Custom wooden ceilings throughout the home with full beams and corbels in the great room and over 500 sq ft of barrel-tiled porches with views stretching out over 40 miles to the east and south.
Gorgeous mountain sunrises and sunsets. Master bedroom window overlooks a 36-acre high desert preserve with tall oaks, mesquites, junipers and all of southern Arizona's natural beauty. Coos deer, mule deer, antelope, bobcat, foxes, coyotes and an almost endless variety of birds. Patagonia has been rated the top bird watching destination in the world!
Top quality construction, superb furnishings and the best appliances make this a wonderful vacation home. Capital Precision range, Bosch refrigerator, Bosch dishwasher and full-sized Bosch washer & dryer; Harmon/Kardon stereo, Panasonic LCD HDTV with IPod player connection, Panasonic Blu-ray player. Excellent (4 bars!!) wireless reception. Custom Brazilian granite counters, solid rustic alder cabinets and doors, hand-hammered copper sinks in the bathrooms and naturally harvested pine timbers give this home its unique southwestern flair.

Property borders State and National Forest land. Expanded 1-car garage with unique copper-hued metal door adds an old west flavor to this Santa Fe style home.
Owner is a retired Naval Officer with more than 35 years of service.
The Owner purchased this house in 2009
I built this home to retire to once my naval career is over. I've traveled the world and found the Patagonia area offers the people, the culture and the climate that best suit me and my family.
The beauty and solitude of this location cannot be overstated. The relaxing quiet, the great views and the gentle breezes that pass over the hillside home each day refresh and rejuvenate body, mind and spirit. A spirited walk across the property will provide you with the opportunity of seeing so much of what southern Arizona has to offer: perhaps a fox or Coos deer will join you at a distance. Finish the day with a relaxing steam bath in the custom-tiled sauna, then relax on the front porch to enjoy a warm sunset. If you linger a little longer, the full moon or some shooting stars will share the view.
The rental house is beautiful, and perfect for up to two couples, as the two bedrooms, each with a bathroom, are on opposite sides of the house. The fireplace is perfect for cool evenings and draws perfectly; there was no hint of smoke in the house. The owner, Brian, was very easy to contact and made sure we had everything we needed.
The best thing about the house, though, is the location. About a 10-minute easy drive north of Patagonia, the main porch of the house faces south, and the views are incredible. The house is perched on a hill and you can see for many miles east, south, and west. The sunrises, sunsets, stargazing, and birdwatching are all terrific right at the house. In addition to the resident Say's Phoebe and house finches, we had broad-billed hummingbirds, black-chinned hummingbirds, grey hawks, and vermillion flycatchers right at the house. Views from the bedrooms are great, too.
There are no near neighbors. You can hike right from the house, for birdwatching purposes, and it's less than a half-hour drive to sites for more serious birding and hiking. Madera Canyon is only about an hour away.
I cannot imagine any better place to stay in this part of Arizona. I feel very lucky that we found it, and I hope to return again someday.
This place is amazing! So peaceful and quiet -- gorgeous desert views in every direction. The house is super comfortable, clean, and completely equipped. We enjoyed sunrise breakfasts on the porch. Perfect spot for birders visiting Patagonia-Sonoita Creek and other local attractions. Brian was very responsive and hospitable; he met us at the house and gave us a tour, and encouraged us to call if we needed anything at all (we didn't; he had thought of everything). Would definitely return and recommend to others.
Have posted review in previous write-up. Forgot to click on where we are from, etc. Also note that the property has a nice set up for just relaxing, reading, playing cards and just enjoying a glass of wine. Owner is friendly, helpful upon arrival. Also very understanding.
Our stay was enjoyable...
My wife I recently stayed here, we had an idea it should be nice, but that idea was massively underestimated. The home itself is easy to live in, very comfortable, and has too many great features to mention here - but the outdoor speakers were a favorite. The view, from all of the windows is either amazing or breathtaking. Watching the light play across the valley and Red Mountain make it worth the say all on its own. Each morning and evening the sun rise and set were all new dependent on the clouds and weather. Thank you for having us!
I came to Patagonia for my sister's wedding. She and her fiance rented this fabulous home for my wife and I and our dog. I had no idea what I was getting, and I was simply overwhelmed by what a great home this is. This house is situated on the top of a (foot) hill, with great mountain views. It was super clean and everything from the appliances to the dinnerware to the furniture is top notch. We had two bottles of wine and a quart of hummingbird nectar waiting for us when we got there. I had never even seen a hummingbird before, but within 30 minutes of putting out the nectar, we must have had 2 dozen darting in and around the house! I'm not really a bird watcher, but I can see why everyone who is gets excited about this property. The best VRBO experience I've had!
When we arrived at the house it was after dark, so we had no idea of the spectacular mountain vistas we would wake up to. There were birds singing all around us and mountains in every direction. The house itself was like a high end exclusive resort, lavish but tasteful, and very private. It is fully furnished with all the amenities, and had a great bed, linens, showers and full furnished kitchen. We stayed for a week, saw over a hundred and twenty species of birds around Patagonia and found several life birds right at the house. It is as described, only better, and we hated to leave.
