A beach apartment with a great ocean view from the front balcony. This 2nd story 2 B and 2 Bath unit is a nice, tranquil, breezy apartment on a quiet little street in a gated neighborhood. It is within steps of the western end of the Isla Verde Beach and a sheltered cove. Also walking distance to wide, sandy beaches, shops, restaurants and a supermarket. The apartment is fully equipped and furnished. It has two bedrooms, including a large Master bedroom with a king size bed, large bathroom and walk-in closet. Room A/C units in both bedrooms, but no central air conditioning. The apartment is great for just opening up the double doors in the living room and enjoying the ocean breeze and view. Other amenities include cable TV, DVD/CD player, WiFi internet, and washer/dryer. It is a non-smoking apartment. Relax on the balcony or in the living room enjoying the beautiful ocean views or sit in the shady patio garden. Only a 15 minute drive to the airport and Old San Juan.
Sheltered Cove. : This sheltered cove is an excellent place for small children to play in the sand and shallow, calm waters. It is a short walk from the apartment. To get further down the beach where there are wider, sandy stretches, remember to bring good beach shoes to comfortably walk over some rocks along the way. (If you would like a bigger 3 bedroom/ 2 bath apt. see our property # 938186).
A great location for food lovers. Within a short walk of the apartment you have a wide variety of eating options. There are some fast food places (Pollo Tropical and Subway), excellent bakeries (Das Pastelhous, Panaderia Espana), great local food, including 'mofongo' (Casa Dante, Rest. El Estribo), a 24 hour diner selling local and standard dishes (Levi's), pizzerias, a food truck that sells delicious steak sandwiches (El Churry), a restaurant specializing in local, organic foods (The Garden) and other fine international restaurants including Argentinian steak houses, Japanese, Peruvian ceviche, Italian and Chinese. And if you feel like cooking your own meal, a 24 hour supermarket is just down the road.
A Real Treat for Coconut Lovers: There is a coconut vender at the entry to our street. Try one of his fresh 'coco frios' for an excellent, refreshing drink. Once you are done drinking out of the shell, he'll cut open the coconut and you can enjoy the sweet coconut inside.
Local water sports: For the more adventurous, there are a few water sports shops within walking distance of the apartment. They offer scuba and snorkeling equipment and trips, wind surfing, kite sailing and paddle boarding.
A couple of the shops (Velauno and Beach Cats) offer lessons or they can get you in touch with instructors.
Check out time is 10 am. . Check in Time is 3pm.
My family and I enjoy living in San Juan and we also love traveling. We try to combine our knowledge and appreciation of Puerto Rio with our experience as travelers when we meet and communicate with our guests. Besides the best known tourist attractions, we try to identify other more unique opportunities that our guests may enjoy and make their trip special, depending on their interests. One such opportunity is the chance to volunteer a day on a local Habitat for Humanity project. As a member of the local board, I can assist in making that happen...Just ask.
Apartment was very clean and always had a nice breeze coming in through the windows from the ocean. I definitely will be staying here when i return to P.R. It is quiet and walking distance from beach. It is 40 minutes from El Yunque, 20 minutes from Old San Juan and walking distance to many resturaunts. Cafe Bistro, 2 blocks away, is a must for breakfast or lunch. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Love the cove to be able to get into the water and view some sea life.
I have stayed in many different places in the World, several in Puerto Rico We had an experience that was filled with pleasure and great experiences. The accommodations were superb, more than adequately supplied and if we needed something it was immediately provided. The Host was a delight...Friendly, concerned and so helpful its almost impossible to list. For example I hurt my knee...The Host immediately without asking arranged for a Doctors apt, took us there, went in with us made sure we were enrolled and eventually picked us up to take us home. HIS IMMEDIATE HELP DURING THE WHOLE STAY WAS AMAZING. The accommodations were very very comfortable, Very clean and plenty of room to wander. The Ocean was very close to the rear of the apt and the view marvelous Fine restaurants stores and other amenities were close and within easy walking distance.... WE ARE RETURNING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Nice view of the ocean
The only thing I would say isn't perfect is its not right on the beach. It is a short walk tho.
I stayed in the apartment for a relaxing get away with family and I have to say it exceeded my expectations. Everything is exactly as described, the photos don't do the apartment justice. Below are my comments on what made the stay so exceptional.
The location is perfect. It's in a more residential end of isla verde but a short walk from the more commercial end.
John was so accommodating. He was very thoughtful about making sure the apartment was equipped with every convenience of home... sunblock, beach chairs, towels, condiments, he even had a play pin for my toddler when we arrived! I didn't find myself reaching for anything that wasn't there.
John was very helpful in helping us discover some hidden gems that we probably would not have explored our own. Restaurants, attractions, etc.
I would absolutely recommend this apartment if you are looking for a more local experience. I would stay here again on my next trip to San Juan.
We stayed at John's apartment in mid December, 2014; had a wonderful time. At night the Coqui (tree frogs) sang outside of our rooms. Not quite the jungle atmosphere but it's nice to hear the sounds of nature. Adding to the chorus is the sounds of ocean flapping the sea wall. Beautiful!. Be warned though, the sounds can be so loud that they may wake you up in the middle of the night. Regardless it's a very unique experience.
One day of our stay it rained. The rain forest when it rains it pours. It rained so hard we couldn't go outside. John offered to take us to the mall and we took the offer. The mall is very typical American shopping mall, but it beats being cooped up inside a small apartment in the rain. That's a nice touch on top of John's attentive to our needs, and tips to the surrounding areas. We got to taste the young coconuts harvested from his trees, freed. A Caribbean experience. Thanks John.
Excellent location on a small, quiet access controlled neighborhood, right across the street from the ocean and the western end of the Isla Verde Beach. A short walk to all types of restaurants, from fine dining to fast food, clubs and a 24 hour supermarket. Wind surfing rental shops nearby. Relax on the nearby beaches by day and walk to great restaurants or clubs at night. Only a 10 minute drive to the airport or to Old San Juan and easy access to the expressway to explore the entire island of enchantment.
Other Activities: During June and July, considering putting your child in the local Windsurfing camp.
