About Sandy Gelt

Mexico has always been such a special place for us. We bought this villa as a vacation home in Puerto Vallarta because it has the beach and jungle. Our family loves the charm of Mexico, the warmth of the people and the lively colorful culture. Living in Denver, Colorado we have found it to be a quick, easy flight to P.V. Much of the time it's possible to find non-stop flights which allow door to door in around 3-4 hours.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Where to begin? This villa is always going to be a very special place to our family. We took our two sons ages six and seven and the house was perfect for our family. The boys spent countless hours in the pool and the neighborhood beach was pristine and beautiful. From start to finish the coordination was flawless. The management was able to coordinate transportation to and from the airport in a vehicle large enough for luggage and car seats. Upon arrival we were greeted with a fresh picture of margarita and homemade salsa and guacamole prepared by Flor. The groceries that we requested were already put away in the kitchen making settling in all the more easier. We had Flor prepare our breakfasts and our dinners and found that we preferred to have leftovers from dinner rather than going out to lunch the next day! But it is more than just her cooking... you feel a great sense of being taken care of by a wonderful and loving woman. We were truly sad to be leaving her at the end of our trip. The home is beautifully decorated and well laid out with two master suites and full master bathrooms upstairs and the living area, dining room, and kitchen downstairs. The neighborhood felt extremely safe we enjoyed walking the cobblestone roads to explore the neighborhood. The terrace garden and pool were extremely well cared for. Several days we wanted to just stay "home". We cannot wait for the next time we will be able to go back.

Favorite food and drinks can be pre-stocked in the house prior to our your arrival. Send us a shopping list and we will take care of bringing it to the villa. There is a small fee for this but it is definitely worth it, according to our guests. Please note that there is safe, purified water throughout the house. Water is totally drinkable from every faucet. Fresh ice from the market is my recommendation. We don't use ice makers. The pool is heated, if you wish to have the temperature higher or lower just ask Flor, she will make sure it is the temperature you like. We have coolers and bags to carry your towels, and a picnic to the beach - no need to bring anything from home. Towels and a beach umbrella are available. It makes your beach visit easy.

Paradise near Zona Romantica

  • 5 of 5

We just spend 17 days at Casa Montana. The minute we walked in, it felt like home. You can't beat the location (minutes from old PV), view (gorgeous sunsets and views of the bay), and amenities of the property. Just look at that patio. Amazing indoor/outdoor living. The staff caring for Casa Montana is a joy to meet and know. Everyone--from Sarah to Mario and especially Flor--took wonderful care of us. We had the house stocked prior to arrival, which is really helpful if you arrive later in the afternoon and don't feel like running to the market. The wifi works well, as I telecommuted with no issues. We highly recommend this property and hope to return next winter!

Owner's Response: It brings such joy to us, knowing that you enjoyed yourselves. We truly care about your experience and sincerely hope that your visit was everything you wanted it to be in our tropical home. I know that Flor was not available for a few days due to her eye surgery but hope her "stand in" worked out well. Thank you for taking the time to post this very kind review, we really appreciate it. We would love to be your host again next time you plan to visit Vallarta. Hasta luego y muchas gracias! Sandy and the Casa Montaña team.

Beautiful Property, Great Staff

  • 4 of 5

We recently stayed at Casa Montan'a for 10 nights. The villa itself is as described. The two suites are well appointed and the views from the balconies are quite nice. Flor, the housekeeper was wonderful! She speaks no English, but fortunately we speak enough Spanish to communicate. A phone translator app is a must if you don't speak Spanish, or if you are trying to convey long messages to her. We used the app when leaving so we could describe the tips we left. We also wrote out about Flor being able to take left over food as well and made sure we sent a copy to Sara so she was clear of our intentions as to who got what.

We had food purchased prior to our arrival which was the way to go for sure. We did have to restock and just took a cab to the Mega store. There were plenty of cabs waiting for the return trip.

Walking to the beach was not possible for us, maybe when we were teens, but it is about a half mile down very steep cobblestone streets once you crossed the highway from the hill above. We met a couple walking down and they use Uber or a cab to get back up. The villa's private pool was wonderful.

Cabs are plentiful and it is only a three minute ride down to Playa Los Muertos and the best dining around. Cab fare ranged from 80-100 pesos for this trip.

One thing not mentioned is the 80 ft. transmission tower between the villa and the bay. Not a deal breaker, but is a bit of an eyesore.

All in all it was a very nice property, the staff is great, and we had a fabulous trip!

MEJOR vacation EVER!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently returned from Casa Montana and are still raving about this delightful oasis which was our casa away from casa for 10 glorious days. We arrived late the first night to a delicious nosh of guacamole, fresh salsa and a pitcher of margaritas! (What a wonderful welcome after a 5 hour flight!). The Casa was so lovely, sunlit and comfortable - the view at night took our breath away. After a great first nights sleep we awoke to the smell of a delicious breakfast being cooked and were met by Flor with her beautiful smile and gracious manner - we immediately fell head over heels in love with her! It usually takes me a few days to ease into my vacations but not this time! On day one both of us felt so relaxed, refreshed and raring to go explore the beautiful city of PVM. The colors were magnificent, the people so welcoming, genuine and kind. We felt safe the entire trip. The restaurants magnificent, the staff including Mario and our new friend and Driver Luis were so knowledgeable and accommodating. We explored lovely old world Conchas Chinas, the City, the beach, the Malecon, Sayulita Beach, the ancient ruins of Ixtalan and even Tequila (the drink AND the town!). Each day was better than the next and we left feeling changed - both inside and out. THANK YOU to all who made our stay so very special to the degree that we look forward to returning to continue our adventures just where we left off sometime soon...muy pronto! Also, Sandy, may we please, pretty please, adopt Flor?

Fantastic Time!

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of spending a wonderful, relaxing week at this property! Not only is the property beautiful, but convenient to restaurants and shopping (with only a short taxi ride). Any issues or questions were quickly handled by the staff. The housekeeper/cook Flor is amazing! She was very friendly, and starting our days with her breakfasts on the terrace was perfect!! I even got a couple of her recipes to try on my own. Sandy is more than helpful as the owner, and everything went smoothly. It was exactly what I had hoped. I know we are going to be returning and staying here again!!

Wonderful Trip!

  • 5 of 5

Our 4 night stay at Casa Montaña couldn't have been more perfect. The house is located in Conchas Chinas, a very nice upscale area just south of town, but still just a 4 minute taxi ride. Taxis were only 5 minutes away once we called and only cost 70 pesos ($3.50) each time we went into town. The views were spectacular, we swam in the pool each evening, and Flor, the housekeeper was most hospitable each day. We arranged for groceries to be ready for us when we arrived. Everything couldn't have gone more perfect!

Car: not necessary

Casa Montaña is located in the quietly exclusive, upscale village of Conchas Chinas, just south of the romantic and historic Viejo (Old) Vallarta. Conchas Chinas means 'Chinese shells,' which you can hunt on the small, white-sand beach, rock grottos and hidden coves waiting to be explored and enjoyed. Conchas Chinas is quite near the Romantic Zone. Many guests simply walk to the Romantic Zone from the villa. People walk down our hill to the beach and walk 15 minutes into town to have breakfast or lunch.

Your private vacation/honeymoon villa is perched high above the Bay of Banderas in a lush, tropical setting with stunning ocean views and cool breezes while still close to attractions, galleries, gourmet restaurants and shopping.

It's only a short stroll to the white-sand beach and you can walk or take a short taxi ride into Viejo Vallarta. You're close enough to enjoy the town, but far enough away to enjoy your privacy.

Other Activities: whale watching, swim with dolphins, turtle sanctuary, zip line, four wheeling
