This is an oceanfront home with a sweeping view of the Caribbean side of Eleuthera, built in 2009. We have taken extra attention to upgrade the amenities that set it apart from others. It is our family's vacation home and we have equipped it to be bright, cheery and comfortable! Each bedroom has a 36'' flat screen TV with DVD player and the 47'flat screen TV in the family room has a Nintendo Wii with DVD player. A 12 X 19 screened in porch faces the water for incredible sunsets! The kitchen has upgraded appliances and there are individual air conditioners throughout the house. All furnishings are colorfully done in a manner befitting this splendid Bahamian home on the water. For your enjoyment, we have created a new beach and boat launch ramp. Also, there are two clear bottom kayaks and numerous snorkel sets that are sized for all members of the family. A Ford Explorer and a Toyota 4x4 truck are available for rent. One mile to Ten Bay Beach for great sand dollar hunting! Other great pink sand beaches close by.
Before we even arrived to Savannah Sunset we were treated spectacular. We wanted a beach vacation that was different, one that offered pure beaches, non-commercial flare and excellent accommodations. Sometimes when you crave quiet & remote you can get rough facilities. Not so with this home!
Ss was ammmaazing. It's like an adult size dollhouse. The home is built so well, the woodwork, colors and accessories are excellent- so very homey, I felt like we were living in an issue of Pottery Barn magazine. There are kayaks, snorkel gear, beach chairs and our 13 year old loved and appreciated the boogie board. One of our favorite spots was the second floor screened in porch. We read, laughed, talked and enjoyed our time so much in that space. The kitchen is so well stocked. We have rented homes for vacations in the past and this kitchen was Number #1 best for appliances.
We were under 10 minutes from one of the best beaches we have ever experienced, Ten Bay. One day we were surrounded by so many alive sand dollars we had to be careful where we stepped!
Don & Trish really have created a home- not just a rental. We hope to return, this time with at least 2 more people! There were 4 of us- we think 2 more people would be lovely! Here are things I will know when I return:
*I will pack lighter- no need to dress up anywhere on Eleuthera.
*We will budget more for groceries. We only ate out 3 times (once from a "take away") & the kitchen is so nice I will buy more groceries for our stay next time. Plan on groceries being more expensive than the states because everything is imported. But what you spend on groceries you save on buying "touristy stuff."
*I will know there is a super amount of books & movies at SS, I read 3 of their books.
*I will be prepared for the "backroad terrain" getting to the house & beaches. Having the 4x4 was such a plus.
Really, I can't write enough positive about this home & our experience! It was perfect.
I have rented many vacation homes all over the world on my travels for the past 15 years. Savannah Sunset definitely ranks up there in my Top 3! My friends and I rented it for 6 nights of our Girlcation and we were all thoroughly wowed by this property. Don was excellent with which to correspond. He answered all my questions via email and even called me a couple of times to make a few trip arrival arrangements. Payment was done via international money transfer from my Canadian acct and went smoothly. Peter, Don's property manager in Eleuthera, met us at GHB with the truck that goes with the property (use it as the road and driveway into the house are a bit rough and it comes in handy on those potholed roads into beaches). Once we got to the house, he showed us how to use everything and gave us the cell phone that his number programmed into it. We could call him anytime we needed anything or use it on our daily travels on the island.
The house is such a beautiful, well-maintained home. We went gah-gah over the abundant and varied dishes, table linens, glasses, and every kitchen utensil/item you could ever possibly need. There was even food wrap, baggies, spices, water bottle cooler, etc. In the garage were lots of snorkelling gear, snorkel carry bags, beach chairs, cooler bags, life jackets, etc. Washrooms were very clean and stocked and the beds were extremely comfortable. Down at the dock, we found more flippers and snorkel masks, sand toys, ladder into the water, chairs and a beautiful tiki hut. We spent many hours down there relaxing, snorkelling and kayaking. While snorkelling we saw a sting ray, needlefish, corals, lion fish, barracuda, angelfish, triggerfish and more. One morning we were even greeted by a pod of dolphins which swam beside the kayak for a short time!!
Special Thanks to Peter. One day we noticed coolant dripping from the truck. We called him and he came over right away to look at it. He took it to a mechanic where it was discovered it needed a part replaced. Peter called us back to say he would have it fixed and to look outside where a rental truck had already been arranged and delivered for us to use for the rest of our stay at no extra charge!! Amazing customer service!
There were cats that hanging out around the house when we were there. If you have allergies, you should mention this to Don when inquiring to see if they are still there.
This was truly a memorable Girlcation thanks to Savannah Sunset!!
WOW!!! We've been to resorts and we have rented beach homes - Savannah Sunset is the perfect blend of both. Great location! The scenery is beautiful but so is the house. The decor is amazing and every amenity you can imagine is provided. And everything in the house is top-notch quality. Plenty of space for our family of 5. We were picked up from the airport and brought to the house. A "welcome meal" was ready for us and much appreciated after a long day of travel. Our family took full advantage of the glass bottom kayaks and use of the jeep. If we weren't outside on the deck and in the water then we were in the screened in portch. Don is wonderful to work with and thinks of all possible details to make the trip perfect. I hesitate at sharing this info because we want to be able to come back again and again! IT'S AMAZING - BOOK IT TODAY!
We vacationed at this property for one week in July 2014; the owner has set this up to be trouble free from airport pick up to amenities, to local arrangements for entertainment and fun; The home and the feeling of the home are much better than what one can imagine by looking at photographs; all that is listed and more is available at the house; bedding is super comfortable, loved the main kithen/living room full windows toward the sound and the amazing views and freedom you get when your eyes first see it in the morning; it is the best way I found to start my day; kids loved it and time did go by slower than most other vacations we took; Peter is the caretaker of the house locally and he is very nice; word of advice is to define your requirements as far as his regular visits at the onset; the island spirit is so friendly that Peter will drop in otherwise almost daily to check on you; the welcome dinner was truly home cooked and wouldnt have traded it for anything else. Bring supplies from the states; the local population lives off the price difference between states-prices and locally charged prices therefore it gets really expensive; we would go back in a heart beat as all this gives some really sweet local flavor. DO RENT THE SUV THAT IS OFFERED TO YOU AS YOU WILL NEED A CAR TO MOVE AROUND. Thank you for Don!
My Mother and I went to Eleuthera in May of 2012! I was 23 years old at the time...and I LOVED every single minute!!
The home was absolutely beautiful! The pictures of this house do not even do it justice. Everything from the tropical décor, to the entertainment provided by the fully equipped house(movie center/dvds/games, snorkel gear, kayaks, a mini library etc)... to the stunning views from the home itself are out of this world. My favorite spot is the front porch over looking the beautiful private beach, deck, and ocean!
The home itself was extremely clean and well looked after. We were greeted by Peter, who is such a lovely man and made us feel right at home! He was available for us to call him with any questions at any time! How kind.
The island itself...is unlike anything I have ever experienced before. I fell in love with the island and would love to go back. I felt so at peace there.
My Mom and I did yoga on the private beach daily....explored other beaches.... (there were lots of books provided in the house about exploring the island) went snorkeling.... bought conch from a local fisherman in Governor's Harbor and cooked it ourselves.. yum... we went to the local fish fry both Fridays we were there... and dined out at many restaurants.
I was unsure how much fun I would have as I was 23 and I had read Eleuthera can be very quiet... but honestly it is the most fun I have ever had on any vacation. I was so happy to be there and spent amazing quality time with my Mom.
I have traveled a lot for someone my age... and i have never felt so in love with a vacation spot! You have such a beautiful piece of heaven at your home in Eleuthera! Thank you for the amazing experience. I would love to do it again sometime!
This house and destination spot is most certainly 5 out of 5 stars!!!
All the best, thank you again and take care,
What a wonderful beach vacation home to celebrate our wedding anniversary! It was quiet, secluded, beautifully decorated and very private. Everything described in the listing was included, and we were so pleased that we chose this rental. From the moment we landed at the airport and met by Peter, the home manager, to our welcome dinner we knew this was going to be a very special place. We felt safe and secure during our entire visit, and found everyone friendly and helpful. It was easy to explore the island using the Ford Explorer, and driving on the left was not too difficult. We dined at Tippy's and The Sunset Inn and had drinks at the Rainbow. Would recommend all of them. The Leon Levy Preserve was an enjoyable and educational experience and not to be missed. Our favorite beach was the closest one to the house, Ten Beach. We spent most of our time on the porch, breakfast every morning and dinners that we made together, then watching the fabulous sunsets. Completed an album of our pictures to remember this trip, and look forward to sharing it with our entire family. Savannah Sunset truly is a unique place and one not to be missed if vacationing on Eleuthera
Having renting many vacation homes, I can say this was one of the best. The house is very well-built and maintained. Lovely, comfortable furnishings. Kitchen is well-stocked and the house comes with lots of extras (kayaks, snorkeling equipment, beach chairs) that made exploring the island easy and enjoyable.
Eleuthera IS an island paradise! Not touristy and very quiet. 5 beaches in 5 days & most completely deserted but for us. You'd think our very social teen-aged daughters (15 & 17) would be bored, but they loved the solitude which gave them a welcome break from their very busy schedules.
Would love to go back & bring the extended family.
