makes this cabin unique

The pristine mountain lake takes on a whole different feel in the summer when the leisure time is filled with wakeboarding, tubing, skiing, and fishing. The wind surfers and even the cliff jumpers make an appearance now and then. Winter, too, has its beauty when the lake is frozen and the snowmobiles are off and running. Ice fishing is another opportunity for winter fun, but sitting by a roaring fire with a gorgeous lake view is a personal favorite to many. Heeney lies on the banks of the Green Mountain Reservoir and is our smallest, sleepiest Summit County 'town' with a year round population of approximately 65 and a few cows. The town is at the lowest most northern end of the county and is often forgotten, but not by the outdoor enthusiasts. The reservoir, unlike Lake Dillon, allows for swimming and waterskiing. So, Heeney is a common destination for water sport lovers, whether they be windsurfers, jet skiers, water skiers, wakeboarders, fishermen or the occasional cliff jumper.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wow, what a fantastic "home away from home." We had an excellent time here in Colorado and this home made it very special. The Christmas decorations added to the holiday. Hope to come back some day.

Amazing stay

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was so clean and very well maintained! The view was absolutely gorgeous! Kelli was very attentive and we were more than pleased with everything. The hot tub was just the cherry on top. We stayed over the 4th of July weekend. We had a great time seeing other towns as its not that far from Silverthorne, Frisco, Vail and Keystone. We went whitewater rafting and spent a lot of time coming and going. It was so nice to have a place to come home to and relax. This place just brought the whole vacation together and made it that more memorable. We will be returning.

Great house! Amazing views! Perfect vacation rental.

  • 5 of 5

We could not have found a more perfect vacation rental for the price, location, and pet friendly. If you are looking to get away from it all this is the place to be. Ski resorts are only 30-45 mins away. The owner was very quick to answer all questions and was very accomidating. We will stay here every time we visit Colorado. The pictures do not do this place justice. Thank you Kelli, we had a vacation to remember forever.

Perfect for our Family

  • 5 of 5

This property was quaint and exactly as described. It was perfect for our family (parents, our 3 adult children, and our son's dog) to leave the crowded ski towns over Christmas and come here to relax and enjoy a home cooked meal as a family after a day of winter activities. We skied, tubed, and snowmobiled... which were all a blast! Like others have mentioned before, the friendly fox stopped by almost every evening to peek in through the sliding glass door. We found it enjoyable and our dog wanted to go out and play with him so badly. Thanks to Kelli for sharing her home.

Best labor day weekend ever!

  • 5 of 5

This is one wonderful place to share with friends and family. We were a group of six and had one whale of a time. The house is equipped with all amenities. The front deck has a spectacular view of the lake. On the very first night we had a bear toying w/ the trash can and luckily we got to enjoy it on an almost full moon night. We had some picture perfect views of sunrise and sunset on the lake and we even got to see a breathtaking double rainbow over the reservoir, all right from our deck. The place is perfect for small hikes as there are some pretty good hiking trails around the Cataract Lake and on the area near the log gate at the end of the reservoir. There is a small marina and we enjoyed a boat ride. Overall the stay was a memorable one and we hope to come back again……

Peaceful!

A great place to stay. So nicely decorated, gorgeous views, and had everything we needed. The hummingbirds were very entertaining, and we shared our chicken with the fox that appeared on the deck. If you want to relax, this is the place to do so!
