We would like to take this opportunity to 'thank' everyone for viewing our site and booking with us. It's a joy for us to be able to share this great house and location with others. We are taking bookings now for 2012, so check our calendar to see if your dates are available and send us an email. Thanks again.
My wife & I are from North Lake Tahoe and knew that someday we wanted a house near the beach. We searched the California coastal towns, narrowed the search to Morro Bay, happened upon this house one day and got very lucky with our purchase. We love this town, our location and views.
Fred Wickman purchased this house in 2008
We had a detailed criteria for a second home, knowing that we may retire there someday. It had to be near the ocean, close to a college town (Cal Poly), near a major hospital, close to lots of golf & fishing and the bonus for us was how big the Central Coast Wine Region is. We couldn't have picked a better place.
Three words . . . . . views, views and more views !!! We are always surprised at how much we just sit and stare at the waves breaking on the beach, the wildlife and the surfers. It's just constant movement and different every day. We love sitting on the front porch at sunset with a great glass of wine, it just doesn't get much better than that !
We were 3 couples who drove up from LA and were looking for a pretty beach house where we could relax. Beachcomber's Paradise fit the bill to a tee! We spent many a morning drinking coffee staring at the ocean or taking a walk on the beach in front of the house and many an evening enjoying an adult beverage in front of the fire pit.
The house is well appointed and we were never lacking for anything. We loved all the beach 'kitsch' that decorated the house and gave it that fun, vacation feel. The owners left us great instructions on the place and area insights that we took advantage of (Hearst Castle, Taco Temple, downtown restaurants, etc).
Thanks Fred and Candi for your hospitality!
I'm not exaggerating when I say that some of our group had tears in their eyes on our last day when it was time to leave this fun, beautiful home. Not only is it perfectly decorated to be the ideal "beach house", we also found it to be well-stocked, comfortable and organized. The view is exactly as advertised and although the parking lot was full of campers during our stay - we did not experience any noise or issues. The beds were super comfy and we all slept really well! The beach itself was fantastic - we spent hours looking for sand dollars (they are plentiful so be sure to go on a hunt!), exploring the tide pools, and I was able to indulge my passion for bird photography. Saw long-billed curlews, willets, terns, whimbrels, semi-palmated plovers, western & least sandpipers, black oystercatchers, and more. No snowy plovers (wrong time frame most likely), but I can see the habitat is perfect for them and would expect to see them at other times of the year. Nearby Morro Bay offered great activities such as kayaking, tours of the bay, the Natural History Museum, sea lions and...our favorite...sea otters! We went multiple times to see the otters who were right up against the rocks which made for great photo ops! Found the peregrine falcon nesting site on Morro Rock itself, but the falcons didn't cooperate so I have something to look forward to next time. This location is perfect as a home base for day trips, too. We headed to Montana de Oro state park one day and visited Cambria and the San Simeon elephant seals on another day. After all that gadding about, my 13-year-old son's favorite part of the trip was making s'mores on the front patio using the gas fire pit while we watched the sun go down over the beach. I would book this location again in a heartbeat!
This is a great home for enjoying the beautiful Pacific Ocean views, beaches, fresh air whales, birds, people.... All of our family from the 4 year old to the 92 year old loved this house. The house is clean, well stocked, beds are comfortable, location excellent. Go ahead and choose this one, you'll be happy you did!
We visited for a long weekend in June, 2016. The house is beautiful and has an amazing beachfront location. We enjoyed long walks on the beach and watching amazing sunsets. The house is well-furnished, and the kitchen has everything needed to cook gourmet dinners in. We will definitely be back!
Weather was cool and rock was covered in fog, but nice to be outside without roasting. Seen lost of sights. House is in good location to get to all the sights and view was great. House is very nicely furnished with all the things you need. Great sitting out by firepit at night.
This was our 2nd stay at the Beachcomber’s Paradise. It has been a perfect place for my husband, our dog and myself to relax and enjoy family and friends. Our son has come from out of state on both occasions as well as visiting friends in around the local areas. We cook 90% of our meals, which allows us to really visit and catch up on everyone’s life. The house is fully stocked, and everything in working order. There is plentiful seating out front for enjoying the wonderful ocean views and air. Fred and Candi have been terrific hostess.
Other Activities: The Central Coast is a very large wine region with some of the best wines in all of California. Enjoy a day of wine tasting in this area..
Golf: For you golf enthusiasts, there is a wonderful 18 hole course in Morro Bay with ocean and bay views from almost every hole.
