Guestbook comments from the owner

I stayed last winter for one night with my friend. We went into town for dinner

(Healdsburg Hotel) and had a great fire in the fireplace that night when we got

back. The view of the pool and vineyard view is amazing. Everything is tasteful,

comfortable and clean. Great accommodations for two or a whole group.

A SLICE OF HEAVEN ON EARTH!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing setting! House is so warm and inviting. Perfect wine country experience, including roosters crowing, cows mooing and the evening tree frog symphonies, not to mention the view and sunsets! The pool was perfect and the outdoor shower was wonderful!!! Doesn't get better than this! Being here from Georgia in August was great--weather was so refreshing, cool, crisp mornings, daytime the pool was inviting, hot with no humidity, and evenings, after cocktails and dinner on the deck we even had a fire in the fireplace. We love Healdsburg and had lunch in town, but stayed home at night to enjoy our view. Nilus is a great host! I swiped some lavender from his garden to make a sachet. We will return for sure!

Lovely property in the wine country

  • 5 of 5

We stayed three nights and had a marvelous time. The living and outdoor spaces are wonderful for a group of friends to relax and spend time together. The kitchen is well stocked, and the bedrooms are all quite comfortable. We would gladly return!

We Never Wanted to Leave!

  • 5 of 5

This Modern Country Cottage is absolutely incredible. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were home...in our dream home! From the fully appointed kitchen; to the amazing European bedding; to the abundance of super fluffy towels; to the hospitality robes in each bedroom, ahhhh, such comfort and tranquility! Did I mention the L' Occitane amenities?!!! Pure Perfection!

Not even close to luxury---not worth the price

  • 1 of 5

We were really disappointed by our 3 night stay in this "luxury" cottage and feel entirely misled by the description. It was two couples and one 10 month old baby. Given it was priced higher than two rooms in a 5 star hotel, and based on the description, we had expected a much higher quality experience. What we got is a home that while comfortable, is in need of major TLC and upgrades. Here are a few reasons why we are rating it so low (many in agreement with the other 1-3 star reviews which I wish I had read more closely before booking).

- Because the property is next to a farm, we were awoken by a rooster every morning between 5 and 5:30 am. Not ideal when you're on vacation.

-No air conditioning. We were lucky that this weekend was relatively mild (~80s) but during a hot weekend, this place would get very hot, especially during the day.

-3 US channels on the television

-The grill did not work. This is a major reason why we wanted to stay in a home rather than a hotel. We ended up eating out for all but breakfast.

-Rooms were tiny. The description says that the house sleeps 6 and while that is technically correct, the rooms are so small that this house would only work for maximum of 4 adults and 2 kids. While the beds may have been a queen, for whatever reason, they felt smaller. My dad ended up sleeping on the couch because he was so uncomfortable in the bedroom. One of the rooms was so small that there was only room for one bedside table.

-The bathrooms were very, very basic. Nothing remotely resembling luxury.

-Aside from the pool and the pretty view, the property has gone into disrepair. The outdoor shower is a plywood structure that is an eyesore. The description states that there is a wooden bridge on the grounds that takes you across a winter creek to native CA foliage. We never found this and when the caretaker stopped by he mentioned that it's all weeds.

The "Malbec vineyard" is mostly dying and doesn't look like these photos. The property is set back from a busy street.

-Pool is pretty and well maintained but since we didn't spring the extra dollars for the heat, it was very cold.

Again, this house is comfortable and basic but for what we paid, we would have preferred to stay in town in a hotel.

Comfortable, clean, perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

Vineyard Vista was everything we hoped for. Close enough to town while being able to enjoy a quiet piece of paradise. We loved the sunsets, pool, bocce, outdoor grill. Can't wait to make a return trip!
