Central City/Garden District Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Relax on the front balcony under stately oaks in Uptown New Orleans; just blocks to St. Charles and Magazine Streets. Live like a local New Orleanian, soaking in the tropical atmosphere of the Old South at this spacious and accommodating abode. This charming 1880s home, once owned by a Senator has been charmingly renovated in 2008 and 2009. Included are fabulous makeovers in the new kitchen with granite countertops, bedrooms, and baths...renovated to perfection!

From the elegant master bedroom, step through time; step through the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook majestic Napoleon Avenue. Beautiful pine floors, original to the house have been redone and glisten. This stately home features original cast iron fencing and gate, an old St. Louis brick pathway to a courtyard, stained glass, high ceilings, ceiling fans, fireplaces, formal dining room, transoms, a balcony bistro set, ceiling medallions, crown molding throughout, and with all the fine amenities to make your stay enjoyable and memorable.

This comfortable atmosphere has the features of home with a furnished kitchen with all new appliances including a full-size microwave, dishwasher, stove, coffee maker, hot water dispenser, and disposal. A new washer and dryer are within the unit for your use. All these features comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests.

This stately home is surrounded by the ole New Orleans charm with streetcars just blocks away that will take you to many destinations throughout the city including the French Quarter, Superdome, Canal Street, Lower Garden District, Central Business District, City Park, Audubon Zoo, and historical cemeteries. The streetcar would be a great choice to take you to the historic universities Loyola, Tulane, and Xavier. Magazine Street is two blocks in the other direction which is well known for its eclectic shops, antiques, French pastries, and local restaurant favorites. Visit New Orleans, for pleasure or business, and you will find a relaxing and comforting environment that welcomes you back again.

Why choose our place over others? There are a lot of reasons.

** Location! Location! Location! The Napoleon House is located to all sorts of restaurants (from fine dining to very casual and in many cuisines), varied shops, Tipitina's (where Professor Long Hair played), generational bar (Mae's), grocery stores, streetcar, bus lines and the list goes on.... If you're into sports, there's Lawrence Square at the corner which has a basketball court, soccer field and a playground for small children. In the next block there's also a library and a spectacular Catholic Church which is worth a tour.

** Architectural Neighborhood!! You could walk for miles and never see the same house twice. The varied styles, bright colors and architectural features are unique with each beautiful home.

** If it rains and you want to stay in - enjoy watching TV on a large' HD screen watching movies or sports on Cox Cable. You can also access the web with complimentary wifi access.

About Mary Jean Davies

As a native of New Orleans, I enjoy preserving the beautiful homes and architecture of the city and after Katrina, this Victorian enjoyed a facelift.

Mary Jean Davies purchased this condo in 2006

Why Mary Jean Davies chose Central City/Garden District

Location! Location! Location! And the home is so charming that I think others would appreciate all the fine Victorian architecture so fitting for this great city of New Orleans! Because of its location, you can try a broad range of ethnic and cultural restaurants which are either Zagat rated or have been around for generations. There's live music venues such as Tipitina's, a French bakery, four grocery stores (i.e. Rouse's and Whole Foods) in the area and fun things to do all within walking distance. Walking distance: Mona's, Baru: Petite Grocery, Lilette; Theo's pizza; Nirvana; Casamento's; Savvy Gourmet Restaurant; Superior Grill; Canon's; Magazine Perks; Le Bon Temps Roule; Ms. Mae's; world renown Tipitina's; eclectic shops on Magazine St. Very close (longer walk or short drive): Dick and Jenny's; La Crepe Nanou, Frankie's and Johnny's; Column's Hotel; Commander's Palace; Kyoto; Upperline Restaurant, Cafe Rani, August Moon; Mahoney's Po Boy Shop; Delachaise; Canon's Restaurants; Nacho Mama's; Reginelli's Pizzaria; Byblos; Prytania Theatre; cemetaries, Garden District walking tours, Whole Foods and Rouse's. Streetcar ride: French Quarter, Convention center, Superdome, New Orleans Arena, Downtown, Audabon Park and Zoo, The River Walk, New Orleans Center, Train station, countless restaurants and shops.

What makes this condo unique

The majestic oaks that cool the front balcony overlooking Napoleon Avenue; great for morning coffee and evening glass of wine or to watch those colorful parades.

Wonderful!!

  • 5 of 5

Myself and 7 friends stayed at this beautiful home on Napoleon Avenue for three nights. We were all able to sleep comfortably. There was a coffee pot and great fridge storage. There is walking distance to a grocery store and a few restaurants. Also walking distance to the trolley that we were able to take downtown. The owners Liz and MJ were easy to get ahold of and the instructions were great and on time!! I would definitely recommend this house.

Friendly owners and great home

  • 5 of 5

We (a group of eight friends in our 20s) stayed at the Napoleon over Fourth of July weekend in 2015. Liz and Mary Jean were both very sweet and responsive throughout the process. The refrigerator broke down while we were there, but they kindly allowed us to access the refrigerator in the apartment next door. While the trolley line in the area was closed for construction while we were there, the house was still quite accessible by bus, and a good distance from the places we wanted to go. The house was comfortable, well-furnished, and a good size for us, although as a disclaimer, our group isn't particularly high-maintenance. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor grill (made ourselves some steaks to accompany our crawfish boil from Big Fisherman's). All-in-all we had a wonderful time in New Orleans and at the Napoleon, and would definitely recommend both! P.S. I really appreciated the handwritten card that came along with our returned security deposit. Thanks to you both for having us as guests!

Wonderful trip

  • 4 of 5

We had an amazing time at the Napoleon house! Liz and Marie Jean were responsive and we had great communication. They are lovely people. We had a great time watching parades with them and their friends.

The condo is great with a beautiful balcony. The living room and dining room are spacious and comfortable.

Some of the railings on the stairs are loose or not really attached but is a quick fix.

We would stay again for sure! Thank you both.

Wonderful place to stay!! Loved it!!

  • 5 of 5

The Napoleon was the perfect house to stay in for a large group. We were very close to Magazine St., plenty of great restaurants, bars, and shops. Only a few blocks from St. Charles (where the trolleys run constantly). We made several easy and cheap trips back and forth to Bourbon. This beautiful home made our trip great. Thanks Liz and Mary Jean!! Y'all are great.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

I'd recommend this place to anyone. This place served perfectly for a weekend nola trip with friends. Close to good bars, good food, and even a grocery store! Extremely worth staying up town and enjoying a classic new orleans neighborhood while still having the option of getting into some trouble downtown. One of the best things about this place: the 2nd story balcony. Picking up a few daiquiris @New Orleans Original Daiquiris and sitting up there was a highlight of the weekend.

Great Place to Stay, Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

We were in town with a group of friends for a Saint's game. Perfect location, easy street card ride or cab to the quarter. Can also walk to two great bars - Ms. Mae's and Fat Harry's. House was great for a big group instead of staying in separate hotel rooms. Liz was awesome, would definitely stay there again!
