Quietly set in the forest on 2 acres along California Creek, on the edge of the Chugach State Park, yet conveniently located directly across the street from Alaska's famous Double Musky Restaurant, 1 mile from Alyeska Ski Resort, and just minutes to great hiking trails, shops, restaurants and so much more.

This craftsman style unit offers uncompromised comfort with deluxe linens on a pillow-top mattress and a full bath with all amenities This unit has a gorgeous, large kitchen with all appliances and utensils, granite counter tops and views of Mt. Alyeska. The dining table is just off the kitchen and the living room is furnished with a comfortable queen size sleeper sofa, a large flat screen smart cable TV, WiFi and a private entrance and deck.

The Chalet, an 1,860 square foot timber frame Barn, was originally built in 2005 to be used by owner Jake Thompsons as his wood shop, stalls for the two Percheron draft horses, Kobuk & Tecumseh “the boys” used in the Carriage business, and a hayloft above. In 2010 one of the boys was lost due to health issues and the other was retired. The years following the renovations began, sanding all the beautiful Douglas Fir timbers and enclosing the stall areas. The transformation was amazing and the new units are nicely appointed craftsman style luxury. The Carriage House Chalet Loft is often referred to as the hayloft, as it once was.

Very much enjoyed our stay

  • 5 of 5

I booked the chalet for my upcoming wedding. We reserved the room for the night before the wedding as well as the wedding night. My arrangements for getting ready for the wedding changed last minute and the owner was kind enough to let me and my bridesmaids use the chalet for hair and makeup the day of the wedding. I truly appreciated her flexibility and it ended up being a great spot for us! I only wished my husband and I could have stayed longer to enjoy the hot tub one more night. It was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again, the property was impeccable and so beautiful. Thanks!

Exactly as pictured

The Hay Loft was a great place to stay in Girdwood right across the street from the Double Musky and easy access to hiking (Winner Creek). The space was clean and we really enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful one night stay at Girdwood

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I took his parents to Girdwood for the night. The chalet was very nice and clean and had all the essentials. The hot tub was a nice addition. The chalet is located right across from Double Muskey restaurant, unfortunately, it was closed on Monday and we did not get a chance to eat there. However, it is still a nice location. Rachel, the host, was very quick and detailed with her communication. Overall, our experience was very pleasant and I weiuld recommend this place to other people without a doubt.

New Hayloft - Beautiful + Spacious

  • 5 of 5

My mother and bridal party rented the newer rooms at the property. The Hayloft is a large unit that covers the entire second floor and is very spacious and brand new! This unit is probably the most impressive in the entire property, it has a living area, bathroom, bedroom with a comfy bed, spacious kitchen with all the tools and glasses you'd need, and its own reserved parking space. Breakfast is made by the owners who were very friendly and made us feel at home. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I am in the area, it's also conveniently located just across the street from the Double Musky Inn which is Zagat rated and has great drinks and food. Bonus points for being the closest place to stay if you are getting married at the Crow Creek Mine! :-)
