Do not rent this cabin! I rented approximately 7 months ahead of time for a wedding we were attending. I spoke to Walter Curtis (owner) numerous times and we exchanged many emails. Upon arriving at the cabin, the tv did not work nor did the wifi. There were 16 interior light bulbs burned out (yes, I counted because it was dark when we arrived) and 2 lamps were broken. The mattress and box springs in one of the rooms were falling off the bed frame, so my husband and I fixed that before the other guests arrived. Baseboards and door frames were missing, the carpet on the stairs was very stained and smelled horribly and most of the carpet from the downstairs basement area was ripped up. Mold was evident in the downstairs bathroom and hallway. In addition, the place was dusty, there were bugs (dead and alive) and the main floor bathroom did not appear to have been cleaned before our arrival. There was no hot water in the sinks, all the games in the gameroom were broken, and not enough towels were provided. I immediately reported my concerns to Mr. Curtis. He stated that a tree had recently fallen on the cabin causing some issues that could not be repaired before our arrival. He had my email and phone number and could have easily let me know that there were issues, but he chose not to. I was told that I would be reimbursed for the light bulbs that I had to purchase. Upon returning home from our trip (10/23/16) I forwarded pictures to Mr. Curtis so that he could see the condition of the cabin. He replied stating that he would review the information and be back in touch. Since that time, I have sent him 3 other emails and he has not responded. He has done nothing to make any of this positive (not even reimbursing me for the light bulbs).
This cabin needs a lot of work. Do not trust the pictures that are provided for the rental - if I could post my pictures I would. I don't feel like this cabin is healthy to stay in because of the mold (carpet and walls), dirt, dust, and bugs.
This cabin is awesome! It is exactly as pictured. There is plenty of room, the hot tub was very nice, and we had everything we needed. Location is great, only a few miles from Helen. There is a pizza place and a grocery store close by. It was comfortable and the view is amazing! The owner Walter is so nice and easy to work with. It was perfect for our girls get away weekend. I would definitely stay there again!
My husband and I stayed at Bald Eagle this week and we were thrilled with the view and the house. I would call it a cabin, but it is quite spacious and has all the comforts of a home. It is large enough to have a family gathering or friends, but also cozy if you just want to book a romantic getaway for two. The house has everything you need and was convenient to get to Cleveland and Helen.
We found the linens and towels to be in good condition and the house was clean. We loved the fact it is located on Mt. Yonah and the view is the best mountain view we have ever seen based on various places we've rented. We will definitely stay here again and we will highly recommend it to our friends and family.
I stayed here in march with a group of ten friends for a birthday getaway, and will certainly be renting this cabin again. The owner was beyond gracious and a joy to deal with while booking our cabin.
Im not sure what the earlier negative review was about, but when we stayed the house was in perfect condition. We had no issues with bugs (unless we left the windows open for long, which is normal seeing as how your surrounded by woods). The "uphill" drive to the house was not bad either, my nissan altima(filled with passengers and luggage) made the treck up with no problems at all.
Overall great experience, no complaints.
We had a family get together at this home over the recent Labor Day weekend. We had a great time and the house was perfect for us. After reading the review that was posted in February, by another renter, we were somewhat skeptical that the house may not meet up to our standards. I am here to assure you that the house was immaculate, inside and out. I don't understand why people would post such nonsense, other that trying to get some money back from the owner. What a shame! The house may need some minor repairs outside, but goodness, what do you expect? It's a mountain home and the winter's can be harsh ! It was no big deal to us. The owner was an absolute delight to work with and we would want to rent from him again.
We have rented many places in and around the North Georgia area but this home has the most spectacular view of all. You could see mountains forever in the horizon and the night time view of the sky was breath taking. We would definitely recommend this home to anyone considering renting in the N. Georgia mountain area.
We stayed at this house for the week of July 4th. The house was convenient to everything and close to Helen. The house itself needs a lot of attention. It needs a good cleaning inside and out. The dust and cobwebs were pretty bad, dust was just hanging off of things everywhere. Not good for people who have allergies for sure). We took wipes and wiped down just about everything and those wipes were filthy!!! The bedding on the beds (quilt especially) was stained and we didn't even use it...looked like large yellowish stains. The towels have seen better days for sure..very dingy and worn. There were also a share amount of bugs in the house all week...wasps, lots of flies, crickets, scorpion, spiders, and did I mention flies....so treatment for bugs is a must for this house and on a regular basis. I understand that the house is in the woods, but not all of these bugs belong in the house. We tried to cover up a hole of where we thought they were coming in, but that didn't work.
The door leading to the main deck was nearly unusable, handle was loose and wouldn't open. There were also pickets on the railing that were missing and needs to be fixed. We also were quite surprised with the unpaved road leading up to the house. It was challenging at times due to the many dips and holes in the road. (probably nothing owner can do about that) but still worthy of notice to others. We also emailed the owner after returning home and heard nothing in return. The location was convenient and the views were great, but generally disappointed with the condition and cleanliness of the house for us and the family who traveled far to meet us here.
