About Don Dickey
No Snow was built by the family over 40 years. It has been a recreation destination for many, many people over the years. Two to three generations of some families have enjoyed. We hope you enjoy our home.
Don Dickey purchased this House in 1970
Why Don Dickey chose Rum Point
The property was purchased and the house built because the island was a beautiful and friendly destination.
What makes this House unique
The large common area allows the entire group to congregate. It also permits smaller groups to engage in different activities. The large round table allows guests to eat as one group. A very well equipped kitchen makes meal preparation easy. The washer and dryer in the kitchen lets guests travel with fewer clothes.

Very comfortable for 7 members of 3 generation family. 6 and 9 year old boys loved the pool.
Roominess in the house and view from the pool side deck was gorgeous. Snorkeling out front was impacted by wind, but Rum Point location was great. Trip to Stingrays from Rum Point was fun on a not so windy day. Casual supper at Kaibo was a real hit with the kids and good food. The 40 minute drive to Smith's Cove or Cemetery Beach for snorkeling was well worthwhile. Glad to have good television to watch University of MIchigan basketball games.
While No Snow was certainly comfortable, there is not a "high end" feel to the place. More glassware (rather than plastic) would have been a nice touch.
Beautiful location - peaceful
Don Dickey is probably the most accommodating host on VRBO- he was kind enough to send us maps and information regarding his home before our arrival and answered our numerous questions. No Snow is on the "quiet" side of the island which is nice but it is was very windy during Christmas - sadly this means a lot of trash on the beach and a strong undertow - not for little kids - Rum Point is a short drive and has calmer waters - also a wonderful excursion to see the stingrays. The house is older but well laid out and has a great view - perhaps not the luxury rental that the price might suggest although the Caymans are expensive. The kitchen is better equipped than our own and we had everything needed to make a wonderful Christmas dinner. Our teenage girls got a huge kick out of the Lazy Susan table too. We had some issues with a flood and hot water but they were dealt with immediately - even on Christmas Eve and the staff are lovely. We used and left extra snorkelling equipment which was one of the highlights - the reef is right out front and once the wind dies down it is a wonderland of fish, octopus and even the occasional stingray - We would stay again and preferred that side of the island to the very busy, cruise ship side of seven mile beach, although the beach is spectacular over there. The house is big enough for a family reunion (such as ours) and has a great floor plan - there are games , which we enjoyed and coffee whilst watching the sunrise was beautiful. Enjoyed our vacation - would go back.
We had a great time at No Snow last summer. The view of the back patio, or from the dining room, made you feel as if you were all alone on the island. The shallow water just a few yards away was warm an inviting. We spent hours snorkeling out to the breakers, and paddleboarding along the coast. Just a short drive to rum point for dinner and drinks, or on out to starfish point for some evening exploring makes the houses location ideal. Plenty of room for all our crew to spread out for some personal space and a large open interior to keep everyone involved at mealtime.
We definitely want to return.
Great place to stay in a great location
We found No Snow to be very much as described. The location is wonderful. The Rum Point area where it is located is about a 45 minutes drive from the main island town. The density of tourists on the north side, even in peak season, is low. There are some local restaurants, public beaches, and a convenience grocery store for times when a trip into town is not warranted. Grand Cayman roads are well maintained which made driving on the British side a bit easier. The view from the property towards the Caribbean is beautiful. To our surprise, we were informed a month or so before arrival that the owner had added a small pool to the property!
Upon arrival we found the property to be clean inside and out. We were a big multi generational family group and there was lots of room for both joint and separate activities. The kitchen is large, equipped to a good standard, and made cooking for a large group easy. There were plenty of dishes, silverware, pots, pans...and even two toasters. (The bread at Kirk's supermarket in town is excellent!) Grocery shopping with availability of both U.S. and British products was fun. The supermarkets reflect the high standard of living on the island.
There is a local property manager who can be easily contacted in case of need.
There was lots of room on the street side of the house to park rented cars. Rented cars are a necessity.
We had dry, breezy, and warm weather with very little need to run the air conditioning. We did not notice any lack of hot water.
All in all, hard to imagine a nicer place to stay for a family reunion! I was in charge of planning most of the trip and Don, the owner, made me a hero for finding such a wonderful place to stay!
There was a lot of contact with our guest before the trip. He took seriously getting everything in place for the family. It is a gratifying that someone who is quite meticulous found No Snow up to his standards.
Great house for large Groups
We have been renting No Snow for over five years and working with Don Dickey has been a pleasure. The house is spacious and lends it self to good times around the dinner table and living area. The back porch is a great place for sunrises or lounging over looking the ocean. The snorkeling is fantastic right outside the house but we do most of our diving in and around George Town. Rum Point and Starfish point are not far away. Having two refrigerators and the open kitchen is a great plus with the larger groups and the bedrooms are very comfortable. We have recommended No Snow to many friends.
Great place to stay.
The house location is great for those who want a quiet island vacation. It accommodates a large group comfortably. It was easy to prepare meals in the well stocked kitchen.
There is good snorkeling in front of the house. The ocean view is beautiful.
I hope to return.
No Snow is on the north side of Grand Cayman. Generally the ocean breeze blows directly in from the sea. The balmy breeze has little pollen and is great, clean air. Snorkeling right off the beach is enjoyable. The ocean side deck lets you see the rising sun and is shaded for your comfort in the late afternoon.
