About the property

Great room, expansive decks, 3 bedroom, 2 full baths, outdoor shower, sleeps 6.

This unique two-acre property, with heated swimming pool, looks out on the beautiful Russian River Valley vineyards and the never-ending Western panorama. Only minutes from award winning food and shopping in downtown Healdsburg, its within easy walking or bicycling distance of tasting rooms at J, Rodney Strong and other acclaimed Sonoma wineries.

This elegantly appointed, remodeled, 3-bedroom, 2-bath (+ heated outdoor shower), luxury cottage overlooks an exquisite new 40-foot, heated pool (see heating rates) . Gracefully spaced steps span the entire front of the pool so you can lounge in shallow water enjoying a drink, reading, or simply admiring the view. On the grounds, a wooden bridge takes you across a winter creek to native California foliage. Enhance your enjoyment by playing outdoor Foosball on the deck or classic French Pentaque on the court nestled between vineyard and pool. After exploring the wineries, wind down by the fireplace. A sophisticated retreat for families and friends.

Enter property through our Malbec vineyard : Young, exclusive vineyard of 156 vines frame the entrance to our special home. Pear, apricot, fig, pomegranate, and walnut trees grace the two acre expanse. Indigenous, native oak trees circle the property, with six heads of free range calves across the creek on neighbor's land.

Well Water: The cottage's water supply is filtered well water (as most of the house are in Healdsburg). At times there might be a slight odor. It is perfectly safe to for drinking, cooking, showering.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I stayed last winter for one night with my friend. We went into town for dinner

(Healdsburg Hotel) and had a great fire in the fireplace that night when we got

back. The view of the pool and vineyard view is amazing. Everything is tasteful,

comfortable and clean. Great accommodations for two or a whole group.

A SLICE OF HEAVEN ON EARTH!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing setting! House is so warm and inviting. Perfect wine country experience, including roosters crowing, cows mooing and the evening tree frog symphonies, not to mention the view and sunsets! The pool was perfect and the outdoor shower was wonderful!!! Doesn't get better than this! Being here from Georgia in August was great--weather was so refreshing, cool, crisp mornings, daytime the pool was inviting, hot with no humidity, and evenings, after cocktails and dinner on the deck we even had a fire in the fireplace. We love Healdsburg and had lunch in town, but stayed home at night to enjoy our view. Nilus is a great host! I swiped some lavender from his garden to make a sachet. We will return for sure!

Best way to recover form an intense week :)

  • 5 of 5

Love being in this home any time of the year. We had the most relaxing weekend. The main room a perfect place for us to spend the evenings warmed by the fireplace since it was colder than you would expect for February. We had everything we needed to make fabulous meals. The location was perfect for biking, wine tasting, and access to fantastic restaurants. Very much looking forward to coming back and enjoying the pool again.

Looking forward to returning!

Our stay at Vineyard Vista was wonderful. We are two couples and loved being in the house. Due to the rainy weather, we didn’t use the pool but made up for it by cooking in their well stocked kitchen, enjoying fierce backgammon games by the fireplace. The owners provide the firewood and the gas starter on the fireplace made lighting a cinch. The home was exactly as it appeared in the photos, beautifully appointed with nice sheets and L’Occitane products in each bath. Best of all, we were just minutes away from Healdsburg Square and all the good shopping. Looking forward to booking the property again in the spring when all of us can be sunning on the deck, enjoying the pool, and BBQ’ing outside!

Great get away house, close to downtown Healdsburg and wineries

  • 5 of 5

Six of us stayed three nights in August and really enjoyed the house's layout, outdoor area and great pool. The home is conducive to relaxing with friends and catching up. The home sits back away from the road and has a beautiful view out to vineyards across the street. Also, it's a quick drive in to downtown Healdsburg. I'd recommend staying here and am looking forward to coming back.

The property was romantic, beautiful, comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect location for my honeymoon. We were provided excellent accommodations. The house was cozy, comfortable and clean. Location was in the middle of wine country but only a few minutes from the town, which could have come out of a picture post card. Shopping was great. The local residents were extremely accommodating. We found that the property owners and handyman did everything they could to make sure that all of our needs and pleasures were being met and exceeded. I look forward to going back and hope to make it an annual retreat. Probably the best of the home away visits yet. I will miss waking up to the beautiful vistas while starting the day swimming in the heated pool.

Thank you for the wonderful memories.

VERY inaccurate description. Stay at your own risk

  • 1 of 5

I have been using vrbo for over 15 years. I've rented cheap 100 dollar a night places and stayed at properties charging over a grand a night. So i have a deep understanding of what you get for what you pay

This property is NOT a luxury cottage and you are NOT getting what you pay for. Three major problems are outlined below (i won't bug you with the minor ones...and there were many)

1) No AC. Sonoma is known for 40 to 50 degree swings from day to night. During our stay it was 95 during the day and 52 at night (and this was in september...imagine july or august). It was so hot, we could not stay in the house during the day and worse, it was impossible to sleep at night. We had the windows open and the fans blowing and couldn't get the temperature to an acceptable level....then at 2am when it gets into the 50s, we had the reverse problem. So basically you were extremely uncomfortable all day and exhausted from the lack of sleep

2) The two beds are NOT queen size beds. These are double beds. And worse...they are hard as rock. It is not comfortable for two people to sleep on these mattresses especially compounded with the inability to control the temperature

3) TV does not have basic channels. It only shows the broadcast channels that are free. If you want to see something on basic which they say they have (like espn, tnt, etc) you are out of luck.

It is fine if you don't have these things and still want to charge an exorbitant amount of money, but you can't hide these issues from a potential renter. Our experience was so bad that we tried finding a hotel in Healdsburg but we were not able to find a room on such short notice.

I tried letting vrbo and the owner know about the discrepancy in the description and how bad of an experience we had. Haven't heard a peep from the owner (i waited two months to post this review as i wanted to give him a chance to change the description of the property and to address our bad experience).

I looked into my legal options and while we have grounds to pursue indemnification on a number of different code violations, what i'll spend on lawyers makes the refund i was looking for not worthwhile. So it is what it is....

At the very least, this review is to warn others of the problems with this property.

And also please be aware that VRBO does not stand by its Book With Confidence Guarantee. They are pushing all the blame onto the owner.....So i guess this will be the last vrbo property i visit.

That is a shame.
