1 Bedroom plus studio, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)
Situated on a bluff on a quiet road very close to the ocean and surrounded by acres of woodland our studio apartment is the perfect base for a restorative sea side holiday. Perfect for walking and biking and close to water access for kayaking or swimming. It takes just 10 minutes to get from the peace of the peninsula to downtown Rockland with its many amenities.
The town of Owls Head has a thriving general store that provides breakfast/lunch and occasional dinners and can be walked to from our property. The general store also has basic supplies that you might need. The lighthouse is also a longer walk away from the studio. The road we are on is quiet and is a favorite walking and biking road (we have some bikes you can use). Crescent beach is also a pleasant walk away. Owls Head library is open twice a week in summer and has a very good selection of books.
The Knox county region airport is about 2 miles away and flights go to and from Boston daily. This is a small airport and we do not feel its impact on our tranquil way of life! A car can be rented at the airport. The Owls Head Transportation museum is also near the airport and holds much interest to aviation and old car enthusiasts.

Peace & quiet far from the maddening crowds
We really enjoyed the remote location of this Owl's Head second floor apartment. Our hosts Rich & Audrey couldn't be nicer. They are warm and cozy just like the apartment. Large picture window affords a water view. They even throw in a pair of binoculars. It's not a place to throw a dinner party; the dining is set up for two, however there are plenty of seating options for wine & cheese. The charming book-stocked bedroom is separated from the main room/kitchen area by your having to walk through the bathroom (very large) and a hallway. The layout allows for lots of privacy if you're sharing the space with a friend or another couple. (The photos don't do it justice.) Outside deck offers a great place to take in the morning. Plenty of coffee grounds and a fine edition of Mr. Coffee to enjoy. The best (and priciest) garden-to-table restaurant in all of Rockland-Camden is just a stone's skip away. The just-opened women's pre-owned boutique clothing shop in Thomaston (called Indigo) is a must-stop; you'll need to buy warm things to wear because Owl's Head can be a cold place, what with Atlantic wind blowing in from 3 sides. (We visited in May.) Too many things to do to cram in a 3-night weekend. For a true authentic "Down East" experience -- visit the General Store in Port Clyde -- you couldn't do better. And it's much cheaper than staying in Camden!
A true GEM in Owls Head Maine
This was my first trip to Maine & it couldn't have been more perfect, especially with my choice of Rich & Audrey's charming farmhouse apartment. I absolutely adored this gem!!!! The apartment was clean, bright, airy and beautifully decorated with local pieces. Rich & Audrey were terrific hosts who added special little touches which makes your visit even more special. The farmhouse apartment is perfectly situated on a beautiful part of the West Penobscot Bay with water views and beautiful sounds of sea birds. Rich & Audrey were both very knowledgeable with the history Owls Head/Rockland Maine area along with other small coastal towns. I just can't say enough about the apartment or the hosts. Great people and a great place! I fell in love with the entire Owls Head/Rockland area of Maine. Looking forward to my next visit.
Rustic farmhouse gem nestled between many Maine attractions
We had a great stay. Rich and Audrey were excellent host and we hope to return one day.
We are so pleased with our choice of accommodations. We have rented through VRBO several times and the Farmhouse Apartment suited our needs perfectly. Audrey and Rich could not have been more welcoming, friendly, and hospitable. This was our first time away together, without our children, in many years and the week exceeded our expectations. We used the location as a base of exploration for all that Midcoast Maine has to offer. We visited historic villages and lighthouses, hiked coastal mountains, toured local museums, etc. Importantly, the apartment is clean, has many thoughtful touches, the bed is extremely comfortable, and the shower is outstanding. For those traveling with pets, Audrey and Rich are quite pet friendly and were very helpful when our dog decided to explore the mud flats during low tide and needed to be washed. We recommend highly!
This is a wonderful apartment!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Audrey and Rich’s cozy apartment. It’s out in the country and very peaceful, but it’s only a short drive to Rockland, Rockport and Camden. The apartment was very clean with lots of thoughtful touches. The tasteful artwork and décor throughout the apartment made it a very pleasant space to be. The view out the picture window was gorgeous! Audrey and Rich were wonderful to work with. I highly recommend staying here.
The apartment was very clean and cozy!
Rich and Audrey were great host. My wife and I had a wonderfully relaxing trip; the apartment has beautiful views (some are just breath taking). I would 100% recommend this property to friends and family planning to visit Maine.
