Contact us to discuss new service fees being imposed by Homeaway/VRBO; we will work with you to help you to avoid this extra cost.

This is an immaculate and comfortable house with unobstructed views of the water from most rooms and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. Hayden Point is a relaxing retreat that makes access easy for anyone with limited mobility. On a quiet dead-end road, the house overlooks a salt waterway leading to the Atlantic.

Hayden Point owns 100 feet of saltwater frontage making east access to the river for fishing, kayaking or canoeing via steps leading down to a small floating dock. There is also a boat launch open for public use about one half mile from the Hayden Point House.

The kitchen contains everything you need to cook a gourmet meal, but you also can get some of the best lobster in Maine 5 minutes away, and you are only five miles from downtown Rockland, which has several outstanding restaurants, as well as a fine art museum, galleries and shops. Camden is a short distance as well.

This craftsman style home built in 2004 has 2.5 baths and sleeps 8 adults in three bedrooms (children are welcome, too!). Everything is on the ground floor except the third bedroom and bath. On the ground floor, a private master suite with water views has a king-size bed and sitting area, a large bathroom with a custom walk in shower, and two vanities (one within the bathroom and one in the hallway to the bath). A second bedroom on the ground floor has a queen-sized bed and small sitting area, and a nearby half bath. Upstairs there is a second full bath off a very large bedroom with a big sitting area, games table and 180 degree spectacular water views. The king-sized bed in this room can be separated into two extra-long twin beds and there also is a queen sleeper sofa. A portable crib is provided as well. The house has a great deal of closet space and drawers for storage. All linens are provided and are 100% cotton. A washer and dryer on the ground level provided as well.

The ground floor has the main living space with an open dining room, which seats 6-8 people, and living room overlooking the lawn and the water beyond. The kitchen is fully-equipped with solid-surface counter tops, cherry cabinetry, an electric oven, gas cook-top, dishwasher, trash-compactor, microwave, double-door refrigerator and dishwasher and a walk-in pantry. The kitchen has a breakfast nook and double French doors leading to the wraparound deck. The deck has a table, plenty of seating and a grill.

The living room and den area is outfitted with comfortable and stylish furnishings, a flat-screen television, cable, a DVD player, stereo and Internet access. There is even a whole-house back-up generator, so no need to worry about power loss. Large windows overlook the deck and the expansive lawn and waterfront. Novels, local guide books and maps are also included.

South Thomaston is located just five miles from downtown Rockland, 15 miles from Camden/Rockport and five miles from the St. George Peninsula and the villages of Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde. Hayden Point is less than 10 minutes from Primo, one of the best restaurants in New England.

We have a professional caretaker on call during your stay should any problem arise. Dogs are allowed with owner permission and additional pet fee.

Why Kay Etheridge chose MidCoast and Penobscot Bay

Mid-coast Maine is special due to the lovely people and beautiful setting. Hayden Point is quiet and away from it all, but only a 10 minute drive from Rockland, which has an abundance of shops, restaurants, galleries and lots to do. We have been going to Maine for more than 20 years and this is our favorite area by far.

Perfect Setting for Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

If you're planning a trip to Maine and are looking for a beautifully kept home in an ideal location that is off the busy tourist path, yet close enough to enjoy good restaurants and many sights and activities, this is the home for you. It's obvious that the owner takes pride in providing a clean, well stocked home, complete with all the information that you may need to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The house is nicely designed to take in the beautiful waterfront views, especially from the spacious upstairs bedroom/lounge area. Furnishings, linens, kitchen supplies and outdoor furniture are all among the best that we've seen in a vacation rental. The neighborhood is quiet (and the house is on a dead end street), yet an easy drive to the beautiful towns of Rockland and Camden, and even close enough to Acadia National Park for an enjoyable day trip. The property itself is lovely, with a well-maintained outdoor area, including beautiful potted plants and a great deck for enjoying the view or just reading and relaxing. The owner is easy to contact and very responsive to any questions or needs. This was definitely a "would rent again" experience.

Wonderful house for family reunion

  • 5 of 5

With wonderful memories of our three generations (20 to 81 years old) family reunion at Hayden Point in 2013, we were not disappointed returning this summer.

In a great location, this comfortable, nicely furnished, and exceptionally well maintained house, has plenty of space for eight guest to do things together or to find a quiet place to be alone. The well designed and organized kitchen, has everything you need to prepare your own meals. Step out of the kitchen onto the deck and enjoy the sun, watch the birds, read a book, or have a "picnic".

Hayden Point is one of very few rental vacation homes that has two bedrooms on the main floor. As long as a guest can manage three steps into the house, elderly guests or ones with mobility problems will be very comfortable. The space is open enough to be able to use a walker. The house is also pet friendly, and there are interesting places to walk a dog.

There are many places to see and visit less than a 30 minute drive from the house. Great lobster rolls and sandwiches are available just a half mile from the house. And, several good restaurants are just a short drive away.

Kay has tried to anticipate the needs of guests and to make their stay at Hayden Point as comfortable as possible.

Maine Vacation Home Perfection

  • 5 of 5

2015 was my second year renting this Hayden Point home for 2 weeks and I am still in awe of its architecture and beauty. I would describe it as classically modern and I never get tired of looking at the great artwork and furniture inside and the beautiful views and sunsets outside. For the 2nd year this has been a wonderfully comfortable home to both spend time in and to use as a base for all the great activities of the mid coast. We again enjoyed old favorites like Primo, the Slipway, the Maine St. Prison Store, the St. of Maine Cheese Co., Boothbay, Rockland, Camden, Monhegan Island and Acadia. Some new favorites this year included Rustica, 3Crow, Wich’ Please (sandwich truck in Buoy Park) and kayaking on Megunticook Lake. I couldn’t write about favorite Maine places without mentioning Millers Lobster Co. You can buy live lobsters or steamers or they will cook for you. Going to Millers is a genuine Maine experience. The house is also a great place to entertain. The yard is lush and flat and great for kids to run and play. We tried giant frisbee, badmitten and wiffleball. Inside the house – the kitchen and dining area are open concept and eating dinner with the sun setting and then sitting outside on the deck after dinner is truly memorable. With any luck I will be returning next year.

Exquisite skies

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house in a perfect location for peace and quiet but near enough to all local amenities and attractions. The house is roomy, extraordinarily clean, well-equipped and very comfortable. The large garden backs onto the waterfront and it's lovely, especially in the evening when the skies (with views from most all of the windows) are simply breathtaking. Kayaking and fishing are easy off the dock. For activities farther afield, there are great cafes and restaurants, museums, historic lighthouses, beautiful woodland walks with nearby beaches. It's a great holiday spot for a large group of people with varying interests -- there is truly something for everyone.

Wonderful Home in a Great Location

  • 5 of 5

I have spent summer vacations on the coast of Maine since I was a child and somehow manage to find something new and exciting to enjoy there each year. This rental home was this year’s highlight. It is close enough to town (Rockland) to make it convenient to get to restaurants, grocery stores, shops, galleries and the Farnsworth and yet far enough away to give the peaceful privacy so needed on vacation. The home is stunning with its beautiful clean lines and furnishings. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all spaced far apart which is great for quietness when sleeping (and napping)!

The owner Kay is extremely helpful with everything related to the house and the activities in and around the area. She suggested some new things for my group and her expertise would greatly benefit anyone new to the area. We enjoyed many sunsets on the deck and the breezes kept the mosquitoes mostly under control. Bug spray and a citronella candle didn’t hurt either.

New for us this year were: Sightseeing flight to Acadia (1 hr, 5 people), Hope Elephants and the Hope General Store, Slipway Dock, Miranda Cafe. Some old favorites: Marshall Point, Owls Head and Breakwater Lights, Mohegan Island, Puffin/Nature Cruise out of Port Clyde, Pemaquid Point, Boothbay, Camden, Lincolnville, Rockland (Farnsworth).

I would recommend this home and location to anyone. I’m already planning my trip for 2015!

Wonderful home, great location

  • 5 of 5

This house is both beautiful and comfortable. Upon arrival, we found a binder with instructions and helpful information that made our check-in easy. The owner made herself readily available before and during our stay even while she was traveling abroad. Her enthusiasm for her home and her desire to make us feel welcomed was quite refreshing and much appreciated.

The walls of beautiful windows allow unobstructed views of the cove as well as a way to enjoy the ever-present breezes. There is plenty of room to spread out and comfortable seating arrangements on each level. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of blankets and towels on each floor.

The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and appliances and comes with cookbooks and helpful menus from local eateries. The laundry room was also well stocked with a large-capacity washer and dryer.

If we were not out sight seeing, we enjoyed spending time on the deck or down at the dock experiencing the astounding tides. We saw ospreys hunting fish in the cove each evening as well as a fox family scampering across the lawn early one morning. We even saw a lone seal in the cove one high tide afternoon. In the evenings, our family enjoyed playing the games Risk and Monopoly that were kept upstairs.

We enjoyed exploring the Owl's Head Transportation Museum, and Owl's Head Light House, the Lighthouse Museum and the Children's Museum in Rockland, Camden, Spruce Point State Park, Camden State Park and just driving around looking at the beautiful landscape. Maine's state parks are jewels and seem to be scattered every few miles. If we ever return, I will purchase a Maine State Park car pass as this would have been more economical.

We liked Hannaford Supermarket in Rockland. We were able to try a lot of Maine-produced food there. We had fun eating at Wasses Hot Dog Stand in Rockland and Dorman's Dairy Dream in Thomaston--both are Maine traditions and child friendly.

I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to explore the mid-coast areas of Maine.
