Secluded 2 story log house on 2 acres, with meadow, trees, including aspen. It backs onto a 'greenbelt', adding to privacy of the location. Great mountain range views from covered back deck, which is large enough for dining and rocking chair relaxing. Located within Angel Fire Resort, but only 3 other houses within view from the property. About 2/3 way up the ski mountain (9,500'); privacy, yet access to resort.

2 master bedrooms, each w/ Queen bed and full bath; 3rd bedrm downstairs w/ bunk & trundle beds & 1/2 bath. Downstairs great room has two sofa beds. Wireless internet.

House has upstairs 'great room' and downstairs 'great room', with wood-burning fireplaces on both levels and big screen TV and bar downstairs.

WINTER: We call it "SEMI"-ski in/ ski out because you can drive a residential road 1.5 miles laterally along the ski mountain to a "green" (easy) ski run, where you can park, walk 10 yards, and ski directly onto the Angel Fire ski slopes ('semi'-ski in/ ski out). This little known access to the slopes is used by Locals. We do NOT recommend this access for those who have never skied before, but for those comfortable on their skis it's great! (Do not have to park at mountain base to access ski slope; avoid all the traffic and crowds !)

The house is on a gently sloping private 2 acres. Kids can slide down the snowy slope and cavort in the meadow, all within view of parents relaxing on the covered deck.

Summer: Resort has horseback riding, golf, tennis, fishing, etc. (Can ride horses from the resort stables up to the meadow, eat lunch, ride back down the mtn.) 4-wheeling, mountain biking, hiking, and other mountain activities available nearby. Less than 30 minutes to Taos for shopping, etc. Within 'Enchanted Circle' drive.

About The Owner

This house is owned by my brother, Terry Laughlin; sister, Sharon Nunley; and I, Lynn Laughlin. My brother is a realtor with Re/Max in Coppell, Texas; my sister is married to an independent oil and gas producer in Graham, Texas; and I am an investor located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Why The Owner chose New Mexico

Angel Fire, NM, is accessible by one day car drive from West Texas; Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex; and Oklahoma City areas. It is less than a mile from private access to the Angel Fire ski slopes. It is a family-oriented, somewhat remote area, but it does have a nice airport for private planes. The house feels remote, but it is within the Angel Fire Resort (only two other houses are visible from the house). It is located on 2 acres, which includes a meadow and aspen groves; and it is backed by a green belt.

What makes this house unique

Secluded family getaway. It is less than 4 miles from the village of Angel Fire and about 1 mile from private access to the Angel Fire ski slopes (for 'semi'-ski in/ ski out). Our two acres provides privacy and room for kids to roam. This house will attract summer renters who crave quiet and escape from the world, along with spectacular mountain range views. It will attract winter renters who want quick and easy access to the ski slopes-- without all the hassle of ski base traffic, congested parking lots, and large crowds. This house provides maximum seclusion and escape from the world with safety and ready access to Angel Fire. Less than 30 miles from Taos, NM, and Red River, NM, ski areas.

This is the place to stay!!!!

We had an awesome time here. Very comfortable house with beautiful views. We had 7 adults and 2 kids under the age of 4 and we had plenty of room. Love to open kitchen and living area. Awesome rock fireplace. The resort reported 21 inches of snow, during a 48 hours period while we were there. The house backs up to a meadow that is great for sliding. We're already talking about staying here next year. Glad I found it on VRBO. Owner was very nice and quick to answer all questions. Thanks for everything.

Nice stay

It's 2 stories. You walk into the top story. The top story has a large outside deck, living room, kitchen, dining area, 2 master bedrooms, and 2 full bathrooms. The bottom floor has a half bath, bedroom with a bunk bed, the laundry room, and a large living room with 2 fold out couches. It can easily accommodate 2 families and allow the kids to have their own space on the bottom floor.

The good: clean, 2 large living rooms, plenty of sleeping space, quiet, beautiful views, the price, fast wifi, 8-10 minute drive to the base of the mountain, nice/responsive owners, lots of hot water, nice appliances, outside flat play area for kids to play in the snow and a slight hill for them to sled (not very many places on the mountain have outside space for kids to play safely).

The okay: the walkway to the house was icy and everyone in our family slipped on it while loading/unloading (there was a bit of ice salt provided but not enough to help with that ice). The parking spot down the road to park close to the green ski trail would be great if you can use the chili lift. The wind was bad when we were there so they kept closing the chili lift. If you miss the chili lift before 4:00 when it closes, you risk not being able to ski to your vehicle and ending up stuck at the bottom of the mountain. If you park there, be sure you can take the chili lift to the top of the mountain to then ski to your vehicle. Also, they are remodeling the home.... parts are finished while other parts need a bit more work. For example, small parts of the floor and kitchen cabinet toe board aren't completed. It's not very noticeable and didn't affect our stay. One last thing, there is an automatic outside bright light attached to the house. Maybe we weren't smart enough to find the switch but it was really bright coming through our window even with the drapes pulled.

The space in the house, price, and outside environment made it an excellent stay. We would stay here again and we would recommend it. Thank you!

The property is beautiful! The house was nicely renovated and the space around the house is perfect!

The house is quite a ways up the moutanin (4 miles), which feels like a long ways in the snow. However, snow plows are always on the road and it is pretty easy driving. The house itself is beautiful and the upstairs was recently renovated and it is amazing! The views are also incredible. Our favorite part was how much space was around the house. We brought both of our big dogs and they absolutely loved all the area to run around! We would definitel stay at this location again!

Great Skiing Vacation

The house is very nice. The circle driveway allows plenty of room for parking. The house is large and has 3 single beds, 2 sofa beds, 2 queen beds, and a fairly large couch that was used as a bed. The house is perfect for two families because of the two bedrooms for the adults and the downstairs, including the 3rd bedroom, for all of the kids. The fireplace was great and all the wood you'll need is stacked and ready to go. The house is very close to the ski slope as described on the listing. It was great!

Family Wants to Come Back!

This is a very nice house and certainly lives up to it's billing. I don't think the pictures do it justice because the views are spectacular and each room is very comfortable. It's a great place to relax. The kitchen has everything you need to cook for lots of hungry skiers! The beds are super comfortable. I'm sure we'll be back.

My Rating: Excellent

This was my first time skiing and my first trip to New Mexico. We had a blast! This cabin is exactly how the pictures describe. The bathrooms were so clean you could eat off the floor. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils and even condiments for coffee etc. The best thing about it is that unlike some of the other houses on that street you don't have to traverse a steep driveway to get to the house, it's nice and level so when things get icy you have no worries. The back decks were amazing, there was plenty of cut firewood so all we had to do was toss it in and make a fire. There were only three of us for this trip since the rest of our family could not join us but this house clearly had plenty of room for at least 10 people. The large basement is perfect for kids. I wish we'd had more time here but we'll definitely be back.
