Prospective Guests:

We want to “thank you” for accessing our VRBO listing and for considering booking the Cottage at Reausaw Lake (i.e. the Cottage). During your search for Black Hills accommodations, please do not hesitate to contact us for additional information.

We are the owners and, also, the property managers of the Cottage. In this capacity, we are able to give our guests individual attention. Our priority is to offer a vacation rental that is comfortable, cozy, clean and complete, at a competitive rate. Additionally, we continually strive to make Cottage improvements, such as a recent patio expansion and a partial kitchen remodel, to better accommodate our guests.

The value a business offers can quite often be measured by repeat customers. During 2015, we booked eight (8), repeat customers for a total of fifty-nine (59) nights! It makes us proud, and we are humbled, to know that our past guests have had such a positive, Cottage experience. (NOTE: For 2015, our total bookings equaled one-hundred, twenty-five (125) nights. So, almost 50% of our business came from repeat customers.)

We, again, “thank you” for considering the Cottage and we look forward to serving you.

PS. And, for you repeat customers, we "thank you" for your business AND your friendship!

Doug & Denise Miller

DESCRIPTION: THE COTTAGE AT REAUSAW LAKE

Private, quiet and chocked full of diversity!! Enjoy outdoor activities in a poisonous-snake-and-wood-tick-free environment! Enjoy all types of bird and wildlife viewing, including turkey, deer and elk. This rental offers a magnificent location for the outdoor enthusiast, yet, is centrally located for easy access to all Black Hills attractions. Rapid City is 30 miles, Deadwood is 15 miles and Sturgis is 25 miles. Essentially all Black Hills attractions are located within a one-hour drive. Located on 80-privately-owned acres, the Cottage offers convenient access to the Black Hills National Forest…..a one-million-acre, public playground for your outdoor enjoyment! (Did we mention that the Cottage's location offers no rattlesnakes and no ticks?!! Yes, way!)

Explore the diversity of the Black Hills from your backyard!! Summertime activities include all types of recreational activities…..mountain biking via the 111-mile Centennial Trail (eight miles from the Cottage), “easy” bicycling / hiking for all ages and abilities via the 109-mile Mickelson Trail (eleven miles from the Cottage), four-wheeling via the extensive Black Hills road system and, of course, hiking, camping and fishing. Would you like to fish? We will supply the fishing equipment! The Black Hills has an extensive lake and stream system, however, Reausaw Lake is only 100 yards away. This small lake is owned by the South Dakota Game & Fish Department and stocked with trout for excellent catching success….especially enjoyable for the young angler! Or, our adult, fly-fishing guests can supply their own fly-fishing gear and have access to a private pond with hungry trout (catch and release, please)!

Wintertime activities are endless! Downhill skiing and snowboarding are thirty minutes away at the Terry Peak and Mystic Miner at Deer Mountain ski areas. Most of the Black Hills is open to off-road snowmobiling, or access to 350-miles of groomed trails is a ten-minute drive away. How about a family sledding outing? Sleds and a toboggan are available for onsite use. Further, let’s not forget that the Black Hills is excellent for snowshoeing and cross country skiing activities.

AND, most importantly, the owners of the Cottage, Doug & Denise Miller, will do everything they can to make your stay completely enjoyable! The Miller residence is located ¼ mile from the Cottage. This close proximity allows the Millers to personally meet their guests and to be readily accessible should guests need individual and immediate attention. The Millers believe in customer service and will do all they can to make your stay an enjoyable one.

The Millers are looking forward to meeting you!

PS. Please feel free to contact us via phone or email. However, when contacting us via phone, first, please call our home phone (605-578-1102) and, if no answer, leave a message. Then, call our cell phone (605-920-0287). Also, if no answer, leave a message. This will assure we get back to you in a timely manner. THANK YOU for your extra effort here!

NOTE: For larger groups, please be aware that the Cottage only has one (1) shower / tub.

FYI: The Cottage at Reausaw Lake is licensed as a Vacation Home with the State of South Dakota. License number 60350. The Health Department of the State of South Dakota is required to inspect the Cottage on an annual basis. The Cottage provides such great peace and quiet and yet it is not too far from most of the sites we wanted to see. There is a great little trout pond just a short walk away. We only wished we had planned to stay longer. We also feel like Doug and Denise have become fast friends and it was nice to have them in the area to answer questions. This was our second year to visit and when we return, we intend to stay at the Cottage. It is a beautiful location.

Had a wonderful stay. Can't say enough about this lovely cottage.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is located in a beautiful location in the Black Hills. It is close to most major attractions, yet secluded enough for when you want to have a relaxing and quiet day or evening at "home". The cottage is well stocked and is by far the cleanest vacation rental we have ever had. We fished in the pond and hiked the private property. On our first day there, my husband saw a herd of elk grazing in the field behind the pond. The scenery is beautiful! Doug and Denise are wonderful hosts and go above and beyond to accommodate their guests. This was our first trip to the Black Hills, and we have already decided that we will not stay anywhere else the next time we travel to the area. Thank you Doug and Denise for your hospitality and for sharing your lovely cottage.

Peace, tranquility, cleanliness, and feel right at home, the Cottage is the place to be.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was awesome. If you want seclusion, peace, tranquility, cleanliness, and feel right at home, the Cottage is the your home away from home. My husband had three requirements in the Black Hills area, Privacy, A/C, and Firepit. With tourism being the primary industry in South Dakota, I knew I was in for a challenge when he said, I want to hear silence. Since we were going in August, A/C needed to be considered but little did we know that the elevation would take care of that for us. And thank goodness for the firepit because, it warmed us up during the cool nights. We were busy bees during our week long stay with 12-14 hour long days: hiking, sightseeing, visiting the state and national parks, exploring nearby Deadwood and Rapid City. And in the back of my mind I was relieved to know that after a long day we would be going to the cottage for the night. The place is homey, beds are comfortable, we loved the fact that they had everything you can think of. Books/magazines to read, outdoor equipment, all of your amenities, oh and cookies on the fridges. We absolutely enjoyed it.

Comfy cottage with attentive owners

  • 5 of 5

My family spent a long weekend in this cottage. The owners called to let me know they were going to be out of town during the time we were going to be there and gave me information they thought would be helpful gave me their cell phone number so we could call if we had any questions. They then called the first day we were there to make sure everything was fine and to make sure we did not have any questions. Doug was very friendly and attentive. The cottage is well stocked with anything you could think of. We enjoyed using it as a base for all of our adventures and enjoyed returning in the evening to grill, play horseshoes and have a fire in the fire pit and my husband enjoyed fly-fishing in the pond on the property. The cottage was exactly what we were looking for - comfortable, clean, convenient and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Awesome property

  • 5 of 5

We had never used vrbo before and was a little hesitant, not knowing what to expect. At first glance, the house looked exactly as pictured. The house was impeccable. It had had everything we needed and then some.

The house was centrally located for all that we wanted to do and see.

Doug and Denise are the best.

We look forward to coming back next year.

Great Vacation Rental in the Black Hills

  • 5 of 5

We have never been in a Home Away Vacation Rental that was so clean, and so well equipped. From the ample supply of dry firewood, to the well stocked kitchen, or the countless supply of Movies to watch, this home left nothing to want for. The outdoor patio was perfect with the fire pit and BBQ, where we were able to enjoy our relaxing evenings. We had coffee on the front deck each morning and watched the deer run across the law each day. The garage was a perfect place to leave our motorcycles each night out of the weather. The location was perfect to see all the Black Hills attractions. We would certainly be happy to stay here again if we are ever back in the area. We were fortunate to meet Doug and Denise when they stopped for a visit and dropped some fresh corn for our supper. They were a great couple and we wished we had more time to have spent with them. Oh, I forgot about the fresh baked cookies that Denise left for us on our arrival ! We would certainly recommend this home to anyone travelling in the Black Hills area.

Kevin, Karen and group.
