*OUR CABIN WAS FORTUNATELY NOT DAMAGED IN THE RECENT FIRES.*
This is our personal vacation cabin. We've had this property for 28 years. In 2005 we tore down our old house & built this cabin. While the cabin is 11 years old now and has some minor wear and tear, it is still as glorious as ever! The view is always amazing and the setting is wonderfully relaxing. I promise, it's the most peaceful place you'll ever be! It sits atop a mountain that you easily access from Hwy 321. No long, windy road. It is less than a mile from 321. The road up to the cabin is paved. There is one switchback curve but is plenty wide enough for any vehicle. It is Very private. No 'cabin community' with 50 other cabins on top of you. If you're looking for what the mountains are all about this is it!! It is located 15-20 minutes outside Gatlinburg. You get the true taste of the Smokies here. It sits directly across the street from the National Park. The 15 mile Old Setters Hiking Trail is at the bottom of the hill. The most raw, natural, untouched part of the park is just minutes down the road. A few miles in the opposite direction is Greenbriar. This is one of the most beautiful rivers in the park. You can swim, tube, fish, picnic, hike, butterfly watch or ride thru. I admit, I'm biased, but I believe this is the best cabin in the Smokies!
My husband, 4 children and myself live on a horse farm about an hour from the cabin. I am a horse trainer & children's minister.
This rental property was purchased by my grandmother in 1987. I grew up on this property so it is very dear to my heart. In 2005 we tore down the old house and built the cabin. I designed the cabin, had the blueprints drawn, oversaw construction & chose each unique detail you see...except the spectacular view, of course. God gets the glory for that ;-)
Heather purchased this cabin in 1987
I have never met a person that has not fallen in love with it.
There is an anointed peace in this place. I am so grateful to be able to experience it and feel blessed to get to share it with others.
I tell everyone that our house is what coming to the smokies is all about. Peace and tranquility. Many, many guests have altered their plans to get to spend more time in the cabin enjoying the view.
Heather, just wanted to take a quick moment to let you know how much we enjoyed our experience at your cabin. First, the location was ideal! Not far from downtown Gatlinburg and at the same time very private and quiet......from our experience of many, many years of renting cabins around Gatlinburg..... that is a very rare combination.....close, yet quiet and private! Second the views are outstanding! Seeing all those mountains snow capped was just stunning! Thirdly, the type of construction of the cabin and the decor of the cabin made it feel like a great get-a-way! Lastly, the cabin had everything anyone could ever want including a great kitchen, a beautiful outdoor fireplace, great porches to enjoy the outdoors, comfortable beds and even a washer/dryer if needed. We will most certainly be back and would highly recommend the cabin to anyone!
This was our second stay at this house. We love the privacy and the view.
We have stayed at this cabin twice this year. I am blown away by God's beauty (the view) from this cabins back porch. The fall colors were breathtaking. Heather was great just like the last time we stayed. I cannot say enough about the value that you get staying at this cabin. The price is so cheap for all you get. We travel with our (well behaved) dogs so the privacy of a private residence makes a big difference. We don't have to worry if they bark when we go out like at a hotel. The beds are comfortable and the cabin is very clean which is important to me after managing hotel properties for several years. I noticed she had to post the very few rules she has to make sure everyone sees them. Please, if you book this home, take care of it for her. This cabin is so nice and I'm sure it takes alot to rent out something like this to strangers. She has a picture album there you can look at of the cabin being built. You really feel like you're staying with family.
This is the second stay for our family. We love the cabin, the clean and well maintained property, and the gorgeous view.
This was our fourth visit in about the last 8 years that we stayed in this wonderful cabin. The difference this year was that we brought our daughter, son-in-law and four-year-old granddaughter. What a perfect place for a family getaway and the fall scenery was nothing less than spectacular! The cabin was clean and welcoming with a fantastic view of the mountains, just as advertised! My only regret is that there was so much to do in Smoky Mountain National Park that we came back to the cabin each evening exhausted. We planned to eat all dinners at the cabin which meant that we often did not have dinner until 8:00 or later! Heather did have the kitchen well-stocked with the appropriate cooking utensils so that we were able to enjoy spaghetti, chili, steaks and grilled burgers. We did pack picnic lunches each morning for the day which made our lunch times quick and gave us the opportunity to picnic in a variety of beautiful settings. As usual, the surroundings were spectacular and the cabin comfortable and convenient for all that we planned. This was our first trip to the Smoky Mountains in the Fall, and as beautiful as they are, I would suggest not trying to cram so much into one day. The excessive traffic and the huge crowds made getting anywhere much more of a challenge during this time of year. We have been here in the Spring and Winter and all seasons have their special uniqueness in this area, but Fall is definitely the busiest!. Thanks, Heather for allowing us to experience a wonderful family getaway in your beautiful cabin!
This cabin is gorgeous!! The views are amazing! This cabin is everything and more that Heather describes.
If you are looking for a private location with easy access to Gatlinburg this is the cabin you need. Very affordable yet so much more than you would expect for the price. The pictures do not show the beauty of this location. Heather is so easy to work with. Any time that I needed to contact her she responded within 5 minutes. The interior of the cabin is so clean and well maintained. The kitchen is well stocked with anything that you need to enjoy meals cooked there. The fireplace on the deck was so relaxing. We enjoyed making smores. All the utensils were there for us. Heather explained that the gas grill had been taken so she made sure that we had a charcoal grill to use. We all agree that we will be back to this cabin. Thank you again Heather for making our vacation so great!!
This was our second stay at the Rockytop Hideaway. We always enjoy the cabin. It is a little bit away from town, which was ideal for us. It is perfect for family and friends traveling together. Bedrooms are very generous in size, there was plenty of space for us all of our stuff and anything we purchased in town. The kitchen is fantastic. We enjoyed the outdoor fireplace most evenings. It was great to have the washer and dryer to be able to bring home clean clothes and wash out the bbq stains from nearby Hungry Bears.
The rockers on the porch are a little rickety, will probably need replacing soon.
The bathroom also don't have a hand towel bar and there is only a few small hooks on the back of the bathroom door for bath towels so we had to get creative as to where to hang dry towels.
The mattress in the back bedroom squeaked so badly it was difficult to sleep as it would wake us up every time my husband and I would move. Took some great naps on the hammock on the back patio though!
Aside from these things we would come back in a heart beat. Not much beats the mountain view while sipping coffee on a cool fall morning!
Easy access from the interstate so traffic is nonexistent. Perfectly secluded, peaceful and quiet, yet, only 15 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg. Across the street from the National Park so access to hiking, fishing, picnicking, bike riding. Two and a half miles from golf resort.
