About the property

A Bohemian's delight, but BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER, PLEASE KNOW: We will not be accepting parties that do not fit within the specified MAXIMUM of 2 (TWO)'s not a party place. We respect our neighbor's quiet enjoyment of their primary homes and have this stipulation for their consideration. Minimum age to rent is 25. Copies of your driver's license will be required.

A second and very important stipulation is that we are a 'no wearing outdoor shoes in the house' kind of house. If you are not comfortable committing to this house rule, this is not the place for you. It's important to us to minimalize dirt, environmental contaminants and allergens in the cottage, so we do not wear shoes throughout. We are also a non-smoking, no pet property. We love pets, we have 2 of our own, but many people are allergic. Regretfully, we can not accept your fur baby, no matter the circumstances. IF ANYONE IN YOUR PARTY HAS ANAPHYLACTIC ALLERGIES TO PEANUTS, YOU SHOULD NOT RESERVE THIS PROPERTY. Due to our being in the woods, we do have traps set that are baited with peanut butter. We do not believe in chemical pest control, and so, we use the most natural methods possible. Unfortunately, this does pose a great risk for anyone with severe peanut allergies.

We do not book new guests in on the same day that current guests are set to leave~ this is because we don't want our existing guests to feel rushed out nor do we want to take any chances that anything is missed in preparing the property for a new guest. We want everyone to be happy. Please note we DO NOT check people in on major holidays, because we personally meet our guests and show them to the place. The holidays included in this definition are New Year's Eve, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. During Christmas and New Year break, there is a 3 night minimum. This is due to our not checking people in and out on the same day. During any special event such as race week/weekend or holiday weekday/weekend, an additional $25 per night to the weekday night rate and $50 per weekend night rate will be added. This will be reflected in an adjusted quote that you will be sent at the time of your booking. We book seasonal rentals so you and your family can have a ski or summer home without the hassle of actually having to purchase one! Inquire about your preferred months and we will send you a proposal.

It is 5.5 miles to the Camelback ski mountain. It is a ten minute drive due to the nature of the curvy roads approaching the ski mountain. The Crossings are 4 miles, literally at the bottom of the road from this property.

It's a sweet little place in that it is certainly chock full of all the comforts of home, but far from the expensive 'all bells and whistles' hotel accomodations. The main thing here is the location, the setting and the price.

One of the best features is how tucked away the cabin is beneath 100 foot pine trees, giving it that true 'you are in the mountains' kind of feel, yet just a few miles down the road are all of the main attractions of the region.

There is a master bedroom with a queen bed , loveseat and flat screen t.v. opening into the main area through double glass doors into the living room/kitchen combination, which has a futon/couch, second flat screen t.v. and then a second bedroom with bunk beds and a full bath with shower and tub.

This accomodation allows you to feel a little bit of home away from home, with actual PEACE AND QUIET, giving you the opportunity to save a little money by keeping simple breakfast and lunch foods in and not have to eat every meal out. We have a full (but small sized appliance) kitchen that will allow you to make some hot foods if you want, the option to use a keurig for your coffee making (we provide the machine, you bring your own k-kups) or Mr. Coffee brewer, fridge, microwave, electric kettle and gas range. There are two flat screen televisions with cable t.v. and many movie channels. . A hairdryer and clothes iron are also provided. ALL BEDDING LINENS PROVIDED AS WELL AS ONE BATH TOWEL PER PERSON. If you require more than one towel per person, kindly be sure to bring them along with you. Slippers in the winter months are highly recommended as the only wall to wall carpeting is in the master bedroom.

We are very close to absolutely all the highlights of the Pocono region.

This is a perfect 'home base' and not a luxury accomodation which the price reflects. We are the type of travelers that don't spend too much time in our room when away, but when it's time to sleep, or have a snack, we want a convenient, cozy and most of all CLEAN place to stay. This place will meet all of your needs at a fraction of the price of the surrounding hotels and resorts. We will provide you with information regarding the area and discount coupons for the outlet centers as well as some of the other attractions in the area. Please note if you are looking for a 'river experience' the ONLY places to launch are Marshalls Creek (about 15 minutes from the cabin) or Jim Thorpe (about 45 minutes from the cabin) As far as swimming in a lake, Smithfield Beach is about 25 minutes away, Promised Land is 45 minutes away, and you will find a link to these lakes here in the listing for further information.

Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We rented the cottage for my wife's birthday and the experience was great. The cottage is cozy and clean and Christine

was great to work with. She even had a Happy Birthday banner and flowers when we arrived. It is very relaxing and

secluded but still very close to many attractions. We enjoyed our stay and hope to work with Christine in the future.

Thanks for a great time!

The cottage in the woods is a perfect place if you are looking for quiet and serenity yet close enough to many activities. The place is decorated as if you were in a hotel yet has all the comforts and privacy of your own home. She thinks of everything.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words! I wish I could take the credit for thinking of everything :) As a traveler, I rent private accommodations exclusively for any stays over 1 night, these last 5 years. I have learned from many other homeowners who I have rented from :) Returning guests receive a 10% discount, so we hope to see you again someday!

Perfect cozy getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our 2 small children fit perfectly in this cottage and spent 4 wonderful days lazing around the poconos. Christine is a very gracious hostess who seems to enjoy having guests in her cottage. We all felt like we were at home with all the amenities. Cook's Corner was a great recommendation for dinner. It was nice to have the DVD player for the children and the multiple televisions for us to relax as well. It was the perfect location away from the crowds of more popular pocono destinations.

Owner's Response: I do enjoy having guests at the cottage!!! I am honored to be chosen by nice people like yourself to be the place where family memories and precious vacation time is spent. I am so glad you liked it! Just a note for future, returning, trusted guests such as yourself do not have to pay the insurance fee, so if you return, it will cost a little less. We are also available for seasonal rental or monthly rental! Thank you for choosing the Old Ice House!

About Christine

We haven't stayed in a hotel for more than one night, as a family, in many years. We believe that staying in private accommodations makes a trip more economical, comfortable and safe for our family. We are well seasoned travelers that have taken some pointers from owners all over the world to try and make this little place as comfortable as possible.

Why Christine chose Henryville

It's in the heart of the Pocono tourist attractions, literally no more than 10 minutes from any popular tourist destination, including the Mt. Airy Casino, The Crossings Premium Outlet Center, Camelbeach and Camelback and the 'main drag', Rt 611 where all of the restaurants are!
