Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful chalet. We had a fantastic visit going on nature hikes, skiing at Mt. Baker and baking cookies. It was such a peaceful stay and was more than enough room for 10 people comfortably. The beds were fantastic, like a cozy bed made perfectly for the mountains. The large dinner table was the cornerstone of our visit letting our family linger and enjoy each other every night. We can't wait to come back and visit again soon.
Couldn't ask for much more from this chalet. It had everything we needed and more. We were a group of 9 and it met our needs as a group perfectly. The outdoor ammenities (hottub, yard, BBQ) and location on the lake were absolutely fantastic, it felt like a winter wonderland. We can't wait to return!
great place, really beautiful house. awesome location, clean, nice for a small group (kitchen is a nice size and table/seating are great. excellent access to silver lake park (particularly if you rent the boat and paddle over...it takes minutes). perhaps the only negative is that the main room is open to the loft area and due to all of the wood it can be pretty noisy if someone is downstairs and another person is trying to sleep upstairs (more rugs? some sound panels?). but really that is being nit-picky....overall it's a fantastic place and I highly recommend it!
I recently stayed at this property with family. There were four adults and five kids ranging from 5 to 16 years old. We had a great time staying here, it's a nice open floor plan and good for a big group. The kitchen is gourmet, very nice six burner range and plenty of prep space to cook for a large group of people. The house is situated on at least a few acres and has lake frontage. The view from the family room out to the lake is very nice.
The property is only a few minutes drive to the town of Maple Falls. The dirt road that leads to the property could use a little work, but was not all that bad. You just need to take it pretty slow in a few spots. If you are heading up to Mt. Baker it is a fairly good drive. 45 minutes to an hour if you hit traffic or foul weather. Nice drive though and you go through the town of Glacier which has better restaurants than Maple Falls. With much friendlier service, too.
The only thing to consider when renting this house with a large group or with kids is the fact that it has a balcony/loft with four beds. If you plan on staying up late while the people on the loft are in bed you're better off out in the hot tub or by the fire pit. It can be loud up on the loft with people talking down below...
I highly recommend this property.
We enjoyed our large home situated right on Silver Lake. It made for a perfect place for our extended family gathering. It is a wonderful open-spaced home that is perfect for relaxing and and visiting. Great kitchen, plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms, and a boat to use for fishing right on the lake. You can get to Silver Lake park easily across the lake. It was great!
We spent a quick Christmas holiday at this lovely waterfront chalet near Mt. Baker. There was plenty of room for us to bring our 2 adult sons and our teen-aged daughter. The cooking facilities were phenomenal and our son cooked some truly gourmet meals for our extended family to join us and enjoy as well. The 12 seat table was perfect for our Christmas company.
The chalet was close to amazing "rain forest like" hikes and we loved the short trek to Mt. Baker to ski. I was delighted that our area was not snow bound but within a 20 minute drive we were in a white snow covered winter wonderland and the skiing was outstanding! We also took a trek into Vancouver discovering their aquarium and Stanley Park, a short drive away (bring your passport).
I would highly recommend this chalet. There is wifi and a land line though no cell reception. Bring a few DVD's though as they have a lovely TV/DVD set up but nothing to watch in the evening. There are cards and games for inside fun and an outdoor fire pit and hot tub. It's amazing what we were able to enjoy in a quick 5 night stay!!
Deming Homestead Eagle Park
Silver Lake is stocked each year with 15,000+ trout and many people look forward to fresh water fishing in Silver Lake. Opening day of fishing is always the 3rd Saturday in April and runs until fall.
Because Silver Lake has a motor horse-power limit (9.9 hp), it is a very quiet lake. No water skiing or jet skiing. Most people come to the lake to fish, kayak, canoe, paddle board and enjoy the wildlife. Silver Lake has a family of beaver that frequent the waterfront, a pair of Osprey that nest nearby and hundreds of deer, eagles, ducks, geese, and great blue heron. The lake even has a resident turtle that is often seen basking on the logs near the park.
