Overview

About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms 3 Baths with Gallery style Art walk (Can sleep 18)

And welcome to your home away from home... a true getaway. Located in Squamish BC , Squamish BC V8B 0C2) – the outdoor recreational capital of Canada.

I have added another bedroom and bath to the home. This house has 3 bedrooms upstairs with the kitchen attached to the living room; a great open concept living space. As well, there is a large living room downstairs that can double as a fourth and fifth bedroom as the large space is separated by sliding doors. each room has its own entrance and access to the downstairs bathroom. As well there is a gas fireplace in the downstairs living space. The downstairs bathroom is kinda awesome. great shower and nice and bright with heated floors and a balinese petrified wood sink sitting on an impressive fir slab. It is maybe one of my favorite showers.

The entire upstairs living area and bedrooms are finished with beautiful fir flooring except the bathrooms - the main bath is cork flooring and there is heated slate in the en suite.

Our main bath is warm and inviting with slate accents and an wood slab vanity. The tub is ready for soaking and has air jets to help you relax after a strenuous day out playing in the mountains. The master bedroom has its own wonderful en suite that has heated floors, slated shower with a seat so you can sit and enjoy the rain shower that falls from above. Dimmer lighst also a nice feature.

The other two bedrooms upstairs are also good sized and tastefully decorated each with ample closet space.

The kitchen is all butcher block with a classic country feel with all the needed amenities. And feel free to use the BBQ, slow cooker or the rice cooker for your favorite meals. Lots of pots and pans and a blende – everything you need to enjoy the spacious kitchen space. And while doing dishes is for the dishwasher provided, the sink is attractive enough to inspire at least one by hand washing. As u wish!

The living space upstairs is an open concept with the fir floors and the artfully stoned fireplace taking center stage. The mantel piece is another piece of old growth wood and adds to the fireplaces allure. Cozy in and enjoy! Lots of wood is available to keep you cozy and warm. Also a guitar for the musically inclined.

Need to stay in touch? Use our wireless access anywhere in the house. As well enjoy apple tv:)

Outside, look across the street onto green space and beyond – feeling the power of the chief – the world’s second largest granite monolithic rock – starring at u through the trees. Across the street and around the corner there are wooded paths that will allow you to enjoy a morning walk that will lead you to rivers and streams. There is also a neighborhood playground for kids with swing ropes for your more adventurous youths. And if you have a four-legged friend that wants to share in the mountains... by all means… feel free. While we don’t have a dog or any animals here we are open to well behaved pets and can help you with local dog sitters and walkers if need be.

If you like the idea of exploring the mountains by bike, there are numerous logging roads and for the more adventurous - an endless supply of world-class single track to keep you fit and engaged. And of course rock climbing just 10 mintues walk from our front door to smoke bluffs park and 5 minutes drive to the Chief parking lot.

More of a green thumb? Feel free to enjoy our in season organic garden that will offer you fresh vegetables such as cherry tomatoes, cucumber, bell peppers and even some wild blackberries. For those visiting in September - get ready to enjoy the sweet tasting apples off our organic apple tree or the fruits from our black plumb tree.

Any thing else you need? Let us know. I have worked many years in the service industry in both Whistler and Squamish and am well connected in all facets to help you make your stay most enjoyable.

We are very close to the site of the new world class Sea to Sky Gondola and very excited to have that so close for our guests and their families.

For those looking to enjoy Whistler’s world-class resort we are 40 minutes to the Creek Side Gondola. As well, for backcountry enthusiasts we are very close to some great terrain. And of course… ‘sled necks’ - feel free.

About William Edmondson

Thanks for stopping by.

My name is William. I have lived in Squamish for 9 years after being in Whistler for 10. I chose Squamish because of the community aspects, all the great activities it has to offer to keep people smiling and happy and its proximity to Vancouver and Whistler. I have various activities that keep me busy work wise but i tend to be drawn to social entrepreneurial pursuits. For example, I have my real estate licence and am working to start a community funding (not funded;) real estate business. I also have a small but growing and fun(except when its not) alternative fuel business. We 'up-cycling' waste vegetable oil from local restaurants into a safe and reliable fuel source. I currently have around 10 people who use 'Transphat' as their fuel source. I have two vehicles that run off of wvo. One hard done over 125K. Good clean fun. (ok not always clean).

I also do some freelance writing/photography and moonlight in Vancouver's commercial acting scene as well. Even with that i am a huge traveler and tend to spend a few month's a year on the road experiencing new cultures around the world.

I have spent the last many years renovating this home with the help of friends and family and I am happy and pleased that it feels like a beautiful country style home. I like getting the feedback on how the place just feels good. In my eyes... mission accomplished.

Come on by. You'll like it here.

Buena onda!

Why William Edmondson chose British Columbia Mountains

Squamish has it all. It has been deemed the out door recreational capital of Canada for a reason. Big mountains with the community feel - - all the activities one could ask for from golf to kite boarding to rock climbing to a selection of beautiful lakes within a short drive to just hang out at and swim in. As well, it is only 40 minutes away from two incredible locations. One being the city of Vancouver, the other being Whistler. Squamish offers a small town feel in one of the most powerful settings. For young and old - its a breath of fresh air!

What makes this house unique

Our home is tucked away from it all in a very quiet neighbourhood. This is not a cabin but is quiet enough it feel like it some times. We have great views and lots to choose from locally as well as easy access to a world class city in Vancouver as well as the well known tourist area of whistler - just 35 minutes to the Creekside gondola. The best of both worlds! And from the house's door step there is so much to do and see. With world class mountain biking, hiking and climbing literally at your back door and just a short dribe to the world's 5th ranked kiting spot - seriously - what else needs to be said!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for this, Will. We have to get our rental car back to Vancouver by 3pm, so won't be out later than noon. It's been a real pleasure staying here though - you've got a beautiful and super welcoming home. Thanks again for sharing it with us.

Happy new year!

This place was filthy and messy. The fridge had disgusting moldy foods. It was dusty everywhere.

  • 1 of 5

Very disappointed with the hygiene and cleanliness. We have two young kids. The backyard which was fenced off had overgrown grass and shrubs. The front yard was decent but wasn't fenced off so was a bit dangerous for the kids to be playing soccer and running around. Definitely not recommended for anyone with children.

Owner's Response: Once in a while - almost once a year it seems - i have a guest i know is not going to be easy to deal with. To be honest, you snuck under my radar. After a summer of dealing with happy families with kids and groups of adults all very much enjoying the home and commenting on its cleanliness and what a great spot it is for families being in such s quiet neighbourhood with beautiful surroundings and great neighbours - a hood with more dogs walking past or sleeping in the streets than cars passing by - i guess i was due. But it's been such a great summer of guests and positive feedback - its tough to get too discouraged by one person's displeasure. But having said that, i take all comments and concerns very seriously and if things need to change - they get changed. I am a very proactive vrbo host and love constructive criticism as it helps me provide a better experience for future guests. As my friend and fellow vrbo host pointed out ; when one of the initial complaints and concerns is watered down hand soap, chances are you are dealing with someone who just isn't going to be happy.(there is a draw full of new bar soap if you wanted to use that instead ) Strangely, the two groups that stayed the next week after both loved the home. Their kids loved the neighbourhood and access to the path across the street that leads to the playground. The adults loved the area and access to trails and how tucked away we are as well as the open space and the cleanliness of the home. And people also seem to love all the local art. But some some people will always find the darkness. One point of clarity so as to not confuse future guest - The back yard is actually not fenced off. It has a living fence on one side and a line of fence on the other but certainly is not fenced off. We may change this when we add the new back patio for next summer. That is one area that could use an upgrade.

Terrific base for Squamish adventuring

  • 4 of 5

Plateau living is minutes from key locations in Squamish: the city-proper, the SeaToSky Gondola, the Adventure Center, hiking along Mamquam river & biking or hiking in Smoke Cliffs. The kitchen has a lot of cooking tools, the bathrooms are clean and fairly recently updated. The neighborhood was quiet. I'd stay here again!

A great place for a large group

  • 4 of 5

This review is for www.vrbo.com/699896. We had booked 267113 but Will (who owns both properties) contacted us the day before our stay to let us know the property was experiencing maintenance issues and he offered us 699896 instead. Both places have similar layouts and features.

699896 was great for our large group of 4 individuals and 4 couples (one of which also had 2 children). 4 bedrooms had a queen bed each and two of those were big enough to put in cribs/mattresses for the kids. The 5th bedroom had 2 queen beds, cozy but doable for 4 people.

699896 was well equipped with everything we needed for the weekend. Lots of parking space outside. The upstairs kitchen/dining/living combined space saw a lot of action over the weekend with everyone socializing and kids playing. The kitchen and dining facilities were well stocked with cookware, dishes, utensils, and cleaning supplies. There was a second downstairs living room/kitchen area but we didn't use it much except for the fridge. There are outdoor decks upstairs and down which would be nice in the summer. The bedrooms were also well stocked, bedding on all the beds and ample towels for everyone. The house has a few rough edges (spots that need painting, loose fixtures, minor things) but certainly nothing to spoil a weekend with good company! It's not easy to find a place big enough for a getaway with this many people, it will be considered again next time (the price is comparatively quite reasonable).

The location was good, it was not far for everyone to come out from Vancouver and the lower mainland after work on a Friday. It also made for an abbreviated commute to and from Whistler for the skiers on Saturday.

Will was very helpful and responsive. We were in contact about everything that happened, good or bad, and everyone was happy in the end. He even gave us a jar of his brother's homemade honey as a welcome gift! Thanks Will, we had a lot of fun and made a lot of good memories :)
