The tour area has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, dating the first archaeological traces back to the Neolithic period. In the Bronze Age were inhabited by "ruins" in the hills around Turanj and one on the island of Ricul (Green Sko), which was later removed and ancient port. At that time the island was connected with the country. The first settlement was called Tukljača (Tuklječane), and in the Roman period were present and three ports and a great Roman estate. Tukljača was at that time an independent parish, and from this time onwards three churches are preserved in Glagolitic script and two historically important Glagolitic stone inscriptions. It is preserved and part of the ancient aqueduct Biba - Jader. The cemetery is a small church that was built in 845 the remains of a Roman villa rustica, which appeared in historical documents called Neoskvrnjenog Church Conception or St. Maria, and in some writings and Stella Maris.
The current Turanj mentioned in the historical documents for the first time in XIII. Century, and in 1444 the fortress was built in Turanj Croatian license Mestrovic. After the tower named Turanj Toretta (the Latin turis tower, the tower), which was finally adopted the present form. The fortress was built by the sea, and the walls are supported three towers. From this time he survived a tower, the main door and part of the walls. Turanj was known during the war by a customs office, and otherwise historically as a megdanište at which they are completed many battles. At this time the population was located on the nearby islands and Babac Turanj was attacked and set on fire so as not to get into the Turkish hands.
Within Turanj walls of a 1450 a church of a Little Lady or Ružarica. There is a church burned during the war from below by Ibrahim Pasha, and in its place was built in 1675 today's parish church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Otherwise, the old Turanjci buried her dead in the Franciscan Church of St. Duje on the island of Pasman. Only when the sea was rough the funerals were performed in Tukljaca. Interesting is the fact that in 1527 Turanj had 144 inhabitants, while at the same time in Biograd, had only 70.
Turanj is an idyllic seaside town with more than 1200 inhabitants. It is situated in a magnificent location in the Pasman canal and surrounded by a small archipelago of 15 islands. It stretches along the coast about 4 km and runs through the city and the Adriatic highway, which makes it easily accessible. Close to the city of Biograd and Zadar, so Turanj attractive and quiet city, which is still the center of the region is close by.
In the summer Turanj becomes a small paradise. With its clear and warm sea (passing through a Pasman channel currents at regular intervals in both directions, which is rarely a worldwide phenomenon) and many small islands attracts only people. A large number of foreign and domestic tourists after a visit Turanj can not resist a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere Turnja, and every summer they are back there. The sailors who are accustomed to the beauty of the Kornati islands and those who are accustomed to all the islands of the Adriatic for the beauty of the Pasman canal, where storms are known quieter, weaker wind and waves, the sea is warmer, and sailing between the Islands a pleasant and relaxing. Then the greatest pleasure to anchor in a bay of the island and enjoy the sunset.
Through the autumn and winter the atmosphere changes, as in the poem: nothing new, nothing new - cock-starved celebrations rainy wave ... Bure Turanj are quite strong and sharp, and although winter temperatures are generally above zero, the winters can be very cold. But the winter in Turanj, as in every coastal town, has its charms. During the storm was nice to sit somewhere in the countryside and enjoy the sun and sea from the storms suddenly and unpredictably changing colors from light blue to gray and black.
Only a few kilometers from Biograd, close to SV. Filip i Jakov in and the picturesque village of Turanj. When approaching from the street, the view of the sea shows that there is actually a flat on the ground floor and two apartments on each floor. Each apartment has its own balcony and its own experience of the nature that surrounds it.
The apartments overlook the blue Adriatic Sea and Babac Islet, one of the mediterranean jewels. Here you can enjoy the evening when you watch an unforgettable sunset on the Adriatic. You will not trust your eyes - simply invaluable! Everything in this quiet environment is by the noises of the crickets, the seagulls and the occasional
