Everything we could have imagined

Great place! Quiet, secluded, off the beaten path, great scenery which allowed you to take in all the beauty around us. The pictures don't do this place justice. Beautiful home. Loved our stay here. Party of 12 and there was plenty of room to spread out and plenty of bathrooms. Plenty of towels and amenties. The kitchen was very well stocked. Appreciated being able to unpack and place our clothing in drawers and on hangers during our stay which made it feel more like home. The kids enjoyed having the gameroom downstairs to hang out and play pool, games and watch movies away from the adults. My family enjoyed drinking their coffee on the kitchen deck in the mornings and chatting before the day got started. Great location for all the places that we visited during our stay and for my family in Rapid City to come up and visit with everyone during our stay. Looked forward to driving by and saying hello to the 2 white horses each day on the road to and from the house. Each morning and evening we enjoyed watching all the deer and turkeys. One night during our stay we celebrated a birthday at the Elk Creek Steakhouse not too far from the house and it was wonderful. Would definitely stay here again and hope it can be sooner than later. P.S. The stained concrete patio with the wooden table and sittting area is beautiful.

Just as advertised!

  • 5 of 5

This property is just as advertised! It is off the beaten path and in a very beautiful area. We brought our own Christmas decorations and celebrated with our family! It was just perfect for our family of 15 and 2 dogs. We loved that the kitchen was fully stocked with all the cooking utensils that a person would need. There were plenty of extra sheets and blankets. The water pressure was great considering we had such a large group. We couldn't ask for anything better! Thank You for sharing your home with us over the Christmas Holiday!

It was exactly as advertised

  • 4 of 5

Off the beaten path but close enough to all the major attractions in the Black Hills. Plenty of room for our party of eleven inside and there was ample space outdoors for the five children to play. The unit was clean and ready for us when we arrived. Ample supply of towels and linens as well. The views are also worth mentioning. Very scenic from all angles and wildlife, mostly deer, were abundant. Two were even spotted seventy-five feet from the front door. Would stay in this property again. Also worth noting is our deposit was returned within five days!

Great location: quiet, and just like home.

  • 4 of 5

The house is roomy, the rooms are homey. I found it to be clean, well appointed, quiet, relaxing and well situated to look around the area. Great stay and we will be returning at some point.

Highly recommended if you are visiting the black hills / sturgis area.

Great location--great place!

  • 5 of 5

The house is clean, well stocked, and charming! Our party of 5 (3 adults, 2 kids) had a great time here--the boys loved the game room downstairs and climbing the hills out back, then there was the satellite TV for entertainment after they'd run themselves ragged. We adults enjoyed the decor, the bedrooms, stocked kitchen, and wildlife (mostly turkey, but an occasional deer).

The location was perfect as we were close to my mother in Sturgis and family in Summerset and Rapid City, and we had plenty of room to have them all over for dinner. There was plenty of room for my sister and her husband to join us as well for several nights.

It was wonderful to spend the day hitting the tourist sites and running around the Hills only to come back to this comfortable and homey retreat at the end of a long day, where we could prepare a good meal, have room to spread out and relax, and sleep in the next day. Sure beat being stuck in a couple of hotel rooms!

My only complaints are minor--the gas grill is on its last legs and needs to be replaced, and the lawn needed to be mowed. However we enjoyed everything else about this place so much we'd love to be back next year and in the years to come!

Wonderful Accommodations for the whole family!

  • 5 of 5

With eight children in tow, it is difficult to find a lot of welcoming places that offer good accommodations for our family, let alone ample sleeping areas. That alone made Elk Creek Lodge worthy of 5 stars! What a wonderful set-up for the family! There was plenty of room and plenty of beds, and it very quickly felt like home to us.

In a beautiful setting within the Black Hills, and an almost certainty of seeing deer, turkey, and other wildlife every morning, our stay was a joy. We were within an hour of most of the sights and activities one goes to SD to see, and everything else was within the next half hour. It was so wonderful to spend the day doing our outings, knowing that we had a nice and comfortable place to return to. A welcoming selection of books, games, and DVDs greeted us for end-of-the-day family time.

Our six boys (and even the girls and dad!) loved exploring the hillsides, though it made us realize we need to work out more...

Finally, return of our security deposit was very prompt - a welcome change from experiences we've had elsewhere.
