The Isle of Palms, like all barrier islands, has a dynamic beach near the inlet that separates the island from Dewees Island. The ebb and flow of the changing tides, through the inlet, creates and moves sand bars just off shore. These sandbars will channel waves between them, resulting in the massive buildup of sand along portions of the island where other areas may develop temporary erosional hot spots. These hot spots will feature a sand beach throughout the day outside an hour or so before and after high tide. Where a dry sand beach may be limited in these few areas at high tide, walking either direction will lead to an area where the sandbars have created an expansive beach to enjoy at any tide.

We stayed in this condo for two weeks in the summer of 2010. We chose it because of the view and decor and we did not go wrong there. We had shade and a wonderful breeze on the beautiful deck and ate every meal out there. The unit was beautifully decorated. The reason for just a Good rating is that it is not a 3 bedroom; it is a 2 bedroom with an open loft and this was not stated in the description. The loft bathroom shower had no water pressure and could not be used. This was known but not communicated. In addition, there was a hole in the loft wall, the trashcan door was broken downstairs, the lights above the counter flickered and the unit was not clean; there was even sand left in the shower. The air conditioner also had some trouble keeping up. Most of the issues were taken care of after we called the rental company but these were easily fixable and should have been prior to our arrival. We spent a lot of money to stay 2 weeks and it is unacceptable to deal with such issues on our vacation. If I were the owners, I would look into a new rental company.
