Our house is located off kilometer 21 outside of the city, at the entrance to the Peninsula San Pedro. It sits on a cliff above the lake with unobstructed views, natural flora and privacy. The neighborhood itself is lovely and quiet, with walks of manicured gardens and views of the lake and mountains. There is an incredible bakery a short walk from the house where you can buy fresh medialunas and sweet pastries.
Downtown Bariloche is only a 20 minute drive, but there are great restaurants, lookout spots and beaches all along the route. In the other direction, this is also on the way to the world-famous Llao Llao resort and the Circuito Chico route just a few kilometers away. For other activities, you are about 15 minute drive to Cerro Catedral for skiing, 20 minutes to the city, 5 minutes to the Llao Llao ferry for boat trips on the lake. It's a great location, away from the hustle and bustle of the city yet close enough to access it all!
We have stayed many times with our family and with children in Bariloche and have always enjoyed ourselves. There is something special about staying in the Peninsula San Pedro area, where you can experience the magic of this part of Patagonia.
Loved this place. What a view! Five of us stayed here comfortably and it had everything we could have asked for and for the price, you could not do better. Absolutely loved the location. Could not have asked for more.
Bariloche Lakeshore has probably been the favourite place our family has stayed on our year long adventure. The house was comfortable for our 5 week stay with a nice mix of space to come together and enough places to find one's own space. The well-equipped kitchen was a pleasure to work in and the dishwasher was a nice treat. One of the two bathrooms contained a washing machine. A car is handy to travel back and forth to town from the Peninsula but the house is well situated so that it is only a 5 minute walk to the corner store, run by two very helpful guys, that carries a little bit of everything and of course the delightful MediaLuna Bakery where we made frequent visits. The bus stop is adjacent to the corner store and busses run every 20 minutes and are very convenient. Lago Nahuel Huapi is a beautiful lake that can be gazed upon from the large picture windows of the house on both levels. Sunsets are particularly lovely. A public beach access can be reached on foot in less than 10 minutes. The waters are clean and clear (and cold although that didn't stop our kids from going in every chance they got!). The photos and advertising description were accurate and the help we received from Jamie was fantastic with advice about what to see and do and how to get along in Bariloche. We would definitely recommend this property and hope that someday, somehow we can visit this wonderful spot again.
This is a really nice house and we loved staying here! It's off the beaten path and secluded, but right on the lake, a couple hundred feet up on a cliff. You can hear the soothing sounds of the water below. The views here are incredible - this lake and the Andes are so majestic! While downtown Bariloche is about 20 minutes away, you can breath out here and feel much more connected to nature and the lake.
The main living room has amazing views and is where we spent most of our time when at home. We could use our laptops with the wireless connection which was great since we needed to stay in touch with work. The bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable - There were only 2 of us but it can sleep more. The kitchen has everything you'd need, though we ate out mostly. Restaurant musts (all fairly close): Butterfly - exceptional 5 star dining, Il Gabbiano - fine dining, El Boliche Don Alberto - excellent traditional Argentine steakhouse, Bread - great pisco sours and views for lunch or afternoon tea.
For activities, visiting the city center is a must. Best shopping bets are chocolate (Mamushka), leather (Cardon), local gifts (just walk along Calle Mitre), local wood artisans (downtown and roadside vendors), rose oil (look for stores that sell it).
But after that, enjoy the nature! From the house, drive around Cicuito Chico and see the famous Llao Llao hotel. The port right in front is the launch point of the Lakes trip to Chile. It's worth doing this if you fly home from Santiago. Otherwise, just do a day trip to Isla Victoria. Also along Circuito Chico are some good hiking trails. And the best view of the whole area is right at the top of the road. For a day trip, drive to Lake Hess for amazing views of Mnt Tronador with its glaciers. This is unspoiled nature at its best!
I've been to Bariloche several times and am always awe-struck by the beauty and magnificence of this area. It's not easy to get to, but all is forgiven when you get off the airplane and see the lake for the first time. This is an excellent house to rent, especially if you want to relax outside of the city and experience the dramatic views and nature of the area.
The property is surrounded by a rainbow of activities, from world-class skiing to mountain biking and hiking, from canopy adventure to top-notch fly fishing, from golfing to shopping. It is also centrally located to enjoy one of the most beautiful driving circuits in the world, Ruta 77 (Circuito Chico). Host to jaw-dropping views, an impressive trail network and multiple gourmet dining options, Circuito Chico is, in itself, an unforgettably amazing vacation.
Our property is maintained and managed by Ed, Coni and Sebastian of Butterfly, the owners of the award-winning restaurant in Bariloche. You will be welcomed and assisted by this amazingly warm, friendly and supportive group!
Our house is located 21 kilometers outside of the city in the beautiful area of the Peninsula San Pedro, just a few kilometers from the world-famous Llao Llao resort, 15 minutes from Cerro Catedral, and 20 minutes from the city center. You'll appreciate the serenity of nature and still close enough to enjoy all that the area has to offer.
