About Cindy Blair

Having moved up from Florida, we are still in awe of the Pacific Northwest. Its beautiful here. To have a cabin on such a beautiful lake and so convenient is a real blessing. Besides swimming and boating, our other passion is horses. We live on a small horse farm about 1/2 hour from the lake house.

Cindy Blair purchased this house in 2003

Why Cindy Blair chose Puget Sound

This property is a dream come true. That special home on a lake. To have that view from every window. It never grows old. Kayaking on the lake is fabulous. It's a meandering lake full of fingers and coves. I've seen an owl bathing and preening; otters playing and countless hours of the osprey fishing. There are plenty of bald eagles fishing too. But still, we are not far from all the city has to offer. There are miles and miles of bike trails, great golf courses, Puget Sound is 15 minutes away, hiking on Mt much to day..or you can just relax at the cabin. We have high speed internet and Comcast TV for those connected folks too.

What makes this house unique

Our cabin is a perfect retreat. Although you are convenient to Interstate 5 it is a world away. So, quiet and private and beautiful. Lake views from every window.

We often have families here to visit their soldiers at Joint Base Lewis McChord. It's a great home for entertaining. With the open floor plan there is plenty of room for everyone. In the Summer you can play on the lake. In the Winter you can enjoy the cozy radiant heat floors, jacuzzzi bath tub and large rock wall fire place.

This is a custom built home. The castle like front door was hand made by the owner, his father and brother including forging the hinges. It is massive. The rocks in the fireplace wall were gathered durring his travels abroad. Every detail was executed with care and love.

Spacious, clean and a great value

  • 5 of 5

The beautiful photographs of this property show the spaciousness of this cabin. But what they can't capture, is the true beauty of this finely crafted home, which can only be experienced by stepping inside.

It has a massive front door, which features custom-made hardware and enormous forged hinges, that swing easily with the touch of a finger. It provides a gorgeous view of the lake through a wall of glass. It has a beautifully crafted cathedral ceiling with exposed beams, and an expansive staircase that leads to the main bedroom in the loft. My wife and I are both in our early fifties so we were concerned about a loft bedroom. But we found the stairs very easy-to-walk.

The bedroom has plenty of closet space, two end tables and a very comfortable king-size bed. Looking out over the hand-crafted railing, you'll enjoy a view of the stunning stone fireplace, spacious living room and extraordinary kitchen area, as well as that spectacular view of Lake St. Clair.

The roomy kitchen is well-equipped with a gas stove and range, microwave oven, roaster oven, crock pot, coffee maker, toaster, toaster oven, refrigerator and dishwasher. The countertop and island are adorned with gorgeous granite. There are plenty of dishes, cups, pots, pans and silverware.

The living room area is equally roomy as the kitchen. It offers plenty of seating with two comfy couches and several alternate seating options with the four footrests that double as a coffee table, three woven straw stools that double as storage for comfy blankets, and the raised hearth of the spectacular rumford fireplace.

We rented in late December. So we were treated to the heated flooring provided by a radiant heating system, which made both the granite flooring in the living room and the wood flooring in the kitchen feel quite warm and cozy. The bathroom, which is also very roomy, has a pedestal sink and a wonderful jacuzzi bathtub with dual shower heads and comfortable built-in seat. There's also a washer/dryer combo unit that allowed us the convenience of packing a lot lighter than we typically do for extended trips.

The downstairs bedroom, which is off of the living room, offers bunk beds and very comfortable bedding.

The owner was very responsive in answering email and phone messages, and was also very accommodating to all of our requests. I would absolutely recommend this to a friend or relative, and am looking forward to my next stay in this amazing cabin.

Owner's Response: The cabin was custom built with no expense spared. There is a great dock and the lake is clean and beautiful. I wish they had an opportunity to enjoy the lake too. It was just too cold.

Beautiful home in a lovely, peaceful spot

  • 5 of 5

Your home was the perfect place to spend a few days relaxing with my daughters, both of whom live in the area. The view and the house are even more lovely than pictured. I just loved waking up in the morning and looking out from the loft to see the lake, island, and osprey nest just outside. We enjoyed taking the kayaks out for several paddles around the lake. We ate in more than out and found the kitchen to be spacious and easy to work in, but would have appreciated a few more tools and gadgets -- for example, an electric mixer, some rubber scrapers/spatulas, covers for more of the pans, and a few plastic food storage containers. We would definitely rent this home again.

Cute cabin on the lake

  • 5 of 5

This cabin has a beautiful view of the lake. We saw lots of birds, ducks & geese. Inside is cozy & comfortable. You can build a fire on those chilly nights. Would stay here again when visiting the area.

Perfect place for a quiet getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We came for a few days to get some serious work done, which meant a lot of writing. This was the perfect place. Three of us set up laptops and wrote for hours while looking out at the beautiful lake. Breaks were taken down on the dock with glasses of wine and we played board games and ate far into the night! The set up of the house was perfect, the kitchen was well stocked, the atmosphere was awesome. we kept saying that, while it was a great place to get away and focus on work, it would even be a better place for a summer barbecue and canoe! We will be back!

Beautiful cabin in the woods feel

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our anniversary/Valentine's day weekend and we had a blast! The view is spectacular and the house is amazing. Jetted tub, stone fireplace, beautiful kitchen, it was a great stay. Owner was great to work with and so quick to respond, she helped us extend our stay last minute. There is a second bedroom but the master is a loft above the living room so I wouldn't suggest staying here with other people unless you don't mind the lack of privacy. It's great for couples and families!

Stunning veiw of lake from home

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. This cabin in the woods or should I say chalet, had a remote and tranquil feel to it. Just far enough away from everything else to enjoy the peace and quite of the natural setting. I recommend this lovely lake house cabin in the woods to any one. This place has a lot of charm.
