Have your morning coffee on the lanai listening to the song of the birds and watching sunrise over Haleakala. Afternoon and evening, watch the whales and spectacular sunsets.
Kihei Akahi is located steps from Kamaole II beach. 'Our' beach provides calm sunning and water activities in the morning, great boogie boarding in the afternoon. Good snorkeling can be found at the south end with fish, corals and turtles. During whale season one easily sees whales breach. The beach has a lifeguard on duty, showers, grills and restroom facilities. Sunset draws a crowd each evening to watch for the 'green flash'.
The condo is completely updated. Ample granite counter space anchors the kitchen. Appliances include gas range, side by side refrigerator with ice maker, microwave and dishwasher. The open design allows inclusion and conversation for the chefs.
New porcelain tile flooring connects the entry, kitchen, living and dining rooms and baths. Bedrooms are carpeted. A new walk-in tiled and glass blocked shower adds to the charm of the master bedroom. Both bedrooms have generous closets with shoji screen doors.
The living room is tastefully furnished. A wall mounted flat screen TV provides easy viewing. A DVD/CD player, cable TV, board games and cards provide further entertainment. Wireless wifi lets you stay in touch with friends and family.
Everything you need for an outstanding, relaxing vacation is provided. You will find boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels, mats and a cooler at your fingertips.
Three split AC units are available, though rarely needed. The corner location, ceiling fans and the trade-winds provide a wonderful breeze and let you enjoy the sound of the tropical birds.
The beautifully landscaped grounds provide two pools, tennis courts and barbecue facilities. Your designated parking space is right by the elevator.
Besides the proximity to the beach, great restaurants and shops are within walking distance. Shave ice, ATM's, groceries and more are nearby. Bike racks are provided and bike rentals are available.
No smoking, no pets.

Pam first came to Maui in 1969 with her parents. There have been lots of changes, but the beauty and charm has not lessened.
Pam & Charlie met in Alaska. Charlie spent years in Public Broadcasting while Pam taught history and English. Juneau winters made Maui a favorite getaway for our family of three children. We now enjoy sharing the experience with our grandchildren.
Currently we are split between a base in Seattle, our Maui condo, and Charlie and Pam's work in Nairobi, Kenya. Charlie has worked overseas for USAID the past ten years. His current assignment has provided news in twelve tribal dialect to Southern Sudan and Darfur. Pam has split her time between teaching at the French International School, and volunteer teaching in the Kibera slum.
We hope at some point to have our base in Kihei. Until that time, we hope you will enjoy our 'home away from home' as much as we do.

We had looked for several years before deciding on Kihei Akahi. The views and the beach were major factors. Its location is 'not too far' from activities, yet still provides a quiet, private retreat.
All the modern conveniences and ease of stay combined with location, location, location.
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful place with us. We appreciated all the amenities. It was absolutely beautiful in the morning and the evening with the view. We enjoyed watching the whales from the balcony.

This was my family's first visit to Maui and taking a chance on location and property I must say this was a HUGE success.. The room was perfect: a two bedroom 2 bath was plenty of room for our family of 4. The proximity to Kama'ole Beach was so close, no vehicle needed. The room also had beach chairs, beach towels, boogie boards and a little cooler for beach days. Stores and groceries were within walking distance. If you are an earlier riser like myself then grab your running shoes and head outside , trails and paths and even the road are awesome to take advantage of a good morning workout. Overall this rental was Amazing!! Definitely would like to return and if I do this will be my number one choice.. Thanks Pam for an awesome holiday..
Beautiful condo in a great location. It really is as nice as the pictures! Quiet complex. 5 min walk to the beach and 10 min walk to a convenience store & dive shop. Loved seeing the sun set from the balcony and sitting out there under the moon. And if you have any problems you can count on Pam, she's a great lady to deal with.
Be sure to drive 5 min south to the 5 Palms for an amazing breakfast.
Where to begin: pictures are excellent representation of condo. Pam, terrific to deal with. Our first VRBO booking & she made it simple & so patient in answering all questions. The condo was very comfortable & had everything, plenty of dishes (family of 4), dishwasher=awesome, fantastic fridge w/ ice & water dispenser & even a bottle topper to cork/close-up an opened bottle of wine (to keep wine fresh). The owners thought of everything! We thought we were home. The shower in master bedroom, incredible (we are doing the same in our house). The ductless A/C 3-way split, very smartly installed. 1 in LR (I think we used it once, as the afternoon Trade winds keep the breeze going through the front door of condo, through to back & out the patio), 1 A/C unit in master bedroom & 1 in kids bedroom. On occasion when there was not an evening breeze then we would use the A/C to cool bedrooms down, otherwise, slept with windows open & enjoyed breeze. There are 2 beach chairs & even a little cooler to pack ice & water bottles for beach or many road trips we took. Also 8 beach towels were a real treat. Always had a dry towel & hangers by front door, another great & well thought out spot to put them.
Kamaole Beach 2 (just a 2 minute walk from condo), terrific beach to swim & snorkel in morning (go to the very left of the beach & up along the shore, all the way to the point, and then towards "Kam" 3, lots of fish and even a turtle. In the afternoon, the same beach would have great waves to body surf, play in the water & the kids used the boogie boards (provided in the condo).
Ulua Beach is another "must" to snorkel. Tonnes of fish, usually calmer & clearer water compared to Kam 2 and normally a good chance of seeing a turtle or two. About 8 minutes away by car.
Big beach is a beautiful beach, but the day we were there, the waves were 8-10', so we didn't head in. Basically, Ulua and Kam 2 are just about all you need for beaches.
Surf = Maui Wave Riders & ask for Justin (The real estate agent), he was awesome!
BISTRO 808= incredible lunches & the AHI & Tenderloin at supper, best ever & this place is BYOB;
CINNAMON BUN CAFE= awesome breakfast;
KIHEI CAFFE= Best breakfast & stack of 3 pancakes, enough for 2; the veggie omelette enough for 2, awesome!
SANSEI= Do early bird Sunday @ 5 (arrive by 4 to get in line), 1/2 price supper, delicious!
COSTCO= Cheap groceries & cheap gas (only 25 min's from condo).

This unit was perfect for our family of 4. Very clean, updated and had everything we needed for our 2 week stay. We loved sitting on the outside chair and relax while listening to the birds. The corner unit gets a great breeze and we rarely needed the AC. The proximity to the beach and pool was excellent. We will definitely stay here again! My only request would be to update the beach towels and beach chairs. Other than that is was perfect!
Our family makes a point to going to Maui as often as we can. We have always stayed at Kihei Akahi due to the perfect location and ammenties. This was our first time staying in this unit and I must say it was perfect from the moment we arrived. Pam was excellent in working with us right from the first email. Everything was perfect, we felt like it was home the minute we arrived. Spacious, up to date condo with a perfect view. We already booked for next year before we left!!
We stayed in this condo from July 2 through July 23. We had a fantastic time and found the owner easy to deal with. She answered questions in a timely and friendly manner. The condo was well-stocked and nicely updated with everything that we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The views from the lanai are beautiful and we enjoyed sitting on the deck listening to the birds and taking in the beautiful grounds of the complex. We traveled with two other families and we enjoyed getting together with them in the evenings around the pool. This was our fourth visit to Maui as a family and we can't wait to return again. This is a wonderfully situated condo to visit all the great beaches of south Maui, especially my kids' favorite...Big Beach. Highlight of our trip this time was the drive to Hana and our hike up through the bamboo forest to the amazing waterfall at the top. The hike is worth it!
