Brian J. Steffan, I am a full-time resident of Lost River, WV after living for 30 years in Northern Virginia. I own a permanent placement employment agency in Arlington, VA., Steffan & Co. Inc. I own the adjoining property to this cottage, but it cannot be seen by the cottage or the cottage by my property.
Brian J. Steffan purchased this cabin in 2006
I chose this location because it is the adjoining property to my existing weekend home, but cannot be seen. I built it as a guest cottage for the main property. Also because the people are so nice and friendly and they all love to be here and cherish it like a jewel.

I just wanted to thank you for the rental of your property. We had the whole area to ourselves and the weather was great. No problems with anything in the house. It was great to get away from it all. We hiked and visited the highest point in WV, visited Green Bank, and did Shenandoah National Park. Walked a lot of the roads since no one was around. We meant to visit the barn at the bottom of the hill (we heard it was new), but didn't get the chance to buy fresh eggs and meat. The restaurant down the street was fabulous. Hamburger night we left there with less than a $15.00 bill! No problem with the BMW Z4 on the roads. LOTS of deer everywhere (deer hunting must be great in that area). No bears...we did see two in the Shenandoah National Park. We will be back next year
We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the mountains. The cottage was clean, cozy and inviting. We went to the state park to hike and swim and toured the Seneca cavern. We would have been content to just relax at the cottage. it is decorated very nicely.
This cottage is perfect for any couple looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of real life.
My boyfriend and I came here the day after Thanksgiving to just get away. We turned off our cell phones (there wasn't much reception anyways!) didn't watch any live TV (only movies, which plenty were provided) and really took some time to enjoy the quiet. The place is in great shape and honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better time.
The owner was extremely detailed in helping find the place and gave great advice for places to eat and things to see nearby.
We are hoping to make a return trip very soon!
The Rose was a very warm, welcoming atmosphere with a beautiful view. Very clean and comfortable with a very nice setting, back away from the everyday rush. This was a great place to rejuvenate. Would love to see this property in the spring with all of the dogwoods. Enjoyed the deer. We discovered there was not mobile phone service for Verizon, but for a get a way, that was a non issue. Amenities were plentiful and enjoyable. Thanks for such a nice, relaxing weekend!
This cozy little cabin was the perfect place for my husband and I to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. The cabin was very clean and came equipped with everything you need for a getaway. We really enjoyed the beautiful view off the front deck, the secluded setting and the fire pit. We also enjoyed the cute Halloween decorations in the cabin. The cabin is located close to a few great restaurants and isn't too far from lost river state park. We will definitely stay here again when visiting the area!
We had a wonderful weekend in this adorable cottage in the mountains! The cottage was clean and comfortable and very peaceful. There was even a baby deer sitting under a nearby tree when we arrived! It was a great place to sit back and relax and enjoy nature. We also enjoyed visiting the nearby town of Lost River. The people we met at The General Store, the art barn and the local restaurant were very friendly. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway in a beautiful setting, this is the place!
Recently spent several days in this cabin, and it's certainly a great for a quiet getaway. The cabin is equipped with all that you need, modern appliances, DVD, kitchenware, internet and very clean tucked away in a secured area. I really enjoyed my time here and I hope you would too.
